Important to finish top of the group. avoiding Barca is a good enough reason for me plus playing the 2nd leg at Anfield are good enough reasons for me. I'm curious to see a Keane/babel partnership up front but I don't think it will happen. really hop the manager does not rest Reina for this one. He doesn't need the rest and it would only make sense IF he was allowed to stay at home and chill out.

would expect Spearing on for Gerrard as well.  Probably N'Gog on at some point.

why r u playing a GK in defence?

Martin Kelly is a defender. (not a goalkeeper as mentioned on the bbc website)

Don't quote me on it (oops you already did  :p   )   No, but he isn't half bad, can play in the centre or at right back for the reserves, he has good height but and has filled out some but not sure if its enough for CB in the prem, remains to be seen if he will fill out more.  He graduated from the academy to Melwood at a young age, and he was actually born in Bolton.

Insua is not registered.

So, would people rather face Barce over 1 leg, or 2?  :p

subs: Cavalieri, Kelly, Alonso, Babel, Ngog, Spearing, Darby.

----------------reina
arbeloa - carra - agger - dossena
benayoun - lucas - mash - riera
--------gerrard
----------------keane

i would have chosen Alonso over Lucas but since Rafa hints Lucas is playing it might look liker this. strong team i feel.

Still a game we need to win but it’s worth leaving one or two at home and one or two on the bench. Leave Kuyt and Alonso at home and put Gerrard and Arbeloa on the bench.

Give Babel a game upfront and Benayoun playing just off him.

                        Reina

Darby     Carragher     Agger     Dossena

Pennant    Lucas    Mascherano   Riera

               Benayoun
                             Babel

Subs

Keane
N'Gog
Gerrard
Spearing
Kelly
Arbeloa
Cavalieri

CH Luke, if it's a game "we need to win" why are we leaving some of our best players on the bench or at home ?

Seems to me we've got a simple decision here, do we want to at least try and finish top of the group or not ? .

Wouldn't surprise me if we fail to take 3 points against PSV, might even be lucky to take 1, and I get the feeling that Rafa's not that bothered.

Its important to end this stage first so i guess rafa will still put out a fairly strong side. I would prefer this team giving lucas another chance and trying out babel upfront. Resting gerrard and alonso. Keane must start and hopefully will score. i say should be 2-0 liverpool keane, benny

                 riena
arbeloa  carra - agger - dossena

benny - lucas - mash - riera

        Babel        keane:) :)

Jeezuz,if I could adjust (and improve) your line up, think we'd stand a better chance if we fielded

.                 Riena

.arbeloa  carra - agger - traffic cone

.benny - traffic cone  - mash - riera

.              Babel       traffic cone

This is not a dead rubber, it is game that if we win there is a CHANCE we will top the group, and thus meaning there is a CHANCE we will get a weaker opponent in the last 16.

Saying that, the actual prize for winning the game is not that high or guaranteed as Atletico Madrid may top our win by beating Marseille. And even if they don’t win and we do we could still get a strong side that finished second in their group.

Also, PSV are not as strong as they were a few years ago, proved by their weak performance at Anfield and the fact that they lie 5th in the Dutch league.

The game is one we need to win because there is a possibility the win will give us a reward. But the fact that there is still a large possibility we will get nothing for winning means that the game against Hull on the weekend is far more important.

I have no problem with Rafa spreading the risk in this particular game.

Yeah Luke, and I have no problem with you exercising ALL your options.

:D

Personally i'm still part of the one game at a time school.
