RAFA BENITEZ LEAVES LIVERPOOL - Official Thread, includes merged threads

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Dalglish is not the long time choice - but as a temporary caretaker manager he would be ok.

Getting rid of Benitez doesn't alter the fact that we have limited funds over the summer to buy new players.

Getting rid of Benitez doesn't guarantee that we will do any better next season.

The choice of manager is not easy -and with the current nonces runnung the club it is possible that we could go further backwards if the wrong choice is made.

Although I feel we need a change of manager, Rafa is in an awkward position. If he refuses the offer, then he clearly wants the money (or this will be the argument ) but also if he accepts then he has left the club to the fans to put up with the mess.

A no win for rafa.

the top players ain't gonna do it for silly reasons imo

A player/players under no circumstances should ever dictate the fate of any manager at any football club. It's obviously went over your head.

What? That doesn't even make any sense.

Rafa has a cushy contract doesnt he? The only reason this exit deal has been offered is because the club cannot afford to outright sack him so they have offered him a deal.

Thats what I mean by a no win situation for Rafa. Whatever he decides it will be questioned.

I didn't say I want Sven, but knowing about the board, they want a short term manager until the new investment/owner comes in. Hiddink is the favourite.... the few names mentioned in the past such as Hodgson, MON say they are staying at their clubs. But this is football and anything can happen.

I'm sure that whatever I say has already been said but I'm gonna post my feelings on the matter. My loyalty towards Rafa has wavered throughout the season, I dont think anyone would begrudge me that after the torrid season we've endured. My reaction to this is pretty bleak, no matter where you stand on supporting rafa this is an absolute dire situation. We have a chairman we cant trust, question marks over a lot of over key players' futures and owners who cant be trusted to support the manager or the club.

Why would anyone want to trust the people in charge in selecting a new manager, no matter where you stand with regards to Rafa THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO LET HIM GO. This news is an indicator of something much worse at the club, not just a change in management

Bet mourinho is on the phone to Gerrard.
Get rid of rafa and his contract which states no players can be sold without his wish and there is nothing stopping them stripping the club bare, like they have everywhere else.

don't understand why you think it's gone over my head about players dictating the fate of the manager. I agree with you on the matter just tryin to understand why if true they would do the dirty
