Not saying that he is or isnt! Just stating it would be typical for chelski to rob the player they know we are interested in buying!

No I'm just saying that people who were saying Kuyt was crap may have suddenly changed their opinion because Chelski are now interested. i.e. chelsea are interested in him, so he must be good.

It is typical of Chelski though isn't it. They buy players to prevent other teams buying them.

Why does everyone think we need a striker? World class teams have height, pace and a real natural goalscore. We have all 3 in a bundance as well as players who can come in for our 3 reconizable strikers and do just as good a job.

Height--Peter Crouch. There isn't many who are bigger then Peter and his 6 foot 7 fram causes defences all sorts of trouble for defenders. So it doesn't look as we need Kuyt who I hear is a target man as well. Peter Crouch has the ability to the score so I would prefer people to stop getting on his back

Speed--Craig Bellamy. The newest striker to the Rafalution has pace in a bundance. He also has a fiery temper and the mentallity of winning at all costs, this alone would good enough but the fact that he can score just makes him a top class Premiership striker.

Ability to finish--Robbie Fowler. There isn't another player in the world who scores as naturally as Robbie. His goals towards the end of last season was a great help towards our push for 2nd and if we had Robbie throughout the whole of last season, I think we would of got 2nd at the very least and pushed Chelsea alot closer. Crouch and Bellamy can also score and take a little pressure of Robbie. Goals from midfielders and a few from the back will also help in our bid to bring the Premiership to Anfield.

Should we lose one these three strikers we have youth cup hero Craig Linfield, who showed his ability to score in our youth cup winning side and he got a goal against Crewe in pre-season for the first team. So if it is necessary we can put him in. Lets not forget Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler (2 of our greatest strikers) came through our youth team so why not put him in. If he isn't ready we have Florent Sinama-Pongolle. When played Flo has looked as if he has a bright future at Liverpool, but is much more a provider than clinical finisher. Should we get to the stage we did a couple of years ago when we didn't have a reconized striker, we can put Garcia or Kewell up front (although I'd rather we didn't because I don't want to see either in a Liverpool shirt again.) We can play Stevie G up front like we did a few last year.

Overall I don't see why a striker should be our main transfer target. We have quality in all forms up front as well as good back up options. But that is the case for all areas of the pitch now not just up front. So if we are to sign anymore signings before the season it will have to be a real big star to dislodge any of our starting 11 or just more squad players or even buying for the future.

I think we need another striker because Fowler in my eyes is that bit older and Crouch in my eyes is just a poor player. Bellamy is our best striker, but we need another striker, and I suppose I would settle for Kuyt right now. Although I think Anelka would have been good.

I seriously doubt that there's much substance to the Chelsea link.  But, if they really do want him so bad let them try and buy him.  Then we'll see what his ambitions are.  Surely he doesn't want to come to England just to sit on a bench as 4th-choice striker?  If he does, he's not the type of player we want anyway.

If I were Rafa, I would stick with my game-plan of negotiating Feyenoord down to a reasonable price.  There's no way in hell I'd let the threat of Chelsea signing Kuyt first lead me to up the bid or otherwise aim to accelerate the process.  There are always other options...including waiting until January.

Kuyt didn't impress me a great deal in the World Cup, so I'm going to throw a name into the hat and see what people think. Real Madrid's out of favourite striker Ronaldo. He doesn't want to play there anymore becuase hes "not loved" his words not mine. He is a proven striker in Spain and internationally. Also with Rafa as our manager that may convince him. I know the facts about Kuyt's scoring record in Holland but I would rather get a real world-class star or a proven striker in the Prem. Another name I would like to see on our team sheet is West Ham's Dean Ashton. He done well for Norwich when they were up, he was one of West Ham's best players last year and in the FA Cup Final against us he was there best player before getting taken off.

The only problem with that BadBob is we may be out of the title race by January so a top class striker isn't going to come to a side out of the title race. So either our strikers are good enough now or we need a 4th striker. I personally feel we have the quality in our current strikers and wouldn't waste the money we have on a hope. I think Ashton or Defoe, proven Premiership strikers, would be a better choice. But still I don't think we need a striker just yet.
