If Rafa rates him at £12m, why doesn't he start him more!??! If he's worth £12m how come AURELIO a LB is playing on the left ahead of him!?!?!? How come, at 1-1 against lowly Championship side READING he is an unused sub?!?!? Words not backed up by actions, one of Rafa's many 'fine qualities'. Could of course be a bluff to raise the stakes, but surely if you have a player so under-used as Babel you accept sizeable bids rather than risk the suitors looking elsewhere? £9m in the bank is better than £12m as a price-tag never to be matched. It's like the dubious logic of wanting to accept say £14m than £10.6m because it is the higher bid when it also comes down to whether the player wants to move to the club offering £14m. You can only accept bids on the table, and only then if the player wants to move to that bidding club. We might want to take highest bids, but we can't force the player to do likewise.
EDIT : so even if we accepted a £9m bid from brum, would Babel want to go there? Would the wages be an issue? Perhaps the wages they'd have to offer make a £12m bid unlikely
