I think you're talking about that dreadful miss against west brom which was truly dreadful.

I agree with you about his finishing though which is why he should be played through the centre more. If you look at some of his finishing against the likes of derby, newcastle, marseille, besiktas etc ther guy does have some finishing ability when inside the penalty area. The problem when played out wide is he ends up shooting from range more often than not and it's a lottery as to where it's gonna go half the time.

I suppose a lot depends on whether we sign another left sided player or not. Riera is far too inconsistent to be a regular starter, especially against teams who come to Anfiled and park the bus. You would have thought Babel would be ideal for those sort of games.

I won't beat around the bush, Babel isn't good enough, especially for £11.5, people can't even use the "he's still a young lad" line cos he's 22 now!!!

I know that people say he's played out of position but the lad has nothing but pace, he gives the ball away all the time, he has no first touch, has no tachtical awareness and never looks comfortable on the ball, these are all things that professional footballers must have!

I have seem very few glimpses of tallent from him since he arrived at Anfield, something that does frustrate me about Babel is sometimes he gets the ball and looks stronger than Drogba knocking defenders around then the next minute it's like taking sweets from a baby, he just doesn't look ar.5ed half of the time, like most kopites I get frustrated with him like I did with Kuyt when he arrived as a striker but like Kuyt if he ran round and gave 110% I'd back the lad.

Cut our loses and let him take his sh.1te dutch rap lyrics somewhere else!

Seeing this from another angle, I'm half way through Rushie's autobiography and his determination to succeed, the relationship from the very beginning once he´d broken into the first team with Kenny and Souness, the way they encouraged eachother, gave advice and tips etc.. I just dont see either the same huinger or determination from Babel. He's had long enough to show a killer instinct and its not there.

You can also see why Kenny has a place at Anfield, the way he brought Rushie on and was the driving force of the team, changing room as well as Rushie's mentor. If he can reintroduce the bootroom 'coaching' philosophy then it will be a major benefit to us.

Until then, we need to find a hungry striker.

I have and always will maintain he gets unfair criticism. He's a scape goat for the whole team's downfall at times.

And as regards him "just having pace" and "giving the ball away", you try being razor sharp with your touch etc when you get lobbed on 75 mins through a game, it aint easy/nigh on impossible.

Cant agree with that I'm afraid.. basic skills and decision making should be naturally there.. Plus the fact he trains everyday with the rest of the squad doesn't he??

I read quite often that Babel has it all.. I just dont see it... I honestly hope he proves me wrong, but really I reckon he will still be pants once the season starts and the only thing we will read about him in the papers is how unhappy he is...
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

The lad cannot pass a ball, he just needs to polish up on the simple aspects of his game and he could be a far better player.

Get rid if poss, otherwise impact sub again. Really don't see him 'coming good' simply because he doesn't have sufficient technical ability or enough of a footballing brain ('what footballing brain?!' I hear). Attitude/work-rate and fitness you can improve on significantly, raw technique and game intelligence significantly less so.

Send him to some boot camp...Install football on his mind 24/7... Wake him up at 3am and get him ready for a 5 a-side match with the local ghosts. Maybe after all that he may improve his football brain!

Have to agree his attitude is poor but what even worse is he game intelligence as poster above mentioned. The guy is like forrest gump. Runs, runs and runs just doesn't no when to pass. His a average player who would do well with a team like villa or spurs.

Those simple things are aspects all professional footballers at the top level just have instinctivley. I really don't think those are skills that you can learn at this point. Sissoko never learn to pass or keep posession so I don't see how Ryan will be any different.

As for attitude well only he knows why he can't be arsef sometimes but I mean if playing at the top level for a club like Liverpool isn't enough to make you play hard then what will? Personally I'd sell him but we would not even get what we paid for him. Rafa knows this so he has to try and improve his game instead as he relies on funds from player sales to fun his own transfer ambitions.

So, Rafa seems to be pointing out that his mentality was wrong before and that it's better now.  I hope he's right and Babel's like a new signing for us.  I will gladly eat humble pie if he comes good.  Time will tell, though, and the other side of Rafa's comments are that 'this is your last shot, son, impress me.'

totally agree with with raffa's comments, this without any doubt babel's 'last chance saloon' for me. he really needs to accept this,an give everything he's says he's caple of,ability work rate etc,he's been at the club long enough now to understand the expectations of raffa an what it means to play for LFC.

if he believes in his own ability, then show it on a consistant level, raffa has given him enough chances since he joined us,weather it be in a starting role, as sub etc, the issue i have with babel an will always have untill he proves me wrong is his attitude!

it doesn't matter if he is played on the wing or up front,at any stage of any game,he reallly has to show full commitment, play out of his skin, give everything he has to make it very hard for raffa to leave him out of the team the following week, sadly for me up to now has shown none of this to dis-agree with raffa whatso ever. his attitude has to change, then maybe we will see his so called natrual talent, untill then i won't change my opinion of him. this season is massive for babel an his futue with LFC i only hope his realises this! if the manager says it ,he'd better realise it sooner rather than later as he may live to regret the fantastic opportunity he has right now, an prove his worth.
