We need either better players on higher wages, or a better manager. I wonder which is cheaper.

Despite recent performances I honestly believe that we have the makings of a very good team (Coutinho, Can, Sakho, Ibe, Markovic, Sturridge, Sterling, Ilorri etc) but it's obvious that those players need some sort of on-field catalyst to give them direction. Imo that catalyst needs to be one, if not two quality midfield players (Kovacic/Pjanic etc).
One of the oldest adages in footy is that games are won and lost in midfield and it's true, our midfield is just not good enough and hasn't been for a good while now.
If we start next season with a CM pairing of Henderson and Milner then we are fvcked, they aren't bad players but they aren't quality players either, they are yeomen not the artisans we need.
United are being heavily linked in the press with Bale, Hummels and Kane, we are not going to close the already considerable gap between us and them by answering those purchases with the likes of Milner and Ings.
Infact if United get Bale that will be it, they will join Chelsea and City among the 'uncatchables', whatever you think of Bale he is a very effective player especially in a league like the prem where pace and athleticism carry a lot of weight. Backed up by the likes of Rooney and DiMaria he will go through the lesser lights in the division like a dose of salts.
We really, really need to aim high, fv.ck going for Milner and Ings, why waste more money on players that will add little or nothing to the team? How much more squad fodder do we need to buy before the penny finally drops?
One thing is for certain and that is we will know how next season will pan out the moment the window closes.

Well you are right...we are not going to catch the likes of Chelsea, City and Man U for a very long time...heck the likes of Arsenal are pulling out a big gap between us and we are fighting for crumbs with the likes of Spurs. As with most things in life, you're just not going to push ahead and become successful if you are not preparing to put it all on the line. I'm not talking crazy gamble here but be smart, savvy and play the high stake game. Our commercial team, the executive and importantly the manager are a bunch of "yes-man" with very little business acumen, if I may say so. We suck in negotiation and always look to save a few dollars here and there resulting in us losing our target, then be pressured and ended up with a half-arsed substitute. Brendan have no cloud nor any winning track record to even attract top players from wanting to play for us, heck he will do well if he can just persuade our own players staying.  As someone who travel quite a bit, I can tell for a fact that the Liverpool Football Club brand name are easily Top 3 or 4 in most markets, and that is with very little being done to grow them for quite awhile, unlike the Man U (and now Chelsea) brand name where some very pro-actively promotion and marketing are being done regularly. If left unchecked, we will lose out on these source of commercial revenue sooner rather than later.

Our stadium are being expanded and if we stay behind for just a few more season out of the lucrative CL spot, the damage could be irreparable unless we get a sugar daddy bankrolling us and push us wrap speed up the chart. Not exactly a bad thing but to some, it's a taboo just to speak about this.

Bottom line is...the owners need to realise their faux pas in appointing Brendan to take charge of the club and need to make the next appointment count, big time. Someone like Van Gal might seems expensive but I'm sure the board at Old Trafford are all smiling now. FSG might not be money bag but they  do sign cheques regularly.  They need to trust and let the manager buy his players whatever it cost. No more value purchase because it rarely works. The committee is a proven failure for the obvious reason...but do they have the balls to make the tough decision?  ???

After a lot of thought, I think it's time FSG sold up am sure they would leave making a profit. I believe we should go back to the plans of share LFC where the fans buy shares for the club. Barcelona do it so why can't we? There is no point selling to a big organisation that there only in it to make a profit. We need a big change and I think it's the way to go

If he were to get the sack tomorrow what club would take him ??

Would he get a big job again ?

I think not.. Newcastle / Westham is his level...

We are quite frankly a complete mess.  Them players should have gave Gerrard a final game worthy of a king. People are saying many are not worthy to wear the shirt...  IMO many are not capable of cleaning his boots.

What a sad pathetic end to a legend like that.  Those players should be ashamed.

just seen this posted on a group page.....

Ok guys , I have an update for you based on a discussion I had with a current club employee yesterday.
I can't elaborate any further as to his identity otherwise he could be identified & it could cost him his job so please don't ask me to.
The information is posted in good faith and this is what he told me:
1 FSG told Rodgers he needed to get top 4 otherwise he would be sacked, regardless of any domestic cup success.
2 The owners are definitely speaking to Klopp and Rafas people. They'll be having review with Rodgers next week after the Stoke game.
3. The owners are absolutely fuming about how this season has gone.
4. Should Rodgers survive then it will only be because Klopp or or Rafa can't agree terms of how to work with FSG.
5. It's all going on behind the scenes; the owners "are really ***** off"
6. The owners didn't want to come yesterday as they wanted it to be Stevie's day. They felt they If they turned up, all attention would've been diverted onto them.
7.They may POSSIBLY be here next week as Stevie has not played last game yet for LFC .
In the last 10 minutes Jurgen Klopp has gone from 7/1 into 11/4 to be next Liverpool manager
Just passing on some info to this great group

It all makes sense to me. There'd be no point sacking him until after Stoke. The owners won't be happy and the lack of noise coming from them may be a big clue.
BRs failures this year are massive. It's been like watching a hurdler trip over every obstacle. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Some posters on here seem to have accepted us as a nursery for young managers and players. "Give him time!" Well we don't really have time. We're supposed to be one of the best, not a training scheme. Get someone who can do the job now. People on this forum seem far more knowledgable than the current manager. Hindsight may be a great thing but most of us here didn't need it.

If any bit of that is true I'll pick you up and take you out for a steak dinner (or vegetarian option if that's your thing) and I'll buy your ale all night, we'll go to the casino and then I'll let you have a go on my sister.
