I have defended him a lot over the last year. I think we have improved since he took over but we need something more to push on now. Now that obviously includes better players and we don't know what is going to happen on that front come the summer but there have been times where Rafa has not made it easier on himself with his selection and tactical choices. I think if we do not win at least 2 of the next 3 games he should step down.

so as it stands right now we are 8 points off of 4th................that is going to be very hard to make up.....apart from this year, there has been so many strange results that if we get the team working then 4th spot is still there for the taking, but i think we need a new manager to do that.

Spending 20 million on a player who hasnt started a game for us and wasnt even on the bench today. Rafa needs to go and he needs to go today. Lost all faith in rafa and i do not have an ounce of confidence in the team at the moment

IF he stays then we can all kiss goodbye to a top four finish....more like a mid table finish?

Stay or go, we won't finish in the top four anyway unless those shower of shyte grow a spin and start trying to win games. Getting rid of Benitez won't garauntee f*ck all. A plan of action needs to be put in place from the owners, but they're clueless c*nts anyway.

What plan of action do you anticipate americans, with absolutely no knowledge of football, to come up with ?

They bought into this notion that there were 4 top clubs in the premier league and that there was no competition. Therefore they were getting a market leading "brand" which couldnt fail.. As long as Liverpool remained a top 4 team, then they were laughing all the way to the bank.

What the stupid moronic idiots didnt bank on was other clubs being taken over by big spending owners, and a credit crisis that would scupper any hopes of re-financing to alleviate the astronomical levels of debt.

Over at OT, we've known what was coming since before the gormless gnome took over. Anyone with half an ounce of knowledge of football knows that football is cyclical and no team can sustain top four finishes indefinitely.

Glazer boiught United believing they would sustain their position at the top. With a top manager, great players and muppets who'll just keep paying to see them, no matter what the cost, then he was onto a dead cert winner.

Sadly he didnt bank on other clubs getting new owners, didnt bank on Ronaldo deciding the grass was greener in Madrid, and most of of he didnt bank on Unted fans suddenly clocking onto what he was up to, and stopping paying..

Dont believe the hype that OT is full every week. Unless our fans are now taking up going to matches dressed up as a red empty seats, then the attendance figures they give you are about as believable as the story that they are succesfully managing the debt.

United are not managing the debt. The lack of spending on QUALITY players, is becoming more apparant by the day. All these big purchases we have made are all on credit. And because clubs know we cant afford to pay cash for players, they are driving up the price. The DFS deal of football. Buy now, pay later...

Going back to your point, about the americans coming up with a plan. The plan is simple... .Cut costs, whack up ticket prices, rely on fans to just keep on paying, and hope like hell that the team finishes in the top 4.

That is there plan. That was always there plan. Just the same as its the plan that the Glazers have....

If you are asking them for a plan which makes the team better, you may as well ask me to give you a lift up to the moon on my bike. Thats more realistic and far more achievable.

Good post, mate. Been saying this for years now, unfortunately not many on here listened when I said Benitez' job would be "safe" for at least another 3 years. That was two years ago and I got tore into on here for saying it, but I was right. The reason why Rafa and Wenger likewise haven't been sacked is because their net spend is relatively low and they are good at balancing the books. This season, despite having supposedly spent on two big players, Rafa's net was zero for the first time since singing his new contract? Coincidence? Abramovich started it all off when he came in and started throwing money about and f*cking up the transfer market. City look set to continue on with that tradition, and unless something is done to stop it, then we could soon see something like what's been going on in the SPL for decades, only it won't be football that does the talking, but those who have the richest owners. Footballing traditions are starting to become a thing of the past. It's taking our fan base a bit of time to come to terms with that.

I doubt Rafa will go anywhere. Remember Purslow being interviewed after the CL exit. His was not a face that seemed to lie about Rafa's future, irrespective of what happened over the course of this (now even poxier !) season. So I would think we're stuck with him.
I think Hughes' sacking was always on the cards. I don't think Rafa's is 'cos we don't have the funds those drunken arabs have to throw around. Then again. a recent injection of funds (124M was it, that one half of Waldorf and Statler recently got) could just pay him off...

If its a few weeks then in my opinion it will be too late.

I cant see anyone joining us in january with rafa as manager. Who is going to join us in our current position. Carlton cole has been rumoured to join us in jan but why would he when he gets regular games at west ham and in Worldcup year thats what he needs. In my opinion for the rest of the season the morale will be low IF we win game they will be scrappy and lucky and the other top teams will :censored: all over us its sad times at liverpool If shankly could see the club in its current state he would be sick to his stomach

What exactly is your point ? Why the hell not ?

my point is you can see how much he cares about the club and you have had people in the media waiting to jump on him for ages not to mention the managers that have ganged up on him and by the way I'm not defending his decisions this season but some fans have a short memory (4 months to be exact) all this in a season that Man utd have now been beat 5 times and clubs like Aston Villa, Spurs and Man city have had the money to close the gap.

Is that possibly because the players are now bigger than the manager and the clubs they represent.

When players are costing clubs £20-£30 million and managers can be picked up for nothing, barring maybe an odd couple of million in compensation, then who do the clubs value more ?

Its all too easy for clubs to make managers the scapegoat, because if the team fails theres only one person getting the chop.. THe players get paid no matter what.

Yes you can argue that the managers pick the team, and should be motivating players. But what motivation is needed when you get £100k a week. That is motivation enough to wham on a shirt, make it look like you are remotely interested, and then pick up the cheque at the end of the week.

Imagine if your boss said to you
"hey you still get paid no matter how bad you perform, and if you dont do your job, dont worry, I'll carry the can for you and they can sack me"

Would you really put in the effort just to save your bosses job, when you are going to get the same money no matter what.

He cant justify spending 20 million on a player that he doesnt put on the bench
