And the all conquering Barcelona wasn't build in half a season. It took decades for them to reap the rewards of their academy. Now here we are, judging the manager after half a season. Kenny spent 80 million on the squad and underperformed. It would be understandable if the criticisms directed at BR came after he was given a similar amount of money to build his team. I will say this now... if we are patient and gives the manager the support that he deserves then we will reap the benefits of BR's revolution. And this is a revolution not evolution that the club is going through at the moment.
what exactly are you basing this confidence on? i see nothing in his CV to suggest that he is some sort of footballing visionary with the ferguson-esque ability to turn around a fallen giant.
he has been a manager for a grand total of 4 years and his claim to fame is that he got swansea into the premiership via the play off`s, this brilliant `total football` swansea side of his finished behind neil warnocks QPR and paul lamberts norwich.
i wouldnt mind if he was the man who took swansea through the divisions and instilled this style of play throughout the club but he wasnt, roberto martinez did that, dont forget swansea were getting plaudits for their style of play years before rodgers got there.
the season before he arrived they finished 7th so it`s not like he massively improved them, they were there or thereabouts anyway and had been knocking on the door for promotion for a few years.
in his other 2 jobs he was very average, he was sacked from reading because results were so poor and at watford he managed to get them to halfway after spending most of the season in the bottom 3. this isnt ancient history either this all happened in the last 4 years.
he hasnt exactly enhanced his reputation here.
i`d just like to know why people are so confident that he is the man to turn around one of the biggest clubs in the world? he hasnt even won a johnsons paint trophy never mind the prem title or the CL.
you may think he`s going to build a new barcelona by bringing in his mates like allen and borini but i dont, maybe if he starts bringing in a load of spanish players then i will buy into his vision myself but while we are being linked with english players like sturridge and ince i`m afraid i`m going to remain sceptical about seeing a catalonian style revolution appearing on the banks of the mersey anytime soon.
