I just hope Rafa gets in a few more players for next season who can give us the edge. On the plus side I think Alonso is slowy but surley getting back to how he should be playing. Unlucky not to score today aswell.

yeah we need a few more attacking options ... a partner for torres and a wide player would be ideal . but think we need to offload a few players first to raise the funds .... figure we have to sell alonso or crouch ... lets face it no one will pay good money for kuyt on current form ... oh well ... lets live in the present and hope for the best shall we :)

A scrappy match but the result was exactly what we needed.  Great goal from Masch (what say you, GBJH? :D ) and superb movement from Torres to lose his marker and score with a perfect header--utter brilliance and he's well on pace to pass RVN's debutant record!

Skrtel is growing in stature every game and Carra was immense for us today.  I thought Aurelio had a very strong game and Arbeloa was a scrappy performer on the other side.  I thought Alonso played well, as well, actually.  He was fighting for a lot of balls and looked up for getting on the score sheet as well.

It's shaping up to be a very interesting run in.  I still think the title is a bridge too far for us but with the 3 above us trading blows there could be quite a few twists and turns before May and it'll be interesting to see where we end up when the dust all settles. :nod

Forgot to say that I thought Babel looked better today.  He certainly seemed more in the game and I  do love his ability to work space for that quick snap shot from his right foot.  That said, Rosignor (SP?) showed how RBs are going to be playing him: show him onto his left foot as much as possible and anticipate the 'knock it past and cross' move from Babel.  Still, the lad posed a threat down the flank and provided another menace in the box for us.  Good contribution.

If we beat United next week whcih is a tall order, we will only be 5 points away from United, but they willl hvae a game in hand.

As I have been saying, if were able to turn 2 or 3 out of those 11 draws this season into wins, we would be challenging.

When the season is over, we will look back at the month of January as the month that cost us the title.

We are only 8 points of the top.

Hopefully from DIC! :D  I've no problem selling the players who are truly surplus to requirements (Voronin, Leto, etc.) for whatever we can get for them but Alonso still has a key role to play in the side and I would not want him sold.  Crouch, on the other hand, I could be convinced...
