Personally i think its a shocking decision.

Agreed, mainly because of the ramifications for the midfield area. A 4-4-2 would in any normal circumstance have seen Gerrard move back into CM. We had the opportunity to move Gerrard back into CM and later on Aquilani (or just anywhere in the middle) but we didn't and that above all else tactically - along with the failure to sign adequate backup, notably up front, along with injuries, bad luck and generally bad management (communication, motivation etc..) - caused us to finish 7th.

I would have.

Ben, come on mate, if you have a player determined to leave (forget for a moment the reasons why, thays another arguement) how the f'uck do you hang onto and get the best out of them.

If you were a pro footballer who'd decided he wanted away and the manager told you "you're going nowhere", what would your reaction be ?

At a guess I'd say you might say something to the manager that might at least make him think again  ???

There's ways of going about things mate.
You tell him that you are not interested in selling him, that he is a key player and the team that won the league that we narrowly finshed behind are losing two of their best players.
Tell him he could be one of the players that can bring the title back to anfield after a long wait.
Rafa's not like that though.

One thing i will add is that Ferguson did it with Ronaldo the previous season - told him he wasnt for sale, dont think it affected his performances that much.

Waldo wrote:The "Rafa to take over UAE job" is an extremely interesting one and I have delved into a little and used my imagination to come up with the theory that this is a ploy by a potential suitor to buy the club (Shiekh someone - let's just call him Sheikh 'n' Steven for the purposes of this story).

Steven comes from UAE and has plans to buy the club. He is aware of Rafa's £16m clause and is unwilling to simply throw away £16m to get rid of Rafa. He wants rid of Rafa though so, seen as he has a ruling power in UAE football, has come up with the idea of offering Rafa the managers job so he resigns from the club and in doing so saves the club £16m. Rafa's role within UAE football will be much more than national team manager and he will be tasked with re-organising the league/teams/infrastructure, attracting the top middle/far easters players to the league and using this as a feeding ground for LFC going forward (i.e. WE will get the pick of the best players).

  :idea

But mate if he dont rate rafa why would he give him so much power over his countrys footy?

Sorry, good try though :D

Maybe the story has come about because rafa has been speaking to people from that part of the world for other reasons?

Ronaldo is a poor example, he would sell his own family to ensure his success comes first and foremost. If you look up "lousy b@stard" in the dictionary you will get his name and the description:

Portugese tart who wears tight shorts, gets stiff easily in training sessions with men.
Bill Shankly: “I was the best manager in Britain because I was never devious or cheated anyone. I’d break my wife’s legs if I played against her, but I’d never cheat her.”

I realise as fans everyone is entitled to an opinion but most of you spent pretty much all of last season ramming it down our throat. The season is over and we are soon going to be headed into a new one with probably the same manager. Are you going to continue with this nonsense waiting to say 'I told you so' or are you going to put that aside and get behind the manager.

And Mick you say this place is devoid of football talk? Is that a :censored: joke mate? No one wants to talk football here these days because it's all anti rafa rafa rafa. It's boring mate, leave it alone now.

Mods can you just lock this topic and shut down any newley created Rafa topics until the world cup starts? I don't think anyone is gaining anything from this thread except a headache.

question to all the 'pros'. what exactly do you hope to achieve by this continuous affirmation about how rafa is the right man for the job?

and a bonus question. why exactly is it that the 'pros' always feel so hard done by?

Why should those who choose to support the manager be subjected to constant belittlement by those who do not?

For me, anyone who constantly has a pop at the gaffer or any of the players should just f*ck off. The way people on here go on about him, you'd think Rafa had broken into their houses and shat on their children's heads.

You'd think Kuyt had eaten all their Rice Crispies and raped their cat.

You'd be led to believe that Lucas had tupped their wives and shaved their eyebrows off whilst they slept.

What is the difference between a red calling our manager (who has shown nothing but loyalty and pride for us) a "fat Spanish waiter", "Manuel", "disturbed", "idiot", etc, etc, and a dirty mongrel Manc?

It's worse, because Liverpool fans are meant to be different, and that's why I treat those "fans" with as much contempt as possible.

Oh, and so you don't cry about it: To show our support for the manager of the team we all love.

THAT'S what we hope to achieve - to stand up in the face (or on the screen) of scumbags who have the loyalties of a 2-bob hooker.

Good sh!t lando.

Lando has passion (which I love), but suffers from severe tourette's syndrom. Bigmick is pretty good at analysing and writing decent football posts (which i love), despite turning into a bit of a moppy wet blanket recently.

We know where both stand on the major issues, so what's the problem? Everyone is forewarned with these two, so deal with it.

I hardly think you can call andy g a stalker.

Guys we know what both Bigmick and Lando are gonna say before they type, so why can't we just read it and not get aggravated?

Exactly.

A year after he wanted to go initially and with another united title in the bag he went to Real Madrid.

All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Like him or loath him Rafa made a right pigs ear of it last season and as he would say thats a FACT.

Buying Aqualini who was injured for 3 quarters of the season if he planned on playing Lucas for the whole season he really should have bought a striker for the 16 million we are left dreadfully short of a decent striker every time Torres gets injured.

But he was not alone in the poor season we have just had most of our players apart from Reina and Mascherano come out of it with any glory, most of them where a disgrace and couldnt be @rsed, they better have a different attitude next season if not they can ALL feck off.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Wouldnt disagree with that at all.

Its not all Rafas fault, there are alot of players that let the fans down big time last season.
