MANCHESTER UNITED VS LIVERPOOL - Sunday, september 19th.

Liverpool Football Club - Games

shi.t result and same ol same ol really.  Again, we started really poor and had no gameplan other than to "contain" united.  Well that didnt work out.  I think our wide players had orders to play more central.  Cole and Maxi were constantly playing narrow.  Lack of width made it difficult for us to attack.

We were terrible at defending crosses.  Firstly... we were bad at preventing them from coming in.  Then we were even worse in the air.  Surely Roy should give the Greek a go?  Benny did say after the birmingham game that we would be destroyed in the air against quality opposition and we were.

There was some positives though... it was nice to see Gerrard getting some important goals again and Meirles playing well.
After we equalized i thought we might go on and win it.  But it seems like we started playing for a draw again.

No gameplan and no ambition are 2 very worrying signs that our manager is displaying.

Oh.. and I agree with RBG, Poulsen had a fantastic second half.

What did he did in the second half that was fantastic as i couldnt see it mate

Tactically, positionally and his passing was excellent throughout the second half.

He made one good cross field pass - tactically ? in what sense .

Positionally - if he was supposed to be ten yards away from any manc player then spend ages closing them down he did that superb.

Poulson was brilliant in the second half.

Benny - His short passing was what was best, not long passing. He kept the ball in midfield very well and always made himself available.

So short passing is now ok and called brilliant ?!The same things that used to be labelled sh.ite for lucas as all he does is pass it short ?!

How does that work ?

Short passing can be brilliant benny.. look at arsenal for gods sake.

The difference between Poulsen and Lucas' passing is that Poulsen didnt give the ball away, he retained it very well under a lot of pressure, I bet you any money if it was Lucas attempting it he would have either flapped and passed it back to Reina (forcing him to hoof it and lose possesion) or he would have misplaced the pass.

I will look out for it mate as at the moment I'm extremely worried about his defensive side of his duties - cheers .

I think he understands that we need wingers mate, we just cant afford em!

I completely agree that we need proper wingers though, it makes such a huge difference.

Why are you worried though? the mancs had nothing in the midfield. It was all from their wingers beating our fullbacks. All 3 goals.

I didnt think Poulsen had a good game today, bar the spell where we scored the 2 goals and they were on the back foot, his lack of pace is frightning, he makes Xabi Alonso look like an Olympic Sprinter ffs! Was alot more impressed with what I saw of Meireles, he may be getting drafted into the dream team this week

The previous manager went because he was doing a poor job and the new guy has been brought in to put things right but it cant be done in 5 league games by god himself let alone Roy Hodgson. We lost by one goal at Utd after rallying back from 2 down which dont often happen there and the ball is round and sometimes it runs against you. If we are talking about inherting teams then our previous manager was handed one good enough to take the Champs League but left us in 7th, without a shred of class left and £6m in his back pocket from our coffers for the pleasure. Its :censored: losing to United but complete hysteria at this point is utter madness.

The reason the wide areas had so much joy was because Scholes and Fletcher had all the time in the world to pick their passes out due to no pressure at all from our midfield - by the time Poulsen mainly got to them they just went right past him with ease

Today he is merely a victim of a poor manager who cannot design play or movement in the final third...

get your head out of your hole and go educate yourself with more football if this is how limited you are.
