Crouch got us 3 points today

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Yer when Big P came on our game changed, Villa where starting to threaten and watching the game I was screaming, and calling them for everything.
I thought the players looked very lethargic lazy in their play, Xabi wasnt so expiring and once Sissoko got booked it took the exciting tackles out of his game.
Angel made them more dangerous when he came on and Cara MOM had Milan in his back pocket.

Then Rafa's sub changed the game 15 mins from time yer our Big P Villa fans chanting there's only one Rodney Trotter........... Well our Rodders got us 3 points today, I have critised him I will hold my hands up high.

He will not set the world on fire getting us 20 goals a season, when Rafa has been starting him in games he has failed to materialise, but today made all the difference, he certainly did give us that extra option upfront, for tricky away games.

he was very very unlucky not to get that poke in, he deserved a goal ecspecially cause his confidence is low, but Rafa explained in his post match interview he wasnt bought to score goals, just to bring others into play.
And he did a bloody good job of it today.
Well done lad.

He won us the pen and made the second goal.
Pitty he didnt get his name on the score sheet, not a good performance from us but you only ever play as good as your oppotition and lets face it they are cr@p, excellent 3 points earned sh.itty bit is we are still 12th, but hey if it takes our Rodders to come off the bench to change a game, I think Im glad we bought him.
Sorry this topic was hurried but Im off to watch the Xfactor :D  will continue later.

He didn't do it on his own but he certainly played a part.

To be fair to Rafa, i think thats what Crouch was signed for. Things like today. Imo he'll come in useful in circumstances like today as he'll offer a completely different option if the games a stalemate.

In all fairness he's not good enough to start every week (hardly ever) but for roles like today, i'm happy he's here. 7million was a rip off though.

I slagged him off earlier when the game was on but with reflection i can see what people are saying.....Robbie Fowler,Micheal Owen he will never be
but i agree he changed  what was happening out there........I still think he is :censored: in the air  though which amazes me at 6ft 7

That headed chance.... fcukin ell.

I'd have buried that and i'm a midfielder. That was shockin, as were the misses from Kewell and Zenden's crosses before Alonso's goal.

Still, a positive contribution.

absolutely right - would have been better for him if he HAD scored, but his confidence will hve improved from today's game. Not least because he caused the defenders big trouble. The pen and Alonso's goal came because he was being a nuisance. For me, that was the best thing about him today. The guy's a nice bloke, and he really needs to get nasty in the box to make the best of his height - today he shoved Ridgwell, and when the ref looked across, Ridgwell was getting his own back - pen given! More of that and he can still add a lot to our squad - he will never be a top notch striker, but they cost a lot more than 7 mil, don't they? If he can go on from today then there's plenty of hope for us this season (I don't mean winning the league, but a decent placing, especially if the last pieces of the puzzle can be found in Jan). Moro did'nt do well, but that's why subs are used - today the striker on the bench came on and made the difference - could almost have been David Fairclough :D  .

I thinkt that he played really well when he came on, but I think that it was more Zenden's impact which made us look dangerous.

Who crossed the ball to Crouch when he got brought down?
Who crossed the ball when Crouch missed the free header on the 6 yard box?
Who kept the ball in play through anticipation and determination to cross it to Crouch (and through desperate defending he was denied) which in turn fell for Alonso?

Es,  I agree totally.  Bolo came with the crosses that were not available when Luis was on the left wing, and Cisse was :censored: all match.  I believe we should start every game with Nando and Cisse up front, but Djibi was not effective today and Crouch came on and made the impact needed to give us the three.  Crouch may not be effective at kickoff, but he gives us a change of pace that could twist games to the Reds.

All in all, I'm happy with the road three!  And I think Peter was unlucky not to score one.  Here's to hoping PC and Harry get one soon to get the monkey off their backs.

i agree phil, he is bad in the air, he needs to start jumping and putting some sort of power and accuracy on his headers

looks to me that when he jumps his head stays in the same spot and his knees come half way up his body, someone needs to tell the man how to jump!

Anyone here ever played football ?

Try heading a ball that's low and with no speed and turning it into a "rocket header" FFS the lad WILL come good

He uses his jumps as the main power to head for the ball, whereas he should have use his neck and back to get the power.
