If our team played well in old trafford, with no fear of atmosphere, why should us have fear in anfield, with less 20000 hostil fans there?

You actually believe Old Trafford is like Anfield?

They sit there, eating sandwiches, and politely applauding when a chance/goals comes in.

If your lot think it will be similar to that game, you got another thing coming..

it's got nothing to do with benfica. frelimo was the independentist organization responsible for freeing mozambique. they didn't free themselves incidentally... we just gave up on our colonies after the revolution cuz we couldn't support them anymore. it's a bit like saying IRA to you, i don't see what's the point.

why we're discussing it i don't know, i just answered to a wind up atempt.

back to topic, i'd like to know if sissoko can recover his eyesight entirely and if he blames that donkey Beto for what happened.

Kasual , forget google .You were never obviously in Mozambique .I spent several months there in the '70's and Frelimo were nownere near being "a bit like the IRA " . They were far closer to being "a bit like the Viet Cong"  the were primarily trained and armed by communist china. From Nampula to the Tanzanian border Mozambique was a country under siege . Machine gun posts at all railway stations and on the roads civilian traffic was forced to travel in armed convoys . True ,in the end Portugal handed the country back to the indigenous people after events back in Portugal but it was handed back with a huge sigh of relief .

I only said "Frelimo ! " to you as some of you Benfica fans were proclaiming that you had big support in some of your overseas provinces .Certainly in my experience (particularly in you african colonies ) nothing could be further from the truth most of the population couldn't wait to see the back of you .

Back to the topic .

ps many thanks to Glorioso for the picture of his mother and her Donkey .   :D   :D   :D

I haven't read this whole thread, just the last couple of pages. I have to say, this is one of the most bizarre and amusing converations I have come across here. Cuisine, colonies, etc. This is certainly the most in-depth opposing fans interaction between eachother many will come across for a while...  :D

p.s. I can't see the donkey pic, woof woof. Angelfire is a terrible host.

That could be strange, but we have 14M  fans worldwide. What matters the english opinions? Will u have 17M?! Do u have the list too? 16M in China? Even Chelsea is supported in China.. They're glory hunters. If u search about the issue, you'll find that our best player ever is from Mozambique and people there love him and his club, Benfica.

That's your opinion.. it's important? No, it's not impartial, so.. i can say that's too easy to support the european champ saying that it's the best team and bla bla bla, but to say that we will pass Liverpool it's necessary LOVE for the team, because we know that you have better players and a huge budget!

I'm not self assured. maybe someone can help me (like my phsychiatrist ! ) .....

I'm just not confident for the Anfield leg. we are a goal down to the team that put Man Utd out of the competition. And we have this silly f*cking problem of our strikers being allergic to scoring!

Ok Crouch scored Versus Man Utd, but he needed a glancing header a kiss off the post, and a breeze of wind to blow it over the line.

At Benifca 1st leg, we played well in spats, but didnt look like scoring. Neither did they much, but considering we can't put the ball in the net it looks bad , especially if they score first!

I dont want to predict, but, my honest opinion is..if Benfica score first at Anfield, then it's good night vienna.!
Cause we'd have to score three, and when you have strikers who cannot score, it's a problem.
When was the last time we beat a team .....3-0 ,4-0 or more?
ok we scored 5 V Luton, but conceeded three.

Also Sissoko out for a long time is not good, he's solid.

Honestly, if we get knocked out, esp if we don't score at home, then blame Moro and Cisse, and then blame Rafa for sticking with them! and not keeping mellor and pongy!

People last season harped on about the fact about how our premiership form did not resemble our champions league form.
But how long before that catches up with us?

I'd be a lot mor confiedent if were banging them in, but again Kewell is the match winner on Sunday. That is a worrying sign for me.

In anfield, Miccoli and Geovanni will probably play. In the 1st leg they were injuried. A good new for SLB.

100% off topic- in english you say 1st/2nd leg, in portuguese we say 1ª/2ª mão (1st/2nd hand).

I can tell you that we have many fans that feel very passionate about liverpool who would support them if they got relegated to the conference and beyond. Im sure this is also the case for benfica, anyone that supports us because of our champions league success is not a real fan. Number of fans arent important, Its quality not quantity and are fans have a lot of quality which you will find out in the second leg.

We have better players, yes however are budget is far from huge, believe me.

You can have a "normal" budget if we compare it with real madrid, barça or chelsea's budgets, but if you compare it with ours, you will see a big difference!
