I'm not taking sides here but dissing at SOS calling them names you do the same thing that you oppose. Some people burned US Flag and Americans can feel offended, but at the same time all SOS member which wouldn't do such a thing may also feel offended by your words.
Think about it mate.

ok, fair point, maybe my anger got the better of me and i take back the insults. my point remains the same tho, a major rethink is needed. SOS just need a PR plan.

You know what is a terrible shame that all the people complaining about the Stars & Stripes flag being burned are english yet they havent mentioned them poor people that got murdered and injured by that lunatic on wednesday in Yorkshire. There is more outrage over the flag than them people who where killed and injured.
Have a word with yourselves seriously.
Is this not more important? or as SS suggested now rafa has gone next target SOS.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

That's how it comes across, pure and simple.

i am a member of SOS and regularly receive emails about meetings and activities (i can't make it to meetings myself because i'm not based in liverpool anymore). i have also had a good read of the website and discussed things with other members. i just rechecked the website to make sure and i'm damned if i can find anywhere in any of these lines of communication where it even suggests that the issue is the nationality of the owners. surely if it was the cornerstone of their message it would be leaping off the page at me, right?

to be more precise, point number 3 in the 'why should i join?' section says

"We are not against the current owners because they want to make money from the club, or because they are American, or even because they have no understanding or concept of our history and traditions."

not quite sure where you are getting your ideas from...

Can i ask you a Question Kewell you say your a journo for a national newspaper , And you come across to me as a good red , Why did you find the need to show that pic on your phone to your other journo mates if you say your embarressed by some Liverpool fans, Because to me that is stoking the fire, You say they think we are a joke why do you want to discuss our buissiness once again with other journos , your just giving them more ammunition to fire at us, Were under enough of the spotlight at the moment without a Liverpool supporter feeding and ridiculing us more to there journo mates , Thats what i cant get my head around,

I know if i was a journo id be defending my club and support against any media bile that comes out , I certainly wouldnt be laughing and calling us stupid to other Journos

The bottom line, to me, is that SOS has to do a better job of seperating itself from this behavior to be taken seriously.  They have already been scrutinized in the past for similiar situations and it, imo, hinders their ultimate goal.  Whatever your feelings are about the situation, this type of protest should not be condoned by SOS.  I applaud SOS for what they have done in the fight against the owners, and I support the agenda of it, but things like this do not sit well with me.  I never am the one to try to disrespect anyone either, but at the same time you have to try to galvanise ALL supporters and for me some actions by some fans are not things I would look at in a bright light.  I get upset by some things posted here too because it feels like people just want to do something, anything about what's going on and imo stuff like this has to be well thought out and planned very thoroughly.

Don't ask me what I would suggest, because I honestly don't know.  If I was closer to the situation such as being able to actively affect SOS meetings and had more time to devote to finding the right way to go about it maybe I would but I'm not so yeah.  I'm just trying to share my view on the situation, I had to say something because this, along with other hot topics was honestly making me not want to be on these boards.  I think many, many others feel the same way as well but who knows.  The constant bickering back and forth over a multitude of subjects only makes the situation we are in worse, and I prefer to be able to discuss who the next manager will be, who we're going to sign etc etc with a positive mindset about it all.  At the end of the day Liverpool will live through all of this and can only come out better in the end.  No matter who leaves, who stays and what manager or owner we get we're all going to be in the same boat next year supporting the club, players, and manager.  If we finish 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th or win the league, it won't change the way I feel about supporting Liverpool FC.

That said I understand it's a bit early too so I don't expect things to smooth out instantly but I hope, for everyone's sake, that we move on soon.  This has been killing the forum for quite a while now and all this stuff is just makin it worse.  No one seems to be civil anymore and we're at each others throats constantly.  Anyway, I'd like to reiterate that I am not singling anyone out nor am I trying to add fire to the flame, but like we always say it is a discussion forum and people should be allowed to express their opinions.. long as it is done in the right manner.

That's not true. There are going to be Hicks and Gillette banners banded about at the world cup and I know for a fact that those who made it were keen to keep any mention of American out of it as it was a world cup and USA fans could be offended.

But in regards to the flag burning incident, pull your skirt up will you what's the matter with you? Are you really that upset about a little flag? The club is getting killed from the inside here and your worried about the thoughts and feelings of people who don't even give a flying feck about the club?

burning the flag doesn't upset me one bit.

However, the image it portrays to potential investers upsets me greatly. Read my locked thread if you want to know why...

Any worthy investors will look at the clubs history and will know that the club has the best fans in the world, the most passionate fans who care about the club more than anything. They will know they have been taken for a ride and that needs to be put right. They are not going to take an outsiders view of something without looking into the details and then make a decision about spending 500mil on a club. If they are that fickle to be put off at such a thing then I wouldn't want them here anyway. I want someone here who understands the traditions of this club and knows what it needs to get back up on it's feet. To be honest if this sort of thing deters idiot investors then so be it, id rather they :censored: off now anyway so there is no chance of us getting mixed up with another Hicks.

7_kewell, stop stereotyping... SOS do not intend or will not subject themselves to Racist remarks what so ever to the Americans. Their goal is simple: to get rid of the current owners who aren't fit to be proper custodians for the club.

You get 1 or 2 idiots burning flags, that doesn't mean SOS are the ones who are encouraging such stupidity. Lighten up, your overreacting and generalizing that what you journalists do.

There are fewer syllables in "Yanks out" than "Tom and George out" and that's probably one of the reasons why the former has been used on occasions. Perhaps too there is an element of dislike of American values that feeds into that, because G&H represent a small sector of corporate America, which in turn represents a variety of capitalism that doesn't sit well with socialists or indeed many others. Then there's just the whole load of other stuff that people don't like about America :D BUT the overriding point here is this: had G&H honoured their promises and acted as true custodians of the club then those other feelings would never have been engaged, not that this excuses any sweeping generalisations (although it's not like the yanks can't take it) that may or may not have been made but it proves the reason people take to the streets in organised protest isn't because of G&H's nationality, it's because of their actions, and but for their actions this wouldn't even be a debate at all.
