i agree. We haven't signed any good 'freebies' since Marcus Babbel and Gary Mac in 2000

Fantastic signings they were though weren't they?

No decent freebies then since the Houllier era.

two amazing signings....Babbel was fantastic before his ilness and Gary Mac was playing some of his best footie in his first season here.

Houllier had his faults, but signing those two was a stroke of genuis.

The signing of Hyypia and Hamman was genius too. 10.5M for the pair =ed value for money.

true...shame Houllier lost the plot after his heart problems. His early signings were fantastic.

Agreed. Size doesn't matter it's what you do with it that counts

From what I've seen (a little bit), he looks like a very technical player who can make space for himself, loads of tricks and has an excellent right foot shot. I haven't seen his intelligence play to comment on him, but in terms of technical ability he is really good for an 18 year old.

I've never seen him play, but i'm usually skeptical of the "great talent on FM" kind of players.

he isn't that good either. Too injury prone and unreliable...on par with Kewell.

Injury has been his only real problem as he is a very good player when fit - shame thaw not enough

without doubt.

Top player he is, but his injury record is a nightmare.

Proper shame.
