we need to try and get the cream of young players and build for the present and future

lukaka forward
hazzard winger
m'villa midfield
sakho defender

all very young very good players with great experience already, they wouldnt be cheap but wouldnt break the bank either and would repay us ten fold, theres a few more gems out there we just have to put our faith in them and play them when/if they come to us like arsenal have for years
i havent mentioned any british players because they are overpriced but if we can carry on bringing in the likes of steerling shelvey and wilson then ofcourse that would be even better

PabloMedina28 has been playing Football Manager 11  :D

Just messin m8 from all accounts Hazzard has a tonne of promise but the lad from Lukaku from Anderlect is the one all the buzz has been about recently hes been linked with every big club in Europe! Havnt seen any of him so not gonna make a call on that one but it would be nice to be in the hunt for some proper talent again.

I'll throw my FM experience into the mix and give a shout out (AGAIN) for Alexis Sanchez from Udinese. I have saw that wee fella play a few times too though and hes dynamite. Lightning quick, full of tricks and scores goals - the last time I saw him he was on the left wing in a 3313 formation for Chile in the WC. If Roy put the lads out in that formation on Sunday against the Spurs half this forums regular posters would have simultaneous heart attacks :p

ive never played football manager mate i know of these players through watching them, but sanchez is a great shout hes just the type of player we need but hes more high profile then the ones i mentioned and i reckon would cost atleast 20million
but if the moneys there and its possible why not?

rumours today linking us with charlie adam in january. personally i can't see the point it as he'd merely be another squad player. we need quality not quantity at this stage.

We should get Erik Huseklepp, he plays in the Norwegian league and is in sensational form at the moment, he's a really exciting prospect and wouldn't cost that much.

He's talking about michael you meff!

Injury prone and really needs to move away from city if he is to be a top midfielder. Had all tthe attributes but never ever features for citeh now.

Ryan Shawcross could be an ideal long term English replacement for Jamie Carragher. Tough tackler, current captain of Stoke, ability to score goals, and only 23. He could also be the interim replacement for Dan Agger until Carragher hangs up his boots.

With Spurs entertaining Bremen tonight theres a few good players over from Germany. Marko Marin looks an exciting winger but is only a year into his contract. Clemens Fritz a good young right back and Tim Borowski imposing central midfielder but can operate wide. I still rate Torsten Frings but hes too old now unfortunately and suspended this evening. Bremen have a number of good young German players and I am sure a few there worth keeping an eye on.

No to marko marin for me, bags of skills, but selfish, not really hardworking and reminds me of Babel.

Fritz is alright, I watched him with Germany, has a bit of Insua in him in terms of positioning and pace (bad thing), good squad player he can be. We should get Schweisentieger.. immense

Shawcross is also decent, good in the air, hard tackler, he can read the game well, but he isn't a top player for me, similar to Soto, maybe a better footballer than Soto

Liverpool Echo 24/11/10

Lille's Eden Hazard a possible January target for Liverpool FC (VIDEO)

Nov 24 2010 by David Prentice, Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL boss Roy Hodgson watched Eden Hazard fire Lille to the top of the French League on Sunday night, just weeks after Kenny Dalglish checked out the same player.

And Hodgson’s latest spying mission with the Reds’ French scout, Laurent Viaud, has fuelled speculation that Liverpool could be planning a January swoop for the highly rated 19-year-old.

The Belgian international has attracted interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, and could cost as much as £18 million.

However, Liverpool believe they can tempt the midfielder with the lure of regular first team football.

Kenny Dalglish watched Hazard when Lille played Levski Sofia in the Europa League recently – after the youngster first impressed Anfield coaches when the two sides met in last season’s Europa League.

Liverpool’s new owners have expressed reservations about the value of signings made in the mid-season transfer window.
But only last month boss Hodgson said: “We are going to be very interested in trying to improve our squad in January. There is no question about that. I am sure we will sign players.”

And Hazard’s age fits into the Americans’ transfer strategy of buying bright up and coming youngsters.

“We have to be more efficient,” said JW Henry. “When we spend a dollar it has to be wisely. We cannot afford player contracts that do not make long-term sense.”

Also in action at the Stade Lille-Metropole on Sunday night was Ivory Coast international Gervinho, who has made an impressive start to the season.

When Hodgson was asked after the match if he was following Gervinho, he replied that the Ivorian was not the only good player on the field.

Hazard became the youngest goalscorer in Lille’s history in 2008 and went on to make 36 appearances and score six goals, becoming the first foreign player to win the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year Award.

Spanish youngster Suso, meanwhile, has signed his first professional contract at Anfield keeping him at the club until 2013.

The 17-year-old can play up front or in midfield and featured in the pre-season friendly against Borussia Moenchangladbach.

Liverpool have been drawn against Notts County in the third round of the FA Youth Cup. The tie will be played at Meadow Lane on Tuesday, December 7 (7pm kick-off).

Eden is a cracking player but is he a realistic target, given he is on the radar of all the top clubs ,and they can offer him Champions League football

Eden

BBC sport

Ajax captain Luis Suarez gets seven-game ban for biting
Ajax captain Luis Suarez has accepted a seven-match ban for biting PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal's shoulder in Saturday's 0-0 league draw.
His club, who have unilaterally fined and banned the Uruguayan for two games, will not appeal against the punishment.
Suarez will be sidelined domestically until 4 February next year, but remains eligible for European competition.
Saturday's incident against PSV happened in stoppage time after referee Bjorn Kuipers showed Ajax's Rasmus Lindgren a straight red for a rough tackle on playmaker Ibrahim Afellay.
Suarez argued with Bakkal, who stood on the Uruguayan's foot, prompting him to bite the PSV midfielder's shoulder, although the incident was missed by the referee.
In reaching their decision over the severity of Suarez's punishment, the Dutch Football Federation said they had taken the player's previous conduct into account.
The forward, who has scored seven goals this season, still had a suspended one-match ban hanging over him following a red card in the season-opening Johan Cruyff Bowl match in July.
Although he will miss Ajax's next six Eredivisie fixtures, and the Dutch Cup tie with AZ, Suarez will be eligible to play in the Champions League group match against AC Milan on 8 December.
Ajax's 4-0 home defeat by Real Madrid on Tuesday ended their hopes of reaching the knockout stage but they can finish third in Group G to clinch a consolation place in the Europa League

Fucking Animal..... biting should only be used in straightners and only if your on the end of  getting a good leathering  :D ..... seriously he's a scum bag and I hope we are never again associated even in press rumours  with this thug

I haven't watched Eden closely with Lille, is he really that good? or will he be another over hyped player? From what I've seen (a little bit), he looks like a very technical player who can make space for himself, loads of tricks and has an excellent right foot shot. I haven't seen his intelligence play to comment on him, but in terms of technical ability he is really good for an 18 year old.

Only 19 years old. He has some serious potential.

Not getting overly excited but I am happy with the players we are being linked with in January.

The likes of Gervinho, Hazard, Shawcross and co are the right kind of players we should be looking at. Early 20's, hungry, big potential etc. If we can get a good balance of homegrown with the likes of A Young, Ireland with some of these foreign youngsters then happy days...

I would also like to see some experience and I also note that there is no defensive midfielder mentioned yet.
