Im sceptical as ever no matter who takes over, at the end of the day all these people want to do is make money from us.  But they have to invest first and have money behind them and not have credit notes and huge debts like T & T.
There is massive potential for our brand name in Asia, but does winning trophys then take a back seat? The same goes for this Kirdi fella wheres he getting the money from because he's no millionair it will be from more borrowed money another LBO, the same with Rhone.

We need a Left back, central midfielder, right winger, and a striker, thats all we dont need to spend like City because it will all go pear shaped plus I dont think Roy could handle big ego's in the dressing room, I dont think he's the type of man to go for these types either.

We need about 100 million invested in this squad before the season starts, as much as I like Kuyt he is not the answer to our right side, and if Mascherano leaves Lucas is not the answer in CM either.

If we can add some real quality before the start of the season everyone will be buzzing, but this new owner must keep investing and not do what T & T done borrowing huge amounts then selling players off to recoup the debt, we will be back to square one.

They must build the new stadium, invest in the playing squad want us to win trophys and market us abroad that would be an ideal world, whether this happens or not is another question.

Just caught some news on Sky the Rangers was sold yesterday for 300 odd million and they are threatening to re-coup the funds from Hicks other sports franchises

Good post Treywn! Out of the 3 current parties in the running I'd have to side with Huang. I don't expect them to throw away money each year but I would expect them to at least get our squad in a good nough shape to get back into the top 4 and later push for the title.

I don't think we will have 100 mill to spend in this transfer window, and even if we did could we manage to spend that amount in the short amount of time left?

When Roy arrived he knew he only had what money he raised from sales to spend so all his time will have been spent looking at players in a price bracket which we can afford.  If all of a sudden we don't really have to worry too much about how much a player costs he will need to start checking out totally new players now. I would hope before we buy any player the manager has had the time to study him in great detail before making a bid.

Strengths, weaknesses, injuries, how you get on with team mates etc all need to be checked before you start with your opening bid.. is there time for all that?

Was just watching the sports journo from the Express on SSN. He reckons that first and foremost the Chinese objective will be to make a profit out of LFC from exposure in the chinese market. Winning trophy's in itself will not be a priority, however to massively increase Liverpools fanbase in China Liverpool will have to be successful which means winning things.

Money will not be a problem but the chinese are unlikely to throw it around in the way the owners of Chelsea and Man City have.

More ominously the journo reckons we'll be playing pre season tours of China and possibly be saddled with one or two chinese players purely for profile.

If we had 30-40 million then Figeroa at left back, Carlton Cole as a bloke up top and Steven Ireland in midfield would leave us a bit of change and would give us a squad capable of challenging for and even possibly winning the title IMHO. If there was another 20 mill or so going, I'd get that lad Ruiz off of Benfica.

I know I've said this for a while though, but we've actually got a pretty good team and with only a sprinkling of additions, are good enough to push anyone close.

As for my preferred owners (bringing it back to topic) I don't have a clue but hold a gun to my head and I'd go for the Chinese. They are fiercely competitive people, and they'll do anything and everything to put us back on top. I wouldn't fancy being in a managers shoes who fecked it up, but they'll put everything into making the thing a success.

I'm sure if it came to it he could identify a few high profile targets who could slot in nicely. We all probably could.

But I also have to rchos Cggy's comments about him being able to manage big egos. Nice lads like Stevie and Torres are 1 thing but I don't want to see us going for disruptive mercenaries like Adebayor.

That's a good point Woof, but I'm not sure it would be such a liability. Their best kids must be OK for starters (I'm talking under 14's) so bringing a couple over isn't going to hurt anyone. Even their best senior players could make the odd sub appearance in the early rounds of the Carling Cup, and my guess is that before very long their best players will be very good. When you have the capability which they do, to take out the best 5000 kids and give them one on one coaching every day for 6 years, you're bound to polish up a nugget or two. You've only got to look at what they've done in swimming, athletics, tennis etc etc to see what their capable of, what anyone is capable of given these economies of scale.

Obviously don't want this thread to turn into a wishlist thread but surely if Roy was given 100mil could be better spent with more consistent and proven players?

I'm with you on Figueroa but I'd then maybe get Defour/Ozil and then Lukaku or Dzeko.

Understand where you're coming from Mick. I know nothing about chinese football or their players, do know however that apart from winning one regional trophy they've so far achived b'ugger all. disclaimer,That of course could change

I all suggest you go out and buy today's Times. I know it may be a bit much for some of you here, but it's worth the effort.

Two points stood out the most to me from the article(s).

1) The Chinese bid makes most sense to the long term future of LFC. They expect to make money from the club by primarily building a new stadium and also focussing heavily on marketing the club in the far east. Maximising the revenue from an enormous fan base. This all fits in with the existing moves the club have already made to create more exposure in the far east - Standard Chartered focus their business in the far east.

2) This is scary. It's best to quote this directly from the article - "...an offer may not materialise until next week. And the supporters know that seven days are a long time for Hicks and Gillett. The Americans have appeared on the brink of defeat at Anfield a number of times but have emerged to extract more interest payments. They have already seen off one sovereign wealth fund in Dubai Investment Capital and they remain eager to keep control of the club unless they get the profit they are looking for."

Thats my view an all there are gonna be fighting tooth an nail to walk away with something, I an see them not letting go very easy. And i said before i just cant see this being done anywere near before the transfer window closes, Its what 25 days now till it shuts, surely you have to have a period of due diligence, and also how longdoes that fit and proper owners thing take, the time scale is just to short imo for us to achcieve anything before transfer deadline  day, There would be nothing better and i wish so much that these two end up with sloping back to were they come from with empty pockets getting not one penny from us, that would mean more to me than us buying a new striker any day , That would be the icing on the cake for me, they came with nothing let them go home with nothing, I just pray now that whoever it is comes in is the right one,
