For the man who captained the side in 2 CL finals, 2 Carling Cup finals, an FA Cup final and in the season were we finished on 86 points almost winning the PL... yeah he doesnt deserve a good wage...

I can understand the comment though - we don't want to be paying 33 to 35 years over 100k a week but its Gerrard - just like it was with Carra last year - they have earned those wages.

Gerrard has been on high wages for a long time now (and rightly so). I doubt he had a raise with this new contract though.

Unfortunately, I believe that this is the last contract Gerrard is signing with us. But at least we get to see him play for another 3 years before he retires

So just cause a player has been world class we should give 35 olds 100k/week. 
Gerrard isn't even close to the player he once was and at the end of his career, but please let us waste money for what he did 10 years ago...

he deserves to finish out his career here after all the years he has given us.
for me he's one of the first names on the team sheet every week based on ability and nothing to do with nostalgia. even at 33 he is still a mainstay of that team and we are struggling to replace him, all the while expecting him to single handedly win every game for us.
maybe if the others around him upped their games a bit we might see a more influential gerrard next season.
great that he has signed a new contract although im surprised it was let run down this far. mourinho would take him in a heartbeat over alonso.

What would you suggest then?  Insult him by offering a 2 year extension with a 50K pay cut?
Sell him?  We won't get a big fee at this point in his career.

He might not be at the peak of his career anymore but he is still a fantastic player and one of our best players.
