Replacing managers is never a sure thing Reg but at this point we have no other option but to get rid or else write this season off. At the moment Ancelotti and klopp are available and would be a massive upgrade and inject a new belief into the the club that it so badly needs. Other than those maybe frank de boer who is still an upgrade on rodgers and a safer bet than a monk or howe. The former are steps forward and the latter sideways again and I do not think the fan-base will tolerate that any more.

I think Klopp would be the best bet myself. Very similar to rafa and the experience he had before taking over.

Do you think Ancelotti has the energy and drive at his age? If we had a Chelsea style squad I'd happily have him but maybe he'd come for the money but the actual task would be beyond his motivation at his age - having just come from Real Madrid for example.

I wouldn't think that would be a problem as he is only a year older than rafa and a few years younger than pelegrini, van gaal and wenger. Having just come from madrid as well would be a positive for me in that he could attract better players to rebuild. I wouldn't write off all our squad but we need better players than what we are currently attracting and the ability to make them perform.

Ancelotti is only 1 year older than Rafa mate!
I'd prefer Klopp myself as I feel he might be a bit 'hungrier' for success than Ancelotti but either of them would do.
I don't think that is the road FSG want to go down though, if Rodgers does go it looks like we will end up with another up and coming manager like Monk or Howe, FSG wouldn't even speak to the current Real Madrid manager 3 years ago because they were too busy talking to the likes of Martinez, Lambert and Rodgers.

What I'm questioning is his energy level, his enthusiasm to take on such a a big job, not his birthday.

Maybe we should hire Milner as player/manager.
