so its easy to see why some are staying clear of the club.

how would you all feel if we did get a new owner but they said " we are not looking to build a new ground but will look at it again in 5 years, we are going to bild a winning team first"

Don't agree there Lakes. Man city weren't exactly great when they got took over and neither were Chelsea and they haven't got the name and pedigree like a Global renowned name like Liverpool F.C.

The only reason we are not taken over yet is because we have 2 greedy b@stards who think they can get FAR more for the club than what it's worth.

not the same mate, they already had a nice new ground, the new owner only had to buy the team, we are not the same.

Ok city but Chelsea capacity still isn't great though.

He sounds frustrated.
I thinks he wants to be in a team that is 'challenging' for something. Key word here is challenging.
Not in a team looking to make up the numbers, not in a team trying to get 4th place. But in a team challenging for top spot.
If things doesn't improve, can't blame him if he wants away.

good bit on the radio today, it said that G&H have no power left at the club but are stopping the sale of the club due to them trying to cover money they spent on the club, the reporter then said that he has not been able to find any money they G&H have spent on the club that has not come out of a loan in the clubs name.

he also said that work is going ahead to sell the club and the club are not willing to let G&H bring in a 3rd party to cover the debts.

yes it was on talkshit but the guy was from ML that was talking.

That Hicks rights issue must be a complete waste of time and money, our inability to attract a buyer past Kenny the Spiv and a keebab shop owner plus our failure to bring in much needed players during the transfer window only further weaken their reputations and position.

I was thinking something similar as you RG.

So imagine buying a club that has been consistently winning and looking like a good team to challenge for the title (or top 4 in our case) compared to a team who is measured on the same level, but not doing as well. You wouldn't want to pay that much more for a team that is just playing well at the moment when you could get a team that maybe looks like they are having trouble and need to be pointed in the right direction.

Look at Newcastle.  Mike Ashley is a dumb sh!t. He puts the club up for sale when they get relegated, when they are worth the least.  I'm surprised an investor didn't pick that up because, at that moment, that's the best buy possible.  That club still makes a lot of money and would go back up to the prem within 2 years, no doubt.  They get back into the prem and their value has just nearly doubled.

Very few people look to buy clubs like city did.  They don't just want to splash cash out, they want a good investment.  So Liverpool struggling, with no stadium is a good investment because an investor knows that they can make a lot more money in building a new stadium and that it will be easy to please the fans, considering turning their bad fortune around should be simple.

Understand what I'm saying?  Don't look for a buyer that wants to blow hundreds of millions on the club, because that probably won't happen, it very very rarely does.  People buy these clubs as investments, which means they do plan on making money in the long run by properly growing the club.

Have you read this thread through? Lakes isn't the only one who has posted "ramblings".

Guys heres a letter template just add your own name some emails might bounce back but that doesnt matter, we have to crank up the pressure 33 DAYS TO GO!!

To whom it may concern,

I apologise for this unsolicited email and understand that you have received many other emails on this subject. However please understand that this is an issue which means a lot to many people and we feel we have to make our collective voice heard. You are receiving this letter from a concerned and deeply worried fan of Liverpool Football Club of over 25 years. As you may know we are an internationally recognised club with a global fan base. I'm sure this was part of the reason your bank financed Tom Hicks and George Gillette in the first place, and your desire to carry on being the clubs bankers in the foreseeable future.

Since financing in 2007 many things have changed. The debt on LFC has spiralled out of control. Interest payments alone are running higher than the club is making annually, therefore the club is falling deeper and deeper into debt. As your bank is majority owned by the British government, and by extension the British taxpayer, we are sickened that the tax pounds that were used to help your institution during the banking crisis are now being used to fund ownership of our club. Ownership which is currently having a detrimental affect to the club's ability to operate and will have a lasting negative impact on the club for years to many come.

It has been reported that Messrs Hicks and Gillette have approached the following financial institutions seeking to refinance.

    * Beach Point Capital Management
    * Halcyon Group
    * Blackrock
    * Davidson Kempner Capital Management LLC
    * Stone Tower Capital LLC
    * Trimaran Capital Partners
    * DE Shaw & Co
    * Avenue
    * Centrebridge Partners LP
    * The Blackstone Group / GSO Capital Partners LP

If it is the case then it makes a mockery of the whole sales process. If these reports are true it was never the intention of our owners to sell the club and this was a tactic to quell supporter unrest. Mr Hicks has been reported as placing a value of £600m to £800m on the club. This is a vastly inflated price for a club which was purchased for £187m three years ago. Liverpool is one of the world's best known and most supported football clubs. The fact that there have as yet been not serious offers to purchase the club demonstrate that Mr  Hicks' valuation is fanciful and an intentional ploy to avoid selling, whilst continuing to load debt against the club and his other holding companies. In normal circumstances no football supporter wishes their club would fall into administration. However for Liverpool supporters these circumstances are far from normal. Administration, or temporary takeover by RBS, would be welcomed by the vast majority of supporters as we accept the current ownership regime must not go on.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

ethnar,

The outlay needed for an investor to take over Liverpool is in fact probably what is putting potential buyers off.

What does this mean ?

MUNDODEPORTIVO.es

Agencies - 01/09/2010 17:31

The FC Barcelona Liverpool paid 24 million euros for the hiring of Javier Mascherano, a figure that has kept secret the last few days at the request of the British bank, but without explaining the reason for it.

Why would the banks want the fee kept secret?
