I just cannot understand how Hicks or Gillet have the money they do. They seem to be a couple of clowns rather than businessmen. Does Hicks really think if he does take full control of the club that in a couple of years he will be able to sell it for more than today? Surely by then Torres and Gerrard would have left and we will be mid table. You have to wonder how anyone with any sense is going to lend him the money to do it. The whole thing just baffles me. When DIC came back in to buy us off Gillet and Hicks they could have made £50m each for basically owning the club for a year. Why did they not take that deal? The only reason i can see is greed and i hope it ultimately destoys them both. They are not businessmen just greedy clowns who had something other people wanted but wanted to much money for it. Now that there is hardly any interest in us they're stuffed.

My fear is that Hicks must know that he's not going to be able to sell the club for more than is currently being offered (to pay the debt). All his other businesses are turning to sh.it so he needs some money from somewhere. Surely he can just cling on to Liverpool who pay all his expenses and probably a nice salary while he ownes it. Surely he can keep taking this money until we go pop, then let us slide into administration while he slinks off into the distance looking for another pay-day!!

Just how long will it be until we go pop if he gets this new re-financing.

Direct Action - Sunderland and Blackpool

Following the information recently released by SoS regarding BarCap and their role in the refinancing and sale of our Club (http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/LFC ... ncing.html), it is clear that at least one of the current owners has no intention of selling Liverpool Football Club. It is also clear that BarCap are not just tasked with the sale of the Club, but are also looking at ways of refinancing the existing debt. This information is contradictory to the messages put out by BarCap and Martin Broughton about their role, and it is also at odds with what we, as supporters, want.

As supporters, we have to tell the current owners and Barcap that we will not allow this to continue. In recent months, we have allowed the owners, the Board and Barcap time and space, to pursue the sale process and we have been led to believe several times that this process was underway.  The conclusions we can draw from the release of this current information is that there is no longer any intention to sell the Club.

There have been countless debates about who is to blame for the demise in standards at the Club; The owners? The manager? Everyone has an opinion and fans have been caught up in many sides to this argument, but it has now become clear that any anger should definitely be directed at the current 'custodians' of the Club, who have no interest in its history or traditions but are simply using it as a vehicle for their own best interests.  While fans may not have been inclined to protest against the owners in the past, the evidence is now overwhelming. It is now clear that all our attention and emotions should be aimed directly at the owners and those in charge of the sale (or refinancing!) process. Every Liverpool fan must surely now be aware of what is happening to, and within, our Club as a result of the current owners. Now is the time for us to unite together. Now is the time to direct our anger. We cannot, will not, and must not allow them to do what they want with OUR football Club, without us at least having our say.

On Saturday 25th September 2010 we are holding an EGM at Zeligs, Liverpool1, starting at 11:45am (Details and Agenda here). During the meeting, we will communicate more information about joining the Credit Union, which will enable fans to save towards a share for any supporter ownership investment. This is, and should always be, our long term goal - to rightfully take back the Club.

On the same day, we are also proposing direct action, to show those in power that while we have given them every opportunity to secure a sale of the Club, we no longer believe that new ownership is their aim. We now need to rid the Club of its current owners. We need to show them again how much we want them out of out Club.

We would like as many supporters as possible, to make their feelings known towards the owners during the Sunderland match, using banners, flags and songs. We are aware that other supporters groups already have plans in place for the day and we would encourage all supporters to come together, to unite as one voice. Some say they are tired of protesting, but there are now many more fans aware of the facts and figures and the poor financial state of the Club, who are now willing to stand up and make their voices heard. The current owners do not have the Club's best interests at heart and we need to make our feelings known, together.

For those who say that we should get behind the team, or that protesting in the ground damages the team's performance, we have to respect these views, but it is no longer the time to sit back and accept these as reasons for not protesting against the owners. It is a lack of investment by the Board, crippling interest repayments on a massive debt we were told we would never have, and little support or respect for the current ownership model which is causing unrest and affecting our chances of success on the pitch. This is a view shared by many, including the manager and players, who have spoken publicly of the need for new owners. We ask everyone in the ground to make their voices heard - let everyone know you will no longer tolerate the current owners.

Following the match, irrespective of the result, we intend to hold a sit in protest. Regardless of where you sit, remain in the ground and make your views heard. Gather at the front of the stand you are in, with flags and banners, and make your voices heard.

To build on the momentum of this protest and to increase pressure on the owners, we are also proposing a day of action at the match against Blackpool. We will start this day with a mass march (details to be confirmed and released nearer the time), to visibly show our anger towards the owners and those responsible for our current situation. It will also be an opportunity to show support for what we want to achieve - genuine supporter involvement in how Liverpool Football Club is run.

Following on from the march we want fans to take the atmosphere generated into the ground and make sure the whole world knows how we feel.

This is just the beginning of future action, both peaceful and direct. We have given time to those in charge and listened to more empty promises. Now we are demanding results, and action will continue for as long as the situation remains unacceptable to us as fans of Liverpool Football Club. If you have any ideas for action, please forward them to directaction@spiritofshankly.com . All proposals will be considered but it is not possible to action every suggestion.

This summer we have waited patiently for news of the sale we have been told was coming. It seems that instead of seeking new owners those apparently charged with that task have instead been looking at ways to refinance the current debt. Tom Hicks and George Gillett cannot be allowed to remain as owners of Liverpool Football Club. The time to act is now and we need you to tell them loud and clear and in no uncertain terms.

Ok the latest from bamba on rawk . This is the lad that first broke the Huang bid on rawk . So i'm not saying this is gospel .You are going to have to make your own mind up . The rocket he talks about is what he first mention a few weeks ago that Huang new about gillett and hicks . Make of it what you will  ok .





I haven’t posted on the takeover for some time, and for a variety of reasons - chief of which was a growing feeling that the information provided was actually helping Hicks and Gillett work out where the threat was coming from and concentrate their efforts on digging the dirt and launching a fightback. But today has been a woeful end to a depressing week and amid all the gloom I feel that people should know that all is not lost. Nonetheless, I won’t believe Hicks and Gillett have gone until their names no longer feature in our club profiles, so I’ll keep this as informative as possible without being specific. As ever, take it at face value or bin it. And as has always been the intention, I’ll spill the beans, fully, when it’s safe to do so.

Firstly, huge respect and support to the groups and individuals who continue to fight the good fight. There is no doubt that the campaigns work, and we should continue to keep on with the emails, petitions, adverts, T-shirts and all other forms of protest and direct action until Hicks and Gillett are gone.

But in no particular order, here are some things that are still worth knowing. The Rocket was launched. It scored a direct hit. Most of the regular posters on this forum are decent and humane people who take little pleasure in the suffering of others. Knowing that George Gillett has retreated to his mountain hideaway, shell-shocked, punch-drunk and waving the white flag will no doubt distress the many who have come to view this jovial old devil as one of our own.

Hicks and Gillett entered into a “Joint & Several” arrangement when they re-financed the time before last. That means they’re responsible for one another’s LFC obligations if one or the other defaults. As a result of the direct hit, George Gillett has been bankrupted and stands no chance of paying his share of the RBS debt by 6th October. Tom Hicks is now legally obligated to pay Gillett’s 50% of the debt. So the obvious danger arising from Gillett’s demise is that if any financial institution were insane enough to lend Tom Hicks the money, he now has the right to buy out Gillett’s 50% of the club.

That’s scary. But a more agreeable way of looking at it is to imagine Hicks and Gillett handcuffing themselves to each other on that fateful day they entered into that Joint & Several pact. Gillett has now given up; he’s jumped off the pier. A horrified Tom Hicks realises he’s still cuffed to him. He clings on by his fingertips as his former partner sinks, his dead weight dragging Hicks closer and closer to the edge. Hicks, wild-eyed, is pleading to the merchant seamen who pass by, begging them to grab his hand and haul him back from the brink. One or two of them come over for a look, but recognise Hicks as the man who killed their trade in Brazil, or Texas… it’s just not worth them getting involved with a man like this. He’ll always shaft you in the end, so they turn a deaf ear to his pleas for one last chance. If Hicks can’t get someone to throw him a lifeline, he’s going down with Gillett, and soon.

Just as Kirdi was in all likelihood a stooge created by Gillett, for the precise purpose of wheeling him out as a stalking horse whenever an offer came in for the club, it’s equally likely that the Blackstone bombshell is Hicks’s last gamble; an empty bluff from a poker player who doesn’t have a hand. But from the RBS’s and from a legal point of view, it’s still complicated. Martin Broughton, Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre are not the enemy. They are carefully and skilfully navigating a path through a minefield, keeping a keen eye on what needs to happen (Gillett and Hicks out) and the strict legalities and procedures for bringing that about. To give just one blunt example, a recent report about Hicks’ refinancing fiasco stated that Martin Broughton is “open minded” about the prospect of Hicks staying on. He can hardly state otherwise, can he? Any suggestion, let alone confirmation that Broughton was not acting in the best interests of the owners would only lead to another hiatus as Hicks stalls and sues and refuses to go. Equally, the supposed Purslow Smirk after today’s game is much more likely to be “if only I could tell you…” rather than “why should I care”. The U.K-based element of the board have gone through a lengthy and diligent legal process to ascertain what they can lawfully do to prevent Gillett and Hicks from re-financing. They’re hardly going to blow it now by playing to the crowd.

Me neither. That’s all for now. Go to bed knowing that it’s not over yet. But neither is it Over.

I know some of us have banged on about these owners for the past few years but I think it is finally sinking in with the rest now and many like myself are prepared to to see us sink into mediocrity on the field as this is not important for the long term future of our club.

The forum moderators over at the official Liverpool FC forums will face a serious headache in the morning due to a extraordinary amount of ‘boycott’ threads. It is believed that events kicked-off after the original boycott thread was deleted without explanation.

Coupled with the fact that the fans had to witness yet another loss to their biggest rivals, the forums soon filled up with what was last counted as nearly 300 new boycott topics.

Further to the ramblings of the fans, who are having a field day, E-Season tickets are also being cancelled by the hundreds as fans finally say ‘enough is enough’.

While the vast amount of topics will be of little concern to the owners, the loss of thousands in mere hours may well be a shock. For now, as has been the case for years, the message is as clear as ever… The owners are not welcome at the club.

If we call for a boycott straight away , and enough people don't do it we will fail miserably . We need to make sure everyone is on side and we can do this by the protests inside the ground . Lets see how many chant , lets see how many stay behind for the sit in . Then we will have a better idea of the numbers prepared to boycott . It's no good if only two thousand if that, boycott . It's got to be en masse .

I think a lot of people are confused by this TBH. Hicks LBO model involves selling the raped company so that overall he makes a net profit. It seems clear that if he maintains control Liverpool are going to continue their rapid decline with an associated loss of value, which can only negatively affect his profit. I'm not sure anyone is entirely clear about why he so vehmently wants to maintain control rather than sell, if it's personal hatred, it would be unusual for a man for whom money is the one and only god.
