Defensively we are truly pathetic Mick. It's a very negative way of defending...

I don't know about "pathetic", but certainly from crosses we are a long way short of being very good. Aside from crosses, I quite like our patterns and how we sit in (I would like to see us press it higher up though as I've said many times). Poulsen is excellent at hole filling and snuffing out, but principally our problems are both preventing crosses coming in and dealing with them once they get there.

I've advocated the purchase of a commanding centre half for a long time, and I'm afraid until we do it then we will have trouble. In the short term, I remain convinced that Skyrtel is not the best of our options.

The league position isnt great neither have the results been.  A big concern for me is the performances.  We are not exactly playing well and even the win over WBA wasnt deserved.

I really dont care for the dropping so deep and lack of pressing either.

Hopefully the management can take alot from this game we will see a few better performances in the upcoming weeks. Lets drop the doom and gloom for Gods sake, we've got 33 games to go and a number of winnable fixtures coming up. No one is catching Chelsea this season, Im going on record now and say that. They are great in every area and have strength in numbers so the Mancs wont be knocking anyone off their perch for a while. Get the new owners in, some new investment in the team and start on the new stadium and we're well and truly on the up again. Seriously though, the doom and gloom had to be knocked on the head, give the new guy a bit of time to shape the side in his own way.

No mate none of the posse want to sack Roy :D. On the contrary, they really really hope he succeeds. Don't be fooled by the way they gleefully rush to put the boot in, they all really want this Liverpool manager to be a success. Besides, "not one of them has said sack the manager" as no doubt they'll point out soon  .

I saw earlier that you thought that Mereiles was rubbish today. I'm afraid that comment has sealed your fate mate and I'm going to have to put you in the numpty bin. As such, I won't be taking of your observations on the game of association football seriously anymore. It's a shame and I don't like to do it, but you leave me no option.

Gerrard scored a penalty and a great free kick within a ten min period but bar that was quiet - Torres had a couple of good moments, same with cole . Poulsen was a statue throughout he game - nowhere near any manc player and when he got to them they got past him at ease - just watch the winner as a perfect example when he was slow once again to close Scholes down - konchesky was in Nanis pocket all game long .

Benny I can only assume that you are so fired up that you have been able to salivate with your anti-Roy mates all afternoon that you have lost all sense of reason mate.

As such I'm not going to waste my time discussing football with you right now. I'll keep an eye on your posts, and if at some stage they beging to get more sensible, and you beging to post like an actual Liverpool supporter, we'll have a bit of a chin-wag then.

Watch the second goal - konchesky out of position against Nani and failed once again to gett cross in - watch third goal and see Poulsen once again slow to close a player down - scholes .

I watched the game with my eyes open .

We had a great fighting ten to 15 mins and gerrard meireles looked very good . Other than that we were once again lacking creativity , sitting too deep , no pressing , no closing down , and totally toothless .

5 points from 15 points lying 16th in the Prem .

Sorry mate, still got an air of relish smeared all over it I'm afraid. Once you've calmed down and realised that we've got the same number of points from the fixtures that we got last season, then perhaps we can talk about it more sensibly.

I am calm mick - there is zero progress from last season and imo we have gone backwards - backwards in terms of defending , in terms of attacking and in terms of creating chances .

You say people should deny the sky is blue - go round the forums and people on here and they say the same thing about Poulsen yet you deny it .

Ill come back when reality hits you .

Mick i really can't agree with you on the poulson thing mate. We have to make a comparison to mascherano here because he's his direct replacement . Poulson is not mobile mate, he simple sits and covers an area about 15 -20 yards around him . He needs to be quicker more aggresive and more positive in his play . Players seem to drift past him with no pressure on the ball , or they simply pass it around him again with little or no pressure.

Didn't see the game today. Only heard the last 10 mins on the radio while the young fella was asleep.
Reading the posts here it looks like we had another shocker....esp. at the back. As for all the comments about Maxi, what option is there instead of him - Babel ? Seems to be the only one who could possibly fit on that side, but he's cack at tracking back. Once again Torres left to his own devices - is it any wonder he's suggesting he (and Reina) are off in the summer ?
Bad, bad times at Liverpool, no money to bolster the squad, deeper in debt if that ku.nt gets the funds for a buyout.....another loss to the scum.....

If anyone wants cheering up on here I have a little story for yous. I was on the way back from Ibiza in the early hours of the morning to Liverpool Airport and I had this manc behind me, a real loud mouth aswell and when the plane was on the tarmac all I heard was "United United" I thought what a d!ckhead, on a Liverpool bound plane saying sh!te like that and was hoping some of the gangs of Liverpool lads would hear him a few rows ahead of me but they never.Anyway when we wee all waiting for the suitcases there was a 45 minute delay and you could still here is annoying voice and he walked past the other gang of scouse lads in front of me saying in a pure manc accent "Sh!tty Liverpool Airport no f*ckin need for this there probably on strike or something lazy tw@ts" and that was it the other lads had heard him and I knew they would punish him but not in the Airport, they waited outside for him, I was getting in the taxi when they surrounded him outside the Airport but I knew he was getting his come up ince just a pitty I never seen it properly.

Mick, we sit in and don't pressure them... That's why they have so much time and space to cross or pass through the defense. We can't defend like that against good teams, it's suicide.

Yeah, I thought Poulson would be a bit better than Lucas but unfortunately he hasn't proven that to me.  His lack of pace and physicality is a big problem in the position he plays.  Lucas should be ahead of him sadly.

An can someone please tell me what job Poulson was brought here to do. was he bought as a direct replacement for Javier because if thats the case then ha . When Raul came off Stevie done Poulsons and every other fecking player in the middle of the parks job.
Look at the way Javier used to hustle and bustle players . hed close them down within seconds , hed be out wide covering our full backs .helping them out , how many times last season when any of our full backs or wide men lost the ball did you see Javier in there from laft to right cleaning up, Well Poulson didnt do that today Stevie had to try and do his own job and Poulsons job, Im sorry but im not impressed at all with him at the moment , i do hope he will improve because that area is of massive importance ,
