Send out a wider message as well. Gerrard and Torres on there way out? Don't think Cole would have signed had that been the case. Gives Roy the option to drop Gerrard back into MF and play Cole off of Torres or play Cole as part of fluid 3 (take your pick of Jovanovic, Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel, Pacheco) behind Torres.

If he gets regular football then we have a really good addition to the squad.

Well done Roy.

That's Cole and Jovanovic signed without spending anything on transfer fees. Pretty decent summer so far.

The sales of Yossi and Riera = £10m(ish) so that covers the potential signing of Loic Remy (well we might have to find a few million from somewhere...).

Leaves the Mascherano saga to be sorted (I expect him to move on) that will bring in £20m - £30m and possibly Babel for £10m and Roy has a nice wee kitty to work with to bring in a CM, a LB and a CB. If Cole is an indication of the kind of player Roy can attract then I expect he'll find some real quality with that kind of money.

Clearly better than Benayoun, what's with the moaning and negativity?

The negative ones on here are almost as destructive as the owners, makes me sick.

So now people who are a bit unsure still with everything are as bad as the owners ?! what ever next .

Made up with this signing

You can laugh all you want but if we keep the players we have and everyone is fighting fit I honestly believe we can have a tilt at the title this season. New manager, new outlook, new mentality

Roll on the Arsenal game   :nod

When you think about it is like doing a swap deal for Benayoun and coming out with a 5m profit and a more skilful and (English player).Come on now a few more shrewd buys Roy lad.

Add another striker as back up to Torres and hope skrtel recovers form - add a decent left back and we got a chance to get back amongst the top 4 - we really need that back up to torres as its a big if with him staying fit all season .

Depends on if it is 5 mil profit - all depends on what Coles signing on fee is - plus his wages will be higher as well .

If returns to his form before his injury then yes no doubt as i have stated a few times - at this moment unsure .

well, that's your opinion i guess. Everyone else is made up with the fact we've got a he's a 15 million pound player and we've got him for FREE.

Chelsea fans are also upset that they've lost Cole and PAID for Benny

Well in Roy lad, well in.

It's hard to argue with Benny really. What he's saying is if Cole plays to his best from then it's a good signing, but if he plays sh!t or gets injured then it isn't. At the moment he's unsure which of the two scenarios are likely to come to pass. In other news, if Messi comes available on a free we aren't interested, because there's a chance he may play sh!t or get injured or both.

Yet no one is wandering why Chelsea didnt want to give in to his demands and offer him a new contract ? Why Man Utd turned down the chance ?

Its very unusual for Chelsea to let players go for free if they are an integral part of the team ?

i was going on holiday, but not sure. If i got and its hot the holiday will be good. But if it rains and is cold it will be rubbish. I'm undecided.  :D
