Keep Babel was played well against Real Madrid & came on yesterday & added alot 2 our attacking was very impressed with him actually he seemed more commanding on the ball

I didnt know hed had a niggling injury until recently so hopefully hes shakin that off now & hell come into his own

Seems like the last time he gave an interview he was moaning. He is at it again. I can see Rafa selling him in the summer.

Babel questions Reds role

Ryan Babel has indicated that he is far from happy with Rafa Benitez’s continual refusal to hand him a starting role for Liverpool.

The Holland international has played only a peripheral role for The Reds this season, starting just six of his 23 games in The Premier League and three of ten in Europe.

Babel was again restricted to a cameo role on Tuesday night when appearing for the final five minutes of Liverpool’s thrilling 4-4 draw with Chelsea and was unable to add to his tally of three goals for the season.

The forward admits Benitez has instructed him to work on the defensive side of his game but still feels he has been underused by the Spaniard in recent months.

“With this supporting role, I am not happy,” Babel told Sportweek.

“I have had three good talks with the trainer this season in which he indicated that I could not lose sight of the defensive aspect.

“It is my feeling that I have strongly improved, but still I get no real chance.”

Babel joined Liverpool for a fee of £11.5 million in the summer of 2007 and has scored 13 goals in 87 appearances for the Merseyside club.

Seriously , if he can play as good as Riera in most of the games he played, getting in a starting 11 week in week out is no problemo. But......

...and complaining to the media about defensive duties, not happy with this , that bla,bla,bla definitely won't help. Sell him....

I agree, Riera is both more consistent and it costed less.

A player that costed 11.5 should moan less and play better.

Sell him.

Ryan Babel likely to head for exit door

Ryan Babel is expected to lead a summer exodus from Liverpool after voicing frustration at his peripheral role in Rafael Benítez's squad this season.

Babel's future was already uncertain, with Benítez eager to reinforce his attacking options at the end of the campaign, and a public complaint about his opportunities is unlikely to improve the Holland forward's prospects at Anfield.

Babel has started only six of Liverpool's 32 Barclays Premier League matches this season, making 17 appearances as a substitute, and was restricted to a five-minute run-out in the Champions League quarter- final, second leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, with Benítez preferring to send on Albert Riera and David Ngog before him. It has been a difficult campaign for Babel, who joined Liverpool from Ajax for £11.5million in July 2007, and it seems that his patience is wearing thin.

“With this supporting role, I am not happy,” Babel said. “I have had three good talks with the trainer this season in which he indicated that I could not lose sight of the defensive aspect. It is my feeling that I have strongly improved, but still I get no real chance.” Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a bid for Babel in January, but Harry Redknapp, the manager, is unconvinced that the 22-year-old would merit a large outlay. Benítez is likely to listen to any significant offers for Babel and Andrea Dossena, who has failed to convince since his arrival from Udinese last summer. Daniel Agger's position is also uncertain, with Barcelona joining Real Madrid and AC Milan in expressing tentative interest in him, but Benítez hopes to persuade the Denmark defender to sign a lucrative extension to his contract, which expires at the end of next season.

Benítez's priorities are a new full back, a new winger and at least one centre forward, as well as the possibility of reviving his interest in Gareth Barry, the Aston Villa midfield player, but his transfer plans have yet to crystallise.

Benítez originally identified David Silva, the Valencia forward, as the player to bring more flair to his attack, but the Liverpool manager conceded last night: “Our chief scout, Eduardo [Macia], was in Valencia and was talking with different people from the club, but someone was talking too much. So, at this moment, Silva is not a target. He is a good player, but not our target.”

I don't really blame the lad if he has a bit of a whinge, he's so far down Rafa's pecking order it must be hard watching the likes of El Zhar and NGog come on ahead of you when your team is chasing a goal. Even when the game is already wrapped up he rarely gets more than 10-15 minutes. No doubt he will be off in the summer but I still think he will have a cameo role to play somewhere before the season is over if we're going to win this thing.

Yeah I admit it's probably hard to motivate yourself when you are always coming of the bench but he needs to do more when he is on the pitch to force Rafa to start him. If he is good enough he would have made an impression right now imo.

Ryan Babel.. what a waste of money, talent, space.. everything.. we might aswell get rid now.. would be better for him, better for us.... he hasnt been given much of a chance this season to be honest... thought with Torres out and Keane sold he'd be given a go upfront or more time on the pitch somewhere but anyways... he's shockingly poor more often than not so eh well.. cant blame him and cant blame rafa, still think he'd do very well elsewhere though.. should have a buy-back clause in there somwhere

The guy has all the talent and ability in the world to be a very very good player just doesnt seem to be able to apply it on the pitch - still young but he still needs to mature more than he has . Think his time is coming up at liverpool . agree that should be sold but with a buy back clause .

His attitude has let him down imo, unlike Benayoun who was unhappy about his lack of playing time but showed his desire on the pitch and has since fought to get some starts and hit some good form.

We'll be lucky to get £6-8m for him now.

Liverpool forward Ryan Babel could be on his way out of Anfield this summer after voicing his frustration at failing to claim a regular starting place.

Babel has had to make do with a peripheral role since joining Liverpool from Ajax for £11.5 million in July 2007.

And with manager Rafa Benitez keen to bolster his squad when the summer transfer window opens, Babel's public complaint may hasten his exit.

Babel has started just six Premier League games this season, making 17 appearances as substitute, and the final nail in the coffin came on Tuesday night when Benitez sent of Albert Rieira and David Ngog before him during the 4-4 thriller at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Times, Tottenham have been linked with the Dutchman but manager Harry Redknapp is unwilling to pay the £10m asking price.

Should Babel leave Liverpool, he could be just one of many fringe players being shown the door as Benitez looks to raise funds to bolster his squad.

Andrea Dossea is another who is likely to depart, while Daniel Agger continues to be linked with moves to either AC Milan or Barcelona.
