How can you possibly make such an uneducated selection when by your own admission only yesterday you haven't got a clue what sovereign wealth is?

Well that fact that the Syrian guy is so closely linked with Gillett irks me and that Rhone group would probably bring in more leveraged debt.

Plus going by that Times article this morning thy seem to be the best option for the club.

So your selection is based on the inability of the other possible buyers rather than the ability of your preferred buyer! That just maybe how we ended up with G & H !!!!!

Yes well unfortunatley for you, you can't thank me for that one. But you can send yoru regards in to David Moores and Rick Parry.

Kenny Huang: ‘No more updates until Liverpool choose to talk’

By Nick Harris

5 August 2010

A spokeswoman for Kenny Huang, whose interest in Liverpool has graduated from the back pages to the front pages of British newspapers this morning amid claims that he is backed by the China Investment Corporation, has told sportingintelligence this morning that confirmation of any further developments must come from Liverpool.

A spokeswoman for Huang, 46, speaking this morning from the Hong Kong office of Hill & Knowlton, said: “We will not confirm or deny any matter associated with the Liverpool Football Club unless and until we and the representatives of Liverpool FC have chosen to do so jointly.”

This throws the ball back into Liverpool’s court, but crucially, does not actually confirm whether CIC, which manages funds of $332bn, is in fact backing Huang’s potential takeover of the club.

As sportingintelligence reported last night, Liverpool’s board has had NO proof of funding yet from any of the potential bidders for the club.

It has yet to be established beyond doubt whether CIC is indeed backing Huang, which would be completely new direction for CIC to take.

This website understands that Huang has also, so far, not made it clear to his own PR advisors whether he is actually backed by CIC or not.

More details on Huang’s denial yesterday of any formal bid and on his business interests, can be found in here.

In what remains a hugely confusing story, sportingintelligence has been forwarded a draft statement allegedly prepared on behalf of Kenny Huang by separate PR advisors within China; this statement is now in circulation within media circles in mainland China.

The statement includes the lines: “Mr Huang would also like to deny that there is any involvement of Mainland China state-owned enterprises in his business dealings. If there is any related development, he will make a further announcement.”

Hill & Knowlton in Hong Kong say they have no knowledge of this statement, and will provide further confirmation of its authenticity when they can. At the time of writing – 10am on Thursday morning, UK time – H&K say that Kenny Huang is traveling and unreachable for further comment at the moment. He is on business and his plane is due to land in four hours.

Benny this so true. But, there is one thing that scares me. I really believe the board would go against broughton. How do we not know that Purslow hasnt been offered a sweetner from Hicks? Isnt Ayre also hicks man?

its just a fear i have. I really hope the Haung bid goes through. Its similar to DIC takeover, which would of been bebeficial to us.

We can see what hicks does. Look at today with the rangers. He's defaulted on so much. The man doesnt care.

Does anybody know who can vote on the board and what the split is?

It is my understanding the board is made up of Hicks, Gillett, Purslow, Ayre and Broughton.

Like any vote, it is a majority decision.

My understanding too. The americans are in the minority, but it only takes one vote to swing it their way. - if Purslow / Ayre were unsure it could go either way

I thought Gillette's son was on the board. Did he go when Hicks jnr was thrown out?

I just find it difficult to believe that G & H own the company but they can be voted out. Do all the board members carry an equal vote?

That was the exact same attitude with G & H. And when we crossed the bridge it was too late. Ciggy whilst we agree on very little you were partly responsible for convincing me that G & H were little more than glorified confidence tricksters. I defended them during their early days because most of the criticism they received was aimed at the fact that they had borrowed money rather than utilising their own funds. This in isolation at the time was not necessarily a bad thing and typical business practice. What however followed was a leverage process that has endangered the very existence of LFC. On that basis let's never use the phrase we'll cross that bridge when we come to it because it will be too late!

Just a bit! We didn't go near Shinawatra because of his human rights record but I don't recall it getting a mention during his stay at City.

Be reasonable devaney.

Man City are owned essentially by the Saudi Royal family.

What is Saudi Arabia's human rights record like?

Personally I would rather not be involved with any government.  Dont matter what there policies or human rights record is I dont like the idea of governments buying football clubs.

look at the problems during the build up to the olympic games. armed guards had to be used in the end to stop them from putting out the flame.

what would happen is that as soon as there is a problem over there we will be used by the human rights campaigner in the UK as a target.

Liverpool suitor Yahya Kirdi wants buy-out finalised by start of Premier League season
Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi is pressing to secure the purchase of Liverpool before the start of the Premier League season, and is hoping to hold face-to-face talks with Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks next week.

By Paul Kelso, Chief Sports Reporter
Published: 10:53AM BST 05 Aug 2010

Kirdi’s proposal has been overshadowed this week by Kenneth Huang’s Chinese government-backed bid for the club, but on Wednesday Kurdi announced he was in advanced negotiations with Hicks and Gillett and had agreed a price.

Last night the Canadian broker handling negotiations said they were pressing for a swift conclusion to the deal. Kurdi is negotiating directly with the American owners rather than Broughton and BarCap, engaged in April at the insistence of RBS to oversee the sale of the club.

Dan Diamond, a partner in Gameday, the Canadian management consultancy working for Kurdi, told the Daily Telegraph overnight that one of his partners has already met with Broughton and they will press to seal a deal in the next ten days.

“Our target is to have our investors come to the opening game of the season on knowing that they have a deal,” he said.

“One of our partners has already met with Martin Broughton and if we proceed to the next stage of this negotiation our plan is to bring together Mr Kurdi, his investors, together with Tom Hicks and George Gillett and Martin Broughton, to execute the final purchase agreement and allow Martin to conduct his own ‘sniff test’ on the deal.”

Diamond, who is familiar with Hicks and Gillett through their former NHL ice hockey franchises, said if the meeting goes ahead it will take place in Europe.

Diamond said Kurdi, who has been negotiating with Hicks and Gillett since November last year, was backed by four major investors from the Middle East, though he declined to name them or to provide details of the offer they have made to the Americans.

He did say that they have agreed a fee with the Americans that includes taking on the £237m loan from RBS, providing funding for a new stadium and some transfer activity, and an equity consideration for Hicks and Gillett.

“We will reveal the names of the investors when it is appropriate but they have got the scratch to do this. This has never been about whether they have the money, its always been about the deal. The investors have provided proof of funds to the owners and I believe that information has been shared with Martin Broughton.”

Kirdi’s deal has the support of Hicks and Gillett as it is likely to offer them a bigger profit on the sale than Huang’s aggressive takeover, which appears predicated on forcing the Americans out by persuading RBS and the non-American majority on the board – Broughton, managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre – that he should have control. Diamond said that Kurdi and the Americans were keen to avoid a boardroom stand-off and would seek a consensus, but said the owners would assert their rights if they came under pressure to accept a deal they were not happy with.

“None of us wants to be in the unpalatable position of pressing the point that Tom Hicks and George Gillett have the right to sell something that they own. But we believe that our bid is satisfactory and deals with the stadium, the debt and it deals with Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

“The enthusiasm of the investors will also ensure that there are sufficient funds to allow the owners to get the best possible help that can be found and execute an intelligent program to advance the club up the league table.”

With Huang’s heavyweight interest and the presence of at least one other significant bidder, thought to be the Rhone Group, still interested in the club Kurdi’s hopes of sealing a deal as quickly as Diamond hopes may be fanciful.

Broughton does want to secure new ownership by the end of the month if he can however, and the next week increasingly looks as if it may be a decisive one for the club.
