Precisely. He does ok at RB, but it's ridiculous to expect him to bomb forward like Johnson all the time. I thought Darby has done well enough in the few games and appearances he's made that he might get a game, especially against Wolves who are at best mid-table Premiership quality. But Rafa is too defensive set, preferring two DMs and a much more defensive defender at RB than trying to go and win against a team as ordinary/poor as Wolves

He is a steady player in that position but nowhere near what you would call a wing back.
As a footballer, first touch passing, decision making in the final third etc he is nowhere near good enough.
If he played there he would be steady but not offer anywhere near enough going forwards.
Could you see him overlapping our right midfielder ?

Like he did on wednesday?

9 times out of 10 when the ball is at carra's feet he panicks and hoofs it, he is poor in posession, one of worst players in that respect.
To suggest he would make a good wing back to me is ridiculous.
I suppose it depends on what you want from your wingbacks though.
I would want mine to help link defence and attack.
To provide a threat going forwards and to score the odd goal here and there and create quite a few.
He wouldnt do that.

Are you saying he couldnt play like he played last wednesday ever again?
Really??
???

see tonight

steady but unspectacular

And play who? Not been his best season, but he's still been relatively solid. His ball hoofing antics have to stop, though.

He's a great CB no doubt about that, but I'd expect a little more from him at RB considering thats where he used to play before Rafa joined the club.

Hoofing or defending?

Like I say, Benitez was spot on against Spurs. Against Wolves he f*cked the midfield up.

You mentioned his hoofball tactics and I said he didnt seem to do it much against spurs. I was wondering why?

solid player who's given everything in his liverpool career.
his engine is wearing a bit but nonetheless he's still valuable to us even if he's not having the best of season!!
he,s imo already a legend and hope he stays with us for many many years to come:) .
for the moment though he needs to stop the hoofing as its catching on with the rest of em!!

He'd movement in front of him. Whenever he looked up, he'd someone to hit. Degen took up an advanced position, and Aquilani was making space, whereas Gerrard against Wolves looked as if he couldn't be bolloxed again, or he was injured, that old chestnut.

Which would suggest that Rafa should have stuck with the team, formation and tactics which won at spurs?

Russian doll! Russian doll!

Assuming Johnson isn't back yet, nothing on BBC to suggest otherwise, I guess we'll again have Carra at RB and not Darby and I suspect we will win but in spite of Rafa's tactics and selections not because of them.

Carragher is one of the best CB's in the league and yes age is probably catching up with him, but he isn't a RB and he should be played in his best position with one of the younger lads, Darby or even Degen playing at RB until Johnson is fit again.
