JAMIE CARRAGHER - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If Kjaer or another CB comes in as first choice this summer then Carra may well find his opportunities limited.  He's in a good run of form at the moment, but over the past few years his performances just haven't been good enough to warrant him playing week in, week out.

Everyone likes him, me included, but he'll be 33 next summer and he says he won't stay here to be a bit part player.  It's only going to end one way...

has he said that Nanny.
due to his age there is going to come a time soon when he not going to be able to do that anyway and i think he understands that, i think there might be more to this, only last year he said that one day he would love to be the manager of the club and now he seems ready to turn his back on it? talk about a change of mind.

I reckon it's going to be like sammi for carra now , less oppotunities and more as cover and playing in the cup games . If carra is happy with that then he'll stay , but if like Sammi he wants more first team football he'll move on . That's proffesional football for you , and Carra know's how it works . He can't start spitting his dummy out now because age is catching up with him .

It's not a change of mind.  He said in his book, which was written a while back now, that he wouldn't stay here to be a bit part player.  That doesn't mean he wouldn't come back to the club in a non-playing capacity in the future.

That's true, and he won't be the first, nor the last player that have abandoned Liverpool because he couldn't play as much as he'd like.

Aldridge, Luis Garcia, Riise, or Crouch left the club for similar reasons.

Some of them do it quietly, and with a letter of good bye, and some of them moan a bit more like Carra seems to be doing.

But that's part of football.

To be honest and I think even Jamie would admit it too, His best days are behind him now and his pace has never been the best and he has lost his pace even more so this season. Although if i was him I would be willing to sign at least a 1 year extension, even if it meant sitting on the bench as a bit part player because he is close to becoming the 2nd most appeared player for the club.

If he did leave I couldn't see him leaving the northwest with possible moves to Bolton,Blackburn or even Everton

He'll go abroad if he does leave.

Don't take mine, take Carragher's.  That's what he's said on more than one occasion.  Said he wouldn't want to slog it out in the PL in mid/lower table.  Ok 'man'.

I'm pretty sure he specified either La Liga or Serie A if he leaves. Will be a shame to see him leave, hopefully we see him back in a coaching role sooner or later.
