He has faith in our ability to make the CL for the following season. A sign of his ambitionFor now he'll just be happy to get back playing regular football again after an interrupted past couple of years. Who could blame him for wanting to do that at the most successful club in English football history, under a steady-eddy manager like Hodgson who is sure to use him sensibly, and alongside players of the ilk of Gerrard and Torres? You just don't get these things at Arsenal or Spurs.
Benny The Noon wrote:A free transfer is never a free transfer - doesnt matter what chelsea paid benny as a signing on fee - we got 5 mil ish for benny - nothing more - so if we paid out around 2- 4 mil to cole thats some of the money gone already - plus 30 to 40 grand a week extra - so financial i think we are no better off .
Benny The Noon wrote:But Chelsea didnt give us 8 million did they - they gave us around 5 million and Yossi a signing on fee . But we as a club dont get the 8 million do we . Take away from the 5 million any signing on fee given to cole and then we have profit - then add up how much extra we pay cole which is reported to be 30 grand a week extra and that starts eating into the profit . A free transfer is never free .
If he is on 90 grand a week thats 4.5 mil a year - he is going to sign for 4 years so that totals up to 18 million plus any signing on fee .
So while we have got him without paying a transfer fee he is far from being free .

Benny The Noon wrote:We could indeed sell him next season for 10 million and then make a profit on him . As for financial risk well we don't risk loosing a transfer fee that is true but that's a mighty big contract to offer someone who IMO off course isn't the same player at the moment than he was 3 seasons ago when he was oustanding and previous seasons - mainly due to that serious injury . If he recovers that form then we got a cracking player and I hope that is the case hence why I'm waiting to see before being extremely excited about him signing .
Off course its just my opinion and I hope we are still allowed to have one without fear on here
