though dossena was good in the first half on saturday but in the second half he just disappeared which is probably why he got subbed.

having said that, watching the mancs last night, when you compare the guy to somebody like evra, he's a million miles away. :(

And evra was only 5.5 mil.  Clichy 250,000.  We dont seem to find this gems on the cheap.

I'm trying to get excited about this signing but I can't. I don't remember anything of him at Man City and what I have seen of him at Espanyol says that he's not a bad player but he's not going to really add anything to what we've had/got.

He will probably be an improvement over Benayoun but it's not exactly going to be the final piece of the jigsaw signing that we've all been waiting for. On the plus side he is a winger and not another central midfielder (which Rafa seems to get a hard on over :D ) like Barry so he is kind of addressing the problem area but probably not sovling it.

I was saying similar things last summer about Torres before we signed him  :lookaround  so with a bit of look I'll be wrong again, but I just feel we're signing another Gonzalez or a left sided Pennant.

I don't think he's upto the standard we should be looking for if we are supposed to be building a great team

There mustn't be any better options available though, if there was then I would happily see this guy go to everton instead

lets hope he is more productive than albert luque who rafa was after but he went to newcastle instead.luque would have been another bad striker at anfield if we actually got him. if this guy has flicks and tricks then i welcome him happily....its one more flick and trick than we have at the moment....i hope he is not another slow player to add to rafa's collection....we need speed.

Give Riera a chance, he hasn't even arrived in Liverpool yet.  We'll soon know if it was yet another bad buy or not.

He`ll be an improvement over Benayoun no doubt....and Pennant, Leto, Zenden, Gonzales, Nunez, Benayoun.
For those who mentioned Babel in that category, he is a striker, not a winger/wide man. He's different class to those guys even playing out of position in the wide role.

ben arfa only cost marseille 9.5 mil.  Should of tried to sign him!!  Mcgeady from celtic is more exciting than reira.

He could turn out to be a taller version of Aurthur Nunez with a muzzy.

Or our C.Ronaldo.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

its about time we had a few more muzzies in the team - it'll remind us of the glory years. it should be compulsory infact, and torres should wear the full handlebar.

Ah well......the only good thing to come up with this move is that
if we happen to go 4-4-2....then this team all of a sudden looks to have balance....

Babel can hit a mean cross from the right (at least ...thats what i hope) :p . Riera also can put in a mean cross.....

So finally...after 4 fu@kin years...we should be able to stretch teams apart....

BTW....i would have preferred if we had signed Drente or Rafael van der datt . But guess Riera has to do...cos i am sick of seeing benayoun and babel on the left wing...

                      Reina
                   Defence
     Babel   Gerrard    Mash    Riera
               Keane   Torres

the problem is there isn't that many Cristiano Ronaldos out there (and lets be honest that is the sort of player we all want).  David Villa has said he doesnt want to leave Spain...  It is a case of the best we could do with the amount of money we have.

I wanted Joe Cole, but that seems to have doed an death and he would most probably be too expensive for us..
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Not world class, ok, but a good player and probably in Liverpool he'll increase the chances to be international again, he was summoned recently due to his progress this year.

Well I don't know what you saw in Man City but Albert has good cross with the left, he's not predictible because he also knows to cross with his bad foot, and when you see a youtube video, you'll see range shots with both feet. A specific player for a specific position, not world class, not what we expected, but I certainly think he'll improve the current team
