MANCHESTER UNITED VS LIVERPOOL - Sunday, september 19th.

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Zidane » Sat Sep 18, 2010 12:11 am

My heart says we'll win this 2-1 but my head is saying we'll either draw or lose.  This is going to be a tough game but I'm excited about it and I'll be off that day so I'll get to watch it live.

Very nervous about this game. I have a feeling it could be Rooney's day too.

United's game against Rangers was poor but they had practically a reserve team on the pitch. They let it slip against Everton but i don't think they'll make that mistake against us if they go up a couple. My head is saying that it will be a very bad day for us considering how bad we got ripped apart by City and Birmingham.

However we always manage to up our game playing against United so i live in hope. I think its going to be very edgy but i think that it will be a...actually i don't want to predict.

Come on the 'Pool!!!

Or...put Joe Cole on the right and move Gerrard up into the second striker position and then take your pick between Lucas or Poulsen.

Not sure about the keeper....

Hahaha....freudian slip  :eyebrow

I doubt its a fruedian slip

It's the first real test for the squad to see where their heads are at isn't it. Although I always want the win, I would settle for giving a good game. We need to see our defense tighter and we need to see more creativity against tough opposition....most importantly we need to see some fight and belief that we are Liverpool and that's worth a goal by itself....that used to be the way.....we need to show signs of that now.

I don't buy into ManU being rocky up until now....I'd be amazed if they don't come primed for this on Sunday.........big game, lots riding on it, I am nervous as fook

Come on boys

I've got a couple of mates who are Utd fans and they reckon they are playing yery poorly and are nervous about us playing them this weekend.

I thought we looked decent in the 2nd half on Thursday, I think we are improving but we are prbably still a good 6. Games away before everyone is up to speed with the new tactics brought in by Roy.  This is a work in progress and to be fair we have had some tough games  so far.  It makes me laugh that there are people on here being uber critical so early in Roys tenure.

Sunday is going to be a tough game, but they don't like plating us, especially Vidic who will be having nightmares about Torres already, so I'm looking forward to the game
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

What time is KO?
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

Tell you what really got my back up about this game...
I read an interview with that poxy maggot Owen the other day, saying he's up for the Manc derby more than any other game in the calendar a.k.a. belittling the passion and full blooded rivalry between us and them.
Ever since that poxbottle moved to the Scum I've liked him less and less.
I would LOVE to see him absolutely lamped out of it at the weekend. Teach the poxy turncoat a lesson, show him what disrespecting our club means to the players and fans....

Everything they got will come down there left hand side, with Valencia out.

I know it wont happen but it might be worth doing this?

I'd go with this..

                          Reina

Johnson       Carra          Skrtel         Konchesky

               Meireles         Poulsen

  Gerrard                Cole                 Jovanovic

                           Torres

Gerrard down the right would pin Evra back .. Would also get Johnson a little more involved in attacking moves... With Meireles, poulsen, Cole and Gerrard/Jovanovic + Torres coming deep we should have enough bodies to press them higher up...

The big bonus for us though would have to be the danger of Gerrard's balls behind their 2 CBs.. Vidic and Ferdinand have struggled to contain Torres in the past and if someone is there feeding him quality balls behind the pair then he might cause them problems yet again...

Lets be honest here, Gerrard has struggled for some time now in the 2nd striker role and I doubt his presence in CM would add much to our attacking play given the lack of quality down the flanks..

Torres has also been struggling to hold the ball up when we play the long ball and to a large extent that led to him either dropping too deep or moving too wide to try and get a hold of the ball.. With someone like Gerrard operating down the right, that i think would give them the chance to connect better with Gerrard pushing to a more central role when torres comes to the flank..

Wont be expecting much from the game but imo its worth a shout and could solve 1 or 2 of our struggles going forward..

Christ if we are gonna get beat, lets at least do it with a bit of flair. No point in playing a defensive game then maybe losing 0-1 cos we dont have what we need to break Utd down.

Lets go at em

Or...put Joe Cole on the right and move Gerrard up into the second striker position and then take your pick between Lucas or Poulsen.

--------------------------Reina-----------------------------
Johnson----Carragher--------------Agger---------Konchesky
-------------------------Poulsen---------------------------
Jovanovic-------Gerrard----------Meireles--------------Cole
--------------------------Torres----------------------------

We can beat the Mancs with this line up:

We know this game on Sunday can massively kickstart our season and if we adopt the correct game we can beat them IMO.

Torres will start and needs to be on top of his game whether it's Vidic & Rio - Vidic & Evans - Vidic & Brown - Fernando will have them worried. It's important that we create space for the likes of Meireles, Cole & Gerrard if the earlier starts so they can work their magic and play constant quality balls down the channels of the CB's and over the top. as Utd play a high defensive line.

Cole to start wide left and Gerrard to start in behind the striker and work their :censored: off not giving the back four anytime whatsoever on the ball, this goes for Torres aswell. Utds back four are suspect and they leak goals such pressure will reap rewards.

Merieles needs to start, he looks a busy player, quality engine by the looks, good passing game and he'll get up and help the attack when we need him. Pouslen sat in front of the back four providing the shield and picking up Berbatov when he drops deep.

We can nullify the threat from the wings with hardwork, Cole will work hard if on the left and we need to make the correct choice on the right, I've heard a few campaigning for Jova on the right why no?. He works hard and is what maybe needed in front of Johnson he will cut inside and be able to play that little outside ball when bringing the wide left man in., they can also alternate between either flank.
Stop Scholes and we win IMO. Close him down at every opportunity, revert to a 4-5-1 when defending, crowd out the middle and stop him from dictating play and we have stopped Utds playmaker.

Easier said than done I know but we have the players to adopt such tactics hopefully they are implemented correctly.
