Champions League...The only trophy we look like winning in the last few years.....  :p

Seriously..if we do go on another run to the final..i won't give a sh1t about our league performance TBH.

Anyway...you can be sure rafa will make some changes.

1)I would like to see finnan come back to RB. Think Arbeloa isn't the same player he is at LB as he is at RB (funny...as he is right footed)

2)Crouch to start...Think most european teams tread to play against him

3)Benayoun to start....He has to start more matches as he can create and score goals.

My Team

                   Reina
   Finnan    Carra    Hyppia   Riise
   Benayoun   Mash  Gerrard   Auerlio
             Torres
                          Crouch

I am a bit worried about Cisse's pace against Hyypia, he will have a point to prove no doubt.

Our defence was all over the place yesterday and we are missing Agger terribly Gerrard and Masch are scared to get forward leaving Hyypia exposed.

Havent seen Marseille play so I cant say what to expect from them.

Its hard for any team to come to Anfield in a CL game I expect it to be no different on wednesday.

I think the same as you lynds about cisse's pace and that's why i think he may play arbeloa along side carra at the back , he has more pace than sammi and is pretty comfortable on the ball . The centre backs will have alot of time on the ball aswell as alot of space i think . So arbeloa would be my bet to play centre half.

                          Reina
Finnan      carra             Arbeloa      Aurelio

Pennant      Gerrard         momo      Benayoun

             Crouch            Torres.

I think momo will get a game for this one and i hope he'll play yossi and pennant so they can get at them down the flanks and get abit of service into crouch and torres. Also they are pretty flexible so they can change wings if needed. I've put Torres in but i wouldn't be suprised to see Vorinin start with crouch.

Ah yes, the return of Cisse. Should be interesting... I'm with Ciggy in that I share concern for Hyypia's pace against the frenchman, but there are a lot of fast strikers in the premiership and his ability to read the game has always saved him. Even so, this is a game where we would do well to embaress them a bit. 3-0 would be nice. Some unknown aspect has corked our flood of goals, and the sooner they start gushing again the better. If I were Rafa, my team would be...

.                              Reina
.       Finnan                                 Arbeloa
.                   Carragher    Hyypia
.      Benayoun         Sissoko            Riise
.                            Gerrard
.                  Voronin         Torres

Pennants banned Igor mate, for that silly red against Porto.
Babel will start or maybe Gerrard on the right, Masch, and Sissoko in the middle maybe?

I'm hoping Torres starts on the bench, we need to win our home games but that applies equally to the next league match and how many of the next few games is Torres likely to start?

Marseille (h)
Tottenham (h)
Everton (a)
Arsenal (h)

Which would you rest him for? I reckon he might start on the bench in two of the next four. And with everton coming up, Kuyt's scoring record away is worrying to say the least :-

Dirk Kuyt

Home - 12 goals in 29 appearances (0.414 goals/app)
Away - 4 goals in 26 appearances (0.154 goals/app)
Neutral - 1 goal in 1 appearance (1.000 goals/app)

Crouch manages a goal every four appearances away from home

Just to spice things up a bit, I found this on the bbc rumour page:

Liverpool and Arsenal are locked in a £10m battle for Marseille's French sensation Samir Nasri, hailed as the new Zidane. (News of the World).

Another new Zidane. Our cup runneth over with frickin' new Zidanes. Still, best to keep an eye on this one come wednesday.

tbh Owzat , depending on form and fitness I wouldn't rest him for any of them. What Rafa does however is another matter and I haven't a clue if he were to rest him which one he'd go for. Possibly the rough house that will be away to Everton ?

Home - 12 goals in 29 appearances (0.414 goals/app)

That isn't 'abysmal', compare that to Mikey's last season in the Premiership..........

Owen - 16 goals in 29 appearances (0.552 goals/app)

'Abysmal' would be 6 or less goals in 29 appearances, 12 in 29 isn't great, but it is only 3 or 4 goals shy of the goal every other game which is generally accepted as the sign of a top striker.

I was interested in Torres' short Liverpool record so far, on;y just got around to putting his to file (wasn't sure whether to keep with one per striker or have one file for all)

Fernando Torres

Home - 3 goals in 3 appearances (1.000 goals/app)
Away - 3 goals in 7 appearances (0.429 goals/app)

I think it says a lot for our season that he and Liverpool have played a relatively high proportion of away games already. I think the only game he's not played was Toulouse at home (unused sub)

Changing my team......Ciggy's right about Cisse.... We need more steel in midfield to contain him...

My Team

                  Reina
  Finnan    Carra    Hyppia   Riise
  Gerrard   Mash  Sissoko   Benayoun
            Voronin
                         Crouch

Yeah....i am dropping torres..... Think that might spur him to score a hatrick against Spurs.
