Palace vs LIVERPOOL - Mon 5th May 2014 - KO 8pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Leon Osman has promised Liverpool that Everton will do all they can to beat Manchester City this weekend and tilt the Premier League title race back in favour of their Merseyside rivals.

Liverpool are relying on a favour from their neighbours after Sunday’s damaging defeat at home to Chelsea handed the advantage to City.

On paper, Saturday’s trip to Goodison Park is the toughest of City’s final three games and Osman has reassured Liverpool that Everton will be professional in going for victory as they try to snatch fourth place from Arsenal.

‘Absolutely,’ said the Everton midfielder. ‘We’re professionals and it’s what we do. It’s a big game at Goodison and we want to enjoy it and win it.

‘City needed to rely on a slip-up by Liverpool to give them a chance so they’re probably favourites now and it’s up to us to stop them.

‘A lot of clubs will be watching this game very closely but we’ve got to put all that out of our minds and do what we always do and go into the game to win.

‘While it’s still mathematically possible we’ll be aiming to achieve it (a top-four finish). We can only do that if we win our last two games which is what we want.

‘With us playing first and being able to put the pressure back on Arsenal, it will be a good thing for us if we make sure we try and win that game.’

The injuries are hopefully not as bad for Everton Saturday.
Baines is fit, Jagielka should also be and Distin is 50-50. Hopefully he will be ok.

Like Osman has said they do need to win, while 4th is unlikely if they win and Arsenal get turned over by West Brom then the gap is 1 point with 1 to play.

All of the other top sides have dropped points there this season, lets hope they continue on that run.

Yes!

My thoughts exactly. What better time that to rewrite history. Imagine the shockwaves if we destroy City's GD advantage in a single game.

last time we won the league we beat them 9-0

Same season they beat us 4-3 to knock us out of the Semi's.

And we could drop points too. Hopefully the effect of the Chelsea game isn't weighing on the players' minds. To lose in such fashion is an injustice to the beauty of football. Plus if City beats Everton, seeing that they play before us, some of the players might be despondent. But I just hope they keep the faith and pray that the other teams do us a favor and beat our rivals.

All our hopes rest in the hands of our arch rivals, how did it come to this?

If Everton do win.... Will we be able to handle the pressure?

I think in a way ,unfortunately ,the pressure is off. It's now City's championship to lose they will be feeling the pressure.

going by todays press the race is over and we lost the race, most are clear in saying theres no way Man city will get beat by Everton today.
not sure about it myself. Arsenal have 2 hard games and the best part is they play after Everton this weekend so Everton will still think they have everything to play for.

No one is going to take points off City, our only hope of winning the title is putting about 7 or 8 past Palace and Newcastle.
I guess all those goals we conceded have come back to haunt us.
