If we manage to snap a win it would be awesomeness on another level. I think it will be a tight match a much closer than many think.
1-1..

I just hope to fk after our first two games that we actually start playing something that resembles decent football. Good time for Benteke to have a go at their defence !!!

Liverpool team to face Arsenal... Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Gomez, Lucas, Milner, Can, Coutinho, Firmino, Benteke

Subs: Bogdan, Sakho, Moreno,Rossiter, Ings, Origi, Ibe

Mertesacker and Koscielny are both out, Chambers and Gabriel are Arsenal's two centre backs!

I can't believe Gomez is starting. I thought surely after last week when he struggled against Bournemouth, and than Moreno came on and did as much as a LB really could do in the short time he was given, that Moreno would start. Gomez is going to be our weak spot, and Arsenal already know where they'll be attacking.

I like that line-up, might have put Sakho in over Lovren, but we've yet to concede a goal so no real reason to mess with the back 4 unless someone drops a clanger.

Let's go red men!!

Agreed with Ethan about Gomez, we're giving Arsenal a target. Hope the kid can handle it.

But other than that I'm pretty happy with that team. 3 in the middle with Lucas and Can in it  :buttrock . Pleased to hear that both Koscielny and Metersacker are out as well, if we give Benteke the right service he'll have a field day with their replacements.

SKY have us lining up like this -

                           Mingolet

Clyne.           Skrtel.        Lovren.          Gomez

                      Lucas.        Can

        Firmino.        Coutinho.        Milner

                            Benteke

If we line up like that imo that's a decent looking side, I wasn't expecting to see Lucas and Can in MF so fair dues to Brendan for that. I'm really, really hoping for Lucas's sake that we put on a performance tonight, the only way the Hendo/Milner CM pairing is going to be broken up is by other players stepping up to the plate in big games and showing Brendan that there are other (and better) options out there.
This game could have massive implications for the rest of our season.

If we pull off a win then credit to Rodgers for changing it around. I'm looking forward to this

Last year we bought Lucus and Toure in from the cold against Arsenal, two guys who are not natural wirey athletes (Toure used to be but not anymore) and need a run of games to get into their stride, and it backfired as both suffered against Arsenal's quick and nimble footed players. Could happen again with Lucus and Can. But not as though we have loads of options in that area.

Can is no slouch.

Besides, I rate our forward line-up against Wenger's thrown together back four. The Arsenal forums are already praying Coutinho gets injured in the warm up

Lucky so far. We should send a thank you card to the ref for disallowing that goal.
