Hopefully Rafa will walk tomorrow morning although I can't see it somehow. This season has been a disaster and quite honestly are we any better than in May 2004? Only in squad terms the team is barely any better.

Tell you what though...HOW Rafa manages to keep himself from headbutting or punching those bleedin' annoying interviewers is beyond me....If anybody asked me the same question week after week, or even today after the game, I'd have decked him...
The man is under enormous pressure all the time. Whatever way people want it to end up, surely he doesn't deserve to be hounded out, or to made feel as welcome as a phart in a wetsuit...

I'm starting to find all this spin in the media simply annoying, he should let the owners run the club (even if it is badly) and just remeber he is an employee who is paid to do a job, nothing more nothing less.
It is probabily right that he has been let down in respect of promises made, but he wont be the first or last manager this has happened to, the differance is most just get on with it and make the best of the situation whilst he has just sulked and moaned which in turn has lost the support of all the media, half the fans and looking at the pitch a good chunk of the players.
He likes his facts so here we go:
1) He has had money, lots of it over 5 full seasons. All the players are now his with the exception of SG and Carra who any team in the land would want. You can argue over how much but over 5 years its in the same bracket as all the top teams and more than Spurs, Villa, City, Everton and Arsenal who are around us.
2) Out of all the wonder kids bought for 1 - 2 million a pop, how many have made it through over 5 years ? Pachecho the closest and he has only played he for 3 sub appearance is a season were we have had nothing to lose for the best part. And to achieve this we lost a legend in Steve Highway.
3) He Can't man manage, Keane, Crouch, Babel, Reira, Alonso ect ect ect.
4) He has made himself and Liverpool FC a laghing stock with a succesion of embarrising attempts at playing the media, and gifted the mancs "RAFA'S RANT"
5) He has brought a boring defensive style to the club which only looks slightly more exciting and works when we have Torres and SG on together, a whole system built around two players in a league as demanding as the Premiership, insane.
I have no doubt Rafa has some good qualities and could well win the league however only if given an unlimited budget, unlimited time and unlimited control of the club. I hear all his supporters and for a long time tried to back him myself but it is now so obvious a change is needed to freshen things up, he can say what he likes but seventh this season is an absolute disgrace with the players and funding he has had.

THESE ARE NOT FACTS, THEY ARE OPINION!

It's ridiculous how often people do this on the forum.

Wise up you idiot.

Brilliant post some quite reasonable points and get told to "Wise up you idiot" whats the point of having a discussion forum if people get abused for posting an opinion they believe just because somebody else does not ?
Also I think you will find that points 1, 2 and 4 are facts.
Fed up of people trying to defend something which cannot be defended... We are Liverpool FC and we are fighting for 6 - 7 place under a manager who has had charge for 5 years with reasonable finances, it is a total joke in my OPINION his ego has totally taken over and his stubboness and poor judgement has hurt the team more than anything this season.

Benitez has run out of excuses and run out of time. What happened to the "fourth place guarantee"? As for being hounded out is that why the fans have still been singing his name at the recent home games? I can't remember a team going from second to seventh since the early 90s it's been pitiful. I'd be happy with Sammy Lee or Phil Thompson in charge than this joker quite honestly. He's just taking the p*** out of the club now he should go with his held high having at least won a European Cup. If only he'd realised from day one that the title mattered more to the fans and had implemented a transfer strategy from day one to win the title rather than on dominating in Europe things wouldn't be so bad now.

Get back in your pram shabelle. I wish people would stop harping on about 'the promise'. What about the promise from the owners to give Rafa £25Mil to spend plus whatever he brings in from sales? FFS If Rafa had been able to spend more we wouldn't be in this situation, that I can guarantee!

And you say Sammy Lee in charge? Do you know what happened last time he was in charge of any side? Sorry but as big a part of our history they are some people are better number 2's. Some of the fans are a :censored: disgrace. I heard there was someone in the centenary box today with a blue banner that said 'RAFA OUT We deserve better'.

Like I said he should have walked a long time ago and I wouldn't blame him if he walked out now.

Don't worry Shabelle soon you will be singing Roy Hodgsens name. Better get yer song making hat on...

Rafa didnt have to come out and guarantee a 4th place finish.  He publically did though and now has to face up the reality he failed to deliver CL football for Liverpool FC next season.  This is now his 2nd season where we have finished below 4th.  Thats just not good enough. I want new owners as much as anyone else but Rafa has to go.  We need a change!!

It does my head in all this constant moaning about Rafa.Maybe it is time for a change,  but if there is no money to spend no manager will make a difference so just get use to seasons of mediocrity

BavLondon if you've seen my other posts on these blogs you'd have seen that I don't want Hodgson as the next boss. As for the money situation what about the £20 million on Keane? What about Aquilani? Who p***** off Alonso in 2008 that led him to leave last summer? Who bought Morientes, Nunez, Kromkamp, Pennant, Gonzalez, Bellamy etc.? Benitez has had funds since 2004 but has wasted them buying too many in quantity instead of the right quality at the right times. Above all else it's Benitez's tactics that have destroyed any chance of challenging in the PL. Look at how Lucas performed when the shackles were at home to Benfica. I don't know what is wrong with Benitez if he doesn't believe that these players are capable of playing high tempo pass and move football he should have walked a long time ago.

Sometimes a manager gets sacked and you dont think it was fair. Sometimes you think he should have been given a better chance to turn the club around. Sometimes it comes out of the blue and it dosent feel right.

Mark Hughes at Man City being an example.

And then sometimes you have a feeling that everything is pointing that a managers time is up. Sometimes you think that the players can feel it and that the fans, even the biggest backers, feel that maybe the time has come for a change.

Rafa Benitez at Liverpool being an example

Thanks for Istanbul Rafa and thanks for Cardiff in 2006. Thanks for Athens in 2007 and thanks for bringing Fernando Torres to Liverpool. But your time is up. The club needs a change. We need new owners and a new manager. A fresh start and a clean slate. Everything seems to have gone stale and if we are to get this club back to were it belongs we need a change

Still cant get over the fact that Ancelotti has never been to Anfield before...

The first time he squared up to Rafa as Liverpool boss, things didn't go exactly to plan for dear old Carlo. He probably drove out through the Shankly Gates after today's game feeling somewhat relieved. Then again, even one goal in reply today hardly looked on - never mind three. Five years is a long time, but he must have been surprised at the contrast since that heady night inside the Ataturk.

Things are at their lowest ebb for the club. The only way really IS up from here.

The bottom line is that Benitez has been on borrowed time for long enough and has run out of ideas to turn it round. He's actually in a weaker position than Houllier was in 2004. Houllier had got the team back into the CL when he left and wasn't asking for a fortune to be given another twelve months.
