Having dominated the game I think we really lacked a killing edge tonight. Everyone played well but when it came to creating those 'Ian Rush' style knock ins we just didn't. Fair play to Brum they defended exceptionally well. Johnson was our man of and Lucas was good, Gerrard definitely not fit. It's such a shame we're grabbing draws by hook, crook etc.

It's just one boot in the bollox after another. Tonight we got 4 kicks to the tools: two goals out of absolutely nowhere; and two injuries to two important players. Can't catch a break at the minute. Battered them c*nts from start to finish. I'm baffled as to how the score sheet doesn't read 6-2 instead of 2-2.

On the bright side, Aquilani looks like he will slot in very well into the side and make up to a large degree what we have been missing since Alonso is gone.

Obviously this will take a couple of months, until Torres and Gerrard are back.

His movement off the ball was very good as he kept moving into the open spaces. A few accurate passes with the intention of moving the team into attacking positions is always nice to see !

Lady luck definitely is not with us this year though. Late winners and comebacks aside, our injury crisis is absolutely horrific. Nevermind Torres and Stevie - but to possibly lose Benny to a hamstring is a bitter kick in the nuts

Hope he recovers soon. And Riera's only just comeback from an injury, he definitely looked upset.

let's face it - we always knew that it would be difficult without Gerrard and Torres fully fit. I am actually looking forward to the early part of next year - Jan-Feb, and relishing the thought of Torres, Stevie, Aquilani and Benny (!) in full flow !

LAKES that 20 million pound player has played 15 minutes of football in a carling cup , then he got a virus , Yes i agree i would of liked to see the lad with about 15 to go , but he wasnt going to change the game in the time he would of had on the pitch with what the lads been through, It would of took him that amount of time to get into the match, We were playing ok without him thats the point

agree but we could not get the ball in the net, fresh blood tends to bring goals.

if it 2-2 and you are all over them you need that bit more to make it pay, the lad looks a good player.

saying all that Dirk Kuyt looks like he needs 2 weeks rest, not sure what was up with him tonight, just seen the 1st 45 mins

was anything said about him being off the pace, i had no sound on what i just saw.
