must say we've gone through this season with some howling defense performances but we're still 4 points off the top spot with 11 games left and 2 of the teams above us have to come to Anfield. If the game plan is 'score more than we concede' then it's working for now! But BR has surely got to bolster the defense up in Summer??

At the start of the season would you of taken 4th place, 4 points from the top, scored most goals in the league, both our main strikers in the top 4 goal scorers chart with 11 games left to play?

I think you would.

I cant be ar'sed looking, but wasnt there some sort of poll to see where we would finish this season? Im sure most of those who took part stated that we would finish outside of the top 4? Its funny now that people are starting to think that mistakes being made could stop us from winning the league!
Its a funny old game...

Yeah I was thinking the same.

If I remember correctly in preseason the spectrum of views ranged from -

* optimists - top four finish, no one realistically thought a title challenge would happen though)
* pessimists - Europa league finish at best
* miserable gits (Benny, etc) - didn't rate the manager, didn't offer any chance of this squad doing anything.

I never expected us to be this good but I did think we could confidently push for 4th spot.

I honestly thought we would finish 6th but maybe put up a better fight than last season.
2 things have happened that have led to us doing much better:

we have been a lot better than I would have imagined.  Brilliant at times.
United and Spurs have gotten much worse than I expected.  (Well United in particular).

Football is a funny game, how many times have we said that we'd take a draw before a game but after witnessing the events of a game we are often disappointed we didn't win.
Wherever we finish now though, its been a brilliant season.

I know SAS etc will get most of the credit for our fantastic season but I'd just like to mention BR. A fine job he's done for us this season and long may it continue. Well done sir.

I really don't think FSG are stupid enough to not offer him a new contract very soon. I'm also confident Rodgers will seek guarantees about his targets being acquired.

60 votes were cast in that poll 31 of them had us in the top 4

Didn't know where else to post this (we need an SAS thread). I remember a conversation we had here about which team's duo has scored the most goals and which duo has had both of their players score 20+ goals in a season, so here it is:

With 10 games to go, SAS will probably beat the record or at least climb to 2nd place. Both will have 20+ goals scored (Sturridge needs only 2 more).

Papers saying today that Barcelona are monitoring Brendan's contract situation, they know he studied the game in Spain and Holland and like how he's translated that acquired knowledge into the hurly burly of the premier league, they like the fact he's a fluent Spanish speaker too. The article says that Barca are almost certain to be looking for a new manager this summer and apparently he's high on the list.
Time for FSG to get their @rses into gear and put a new contract on the table.
