WOLVES VS LIVERPOOL - 26th jan 19:45ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Cool Hand Luke » Tue Jan 26, 2010 10:56 pm

Forget about the owners, forget about the debt, forget about the injuries…….the bottom line is that Rafa has been a resounding failure as a football coach this season. If we go back and look at each team sheet and compare it to the opposition we have under performed. Results have been below par and the performances have been consistently disgraceful.

As a manager Rafa has always been questionable as he is very poor at certain aspects but he has always succeeded from the coaching perspective but this season he has failed miserably and no amount of flag waving and “one of us” talk can hide that.

I know it wasn't a loss but that was the worst and most frustrating performance of the season for me. People pretended we played against Spurs the other night but in truth we were poor then as well. I kept my gob shut because everyone was so happy. That Houllieresque tonight, it's been that way all season :(

i dont like to dwell too much on past glories and all that but when we used to hit flat spots in the team performance what did our past managers do? what did Paisley or Dalglish change when we got a bit dull?   serious question if someone can answer it.

I think you might be right there LJ.  I think he'll be off to Juve very soon.

We've actually got steadily worse. At least at the start of the season we were scoring goals. We dominated possession in a lot of matches and we still had some belief.

We're going backwards here at a rapid rate.

On the strength of this season, i sincerely hope you are right, even without money or players, he could have at LEAST tried to change it up today....again more and more shocking and completely ridiculous decisions.....

We were never going to string a run of 10 wins together with this team, we're not good enough, simply don't have good enough players.

When you realise you're not as good as you thought you were you have to go back to basics, which is what we have done.  Start defending properly.  Show fight and be hard to beat.  We've done that and kept 3 clean sheets in our last 4 outings without losing.

Benitez has done the right thing in the way he's set the team up the last few games.  A run without losing will hopefully give us a platform to build on for a late push for 4th.

It's still a disgrace though the level we're playing at and the squad we have after he's had 5 and a half years and fu.ck knows how many million quid to sort us out imo.

TBH mate I agree that the dressing room seems to have gone but I'd never accuse Rafa of losing feeling for the club, not the true club. Underneath all the shite that is currently going on is still the greatest club on this planet and Rafa still holds it close to his heart, but I'm afraid he's gone as far as he can with us.

Agreed. I wonder if this is due to Pako Aysteran's departure?

why hasn't sammy lee gripped rafa by the throat and told him he's killing the team? why hasn't dalglish stepped in and offered some advice?
