But Stevie is 33 not 23, and he is gonna start disappearing in games, as time goes by and he gets older. More prone to injury, legs wont last 90 mins etc etc.
Age slows everyone, all sports people, and he is no different.

We could do with a quality replacement soon.

Was hoping there'd be an academy player learning from SG this year. For the money spent on transfers and invested in youth, we might have hoped to see some younger players getting a look in.

What's Coady like from the reserves?

Coady I think could have a very bright future but I don't think he will be a like for like Gerrard replacement - Coady is a bit more defensive minded but has a very good engine - he will pop up with the odd goal. Hopefully he gets a chance soon

got to say that the last two games he has looked unfit...even ill?
has anything been said about his health? Last night after  25 mins he made a run and after was bending over with hands on his knees getting his breath.
in the 2nd half it looked like he was finding hard to keep up with play and I was shocked that this was not picked up on by Sky.

Stevie looks spent. We have too much vested in his performance for him to have that many days off.

He remains the most important piece in our formation ,playing poorly is a huge blow to our prospects

Don't know what to suggest with Gerrard but it's patently clear the combination of him and Lucas isn't working to great effect.

On saying that, who would you play in midfield?

Lucas has been woeful so far so him and Henderson wouldn't fill me with confidence against a championship side.

Infact, could even play him as a sweeper in a three. Although that would mean dropping Enrique as he's not a wing back.

Gerrard desperately needs some help in the centre that’s as plain as day, he isn’t the athlete that he used to be and playing next to average joes like Allen, Lucas and Henderson isn’t gonna get anything out of him. This has to be a priority in  January or its 6th place at best this season.
