Liverpool to win 2-1 btw .   :D

Maybe I am wrong but if Liverpool win 2-1 then wont that mean that Benfica will qualify (Which I really hope not) as the aggregate score will be 2-2 with Benfica having the away goal............or do you mean 2-1 aggregate score?

Oh I liked the bit about the Wenger bj..........quality and sooooooo true hahha

Not enough respect for the European champions on this thread....You Benfica fans are doing a disservice to your own team as your winding up the Anfield crowd even more than normal. If you think Anfield is comparable to Old Trafford than you are more ignorant than i thought.......Welcome to Hell....cos thats what Anfield will be like for your team of effiminate nancy boys.   :D

14 million fan??? possible if u  include chickens, cats, horse, dog, butterfly, snake, eagle(hehe....eagle), goat, worm, cow, fish, elephant, giraffe, moanrinho, monkey, orang utan, chimpanzee as your club fan. If so, 14 million is nothing compared to animal in this world. Maybe they support other club..maybe.

So if you really do have  a gazillion fans how come you're budget is so small? Poor management? Corrupt management? Cheap skate fans? Or far fewer fans than you've suggested?

A combination of all four probably.

Oh, I just realised... there's another factor - you haven't bloody won anything worth a pinch of salt since 1962!

Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for you as one of the most , if not the most significant teams in Portugal, but you need to show a bit more respect to a big team in a European and World context!

When you're in the CL on a regular basis then you have the right to argue you're a better team than us ( but you still wouldn't win  :D ). So until then, remember your place, show some respect and you might be more welcome on these forums.

I'm not self assured. maybe someone can help me (like my phsychiatrist ! ) .....

I'm just not confident for the Anfield leg. we are a goal down to the team that put Man Utd out of the competition. And we have this silly f*cking problem of our strikers being allergic to scoring!

Ok Crouch scored Versus Man Utd, but he needed a glancing header a kiss off the post, and a breeze of wind to blow it over the line.

At Benifca 1st leg, we played well in spats, but didnt look like scoring. Neither did they much, but considering we can't put the ball in the net it looks bad , especially if they score first!

I dont want to predict, but, my honest opinion is..if Benfica score first at Anfield, then it's good night vienna.!
Cause we'd have to score three, and when you have strikers who cannot score, it's a problem.
When was the last time we beat a team .....3-0 ,4-0 or more?
ok we scored 5 V Luton, but conceeded three.

Also Sissoko out for a long time is not good, he's solid.

Honestly, if we get knocked out, esp if we don't score at home, then blame Moro and Cisse, and then blame Rafa for sticking with them! and not keeping mellor and pongy!

People last season harped on about the fact about how our premiership form did not resemble our champions league form.
But how long before that catches up with us?

I'd be a lot mor confiedent if were banging them in, but again Kewell is the match winner on Sunday. That is a worrying sign for me.

woof woof : lol

darwisigila : *sigh* don't know what's so amazing on us having 14 million fans, but i'll leave it there, i'm tired of that discussion to be honest...

greenred : first -we are aware of Anfield's atmosphere, i'm sure it will be amazing regardless of what 4 or 5 benfica fans say in a forum...
second - apart from the obvious portuguese prima donna divers stereotype , i don't really see reasons for calling our players effiminate nancy boys. not wanting to spark a discussion around this, luis garcia, for example, isn't exactly a role model in that department.

TheOracle : You got it right , corrupt managment. We had a president who sucked all our money, he's in jail now. by the way in the 80's we were in 3 european finals so i don't think we've been out of the european elite for that long (you suggested 1962)

Benfica has more European finals than Liverpool and if you think they were 50 years ago you're wrong, some of them were after your wins in the 70's and 80's, in 1988 against PSV Eindhoven and 1990 against AC Milan.

We even lost one (1988) in penalties. :S

Well actually, all English teams were barred from Europe from 1985 to 1990 so competition was a bit limited those years you got to the finals wasn't it?

Some undeniable facts:

SL BenficaLisbon, Portugal
Team facts: Benfica

• SL Benfica are competing in the UEFA Champions League for the third time having missed out on the group stage in each of the past two seasons following elimination in qualifying.

• Although five of Benfica's seven finals in the European Champion Clubs' Cup came during the 1960s with two victories, the Portuguese club added two further appearances in the late 1980s albeit in defeat. Their last appearance came in the 1989/90 season when AC Milan prevailed 1-0, while two years previously, PSV Eindhoven defeated the Lisbon-based outfit on penalties after the match had remained scoreless after extra time. The opening penalty scored by PSV that night came from the foot of Ronald Koeman, now coach of Benfica.

• Last season, Benfica won the Portuguese SuperLiga by three points from FC Porto and earned automatic qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

• Benfica recently broke through the 300-goal barrier in European Champion Clubs' Cup matches. Currently they have scored on 307 occasions in 163 matches with 80 wins, 37 draws and 46 defeats with 171 goals conceded.

• Overall, the Portuguese side have played 274 matches in UEFA club competition with 132 wins, 67 draws, 75 defeats, 477 goals scored and 292 conceded.

Not bad, not bad... But I'll think you'll find this is more impressive....

Liverpool, England
Team facts: Liverpool

• Liverpool FC are involved in the UEFA Champions League group stage for both their fourth time ever and the fourth time in the past five seasons, ending their 2004/05 campaign with victory in the final against AC Milan in a penalty shoot-out after the sides were locked together in a 3-3 stalemate after extra time.

• Their victory in last season's European Champion Clubs' Cup final was their first in 20 years following their 1-0 defeat by Juventus in the 1984/85 final, the scene of the Heysel stadium disaster.

• In total, Liverpool featured in five European Champion Clubs' Cup finals in eight years from 1976/77 to 1984/85, winning on four occasions, the exception coming in that defeat by Juventus. The English club defeated VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach (1976/77), Club Brugge KV (1977/78), Real Madrid CF (1980/81) and AS Roma (1983/84).

• As well as their 12 UEFA Champions League matches to date, including qualifying, Liverpool have also played one more UEFA club competition match this season, lifting the UEFA Super Cup after a dramatic victory over UEFA Cup holders PFC CSKA Moskva in Monaco. Liverpool trailed to Daniel Carvalho's strike until eight minutes from time when substitute Djibril Cissé equalised. The French international forward scored again 13 minutes into extra time before setting up Luis García for a third a minute from time.

• The English club have played 39 matches to date in the UEFA Champions League with 17 wins, 16 draws and six defeats scoring 50 goals and conceding 29.

•To date, the English side have played 126 games with 73 wins, 29 draws, 24 losses, 234 goals scored and 98 conceded.

• Liverpool have played 237 matches in UEFA club competition action to date. In that time, the English side have won 133, drawn 54 and lost 50 with 218 goals scored and 156 conceded.

So LFC have a 56% win record, 23% drawn and 21% lost vs. Benfica's record of 48% wins, 24% drawn and 28% lost....

But the clincher... nevermind how many times you played in it, how many times have you won it?
