Lads, I´m full of beans this morning hearing this news however, and theres always a however.... am not totally convinced this strange atttidude to business between certain oil denominated owners and proposed owners is actually a sustainable business plan. Lets take the new owners, build the new stadium and possible access to a few new players but PLEASE do not run up so much debt that we cannot survive without owner debt-forgiveness.

If in 5 years it all goes wrong again WE MUST SURVIVE.

Socialism? what?   :D

I don't want to have an argument about it and/or socialism, so we'll add it to our agree to differ list  :talktothehand

No doubt we will see subtle references to this post in your posts to come

My only beef is the continuous reference to rotation when things go bad (like it is as simple as he claims). Other than that, hand on heart he is a good and balanced poster and good for the forum and contributes much more than me.

Beacause I do not add smiley faces does not mean I am not smiling when I type the post.

It would be nice if DIC were the owners of the club but i can't see it happening soon. There's no moving Hicks. He is in such a great position that whoever wants to buy the club is going to have to pay over the odds. DIC won't do that. It sad because we are all watching what is happening at Man City and thinking of what could have been but there you go. Moores saw a few more quid (which is now the clubs debt) an took it.

I feel the same about Moores but this could happen. Before DIC wouldnt bid 500Mil but the reports coming in today suggest that DIC will bid 500Mil.

But the reality is the Premiership is becoming a billionaires playground, clubs are getting taken over by mega rich consortiums.
Thats the way its going whether we like it or not.
LFC have to move with it or get left behind,if we dont get proper investment soon how many other teams will have money to burn this time next year?
We will be overtaken and fall down the League.
The way things are going I would'nt be surprised if in 5-10 years time the whole League is owned by billionaires!

When you look at the money these people have its scary.Going out and buying a football club is nothing when you have, say £20billion!
Its like me or you going out and buying a car ffs!

you're right, baz. if liverpool want to keep up with the way things are currently going then we have to find our billionaire benefactor and fast. if we want to compete in the premier league that is the only way. but what exactly is it that we will be supporting?

micks analogy with formula 1 is on the money (lame pun intended).

Andy I would love to see a salary cap and all the rest.I agree with pretty much everything Mick has posted tbh!

I think in time it will happen. The question is when?By the time it takes FIFA the FA and whoever else gets involved to sort it out,how many other clubs will be owned by billionaires? It seems a fast growing trend in the world of the mega rich.I would'nt be surprised if a few other clubs are negotiating deals as we speak ffs!
Football has lost its morales a long time ago and the reason is that money is power and can buy virtually anything.
The longer it takes to get something done about it though the harder it will be to implement!
Can you imagine in 5 or 6 years the FA telling a dozen or so Billionaires they cant have their own way?
They would simply fu'ck off leaving god knows how many clubs in chaos and financially doomed!
These rich guys are happy to play around in the EPL,happy on their terms and the way it is now....tell them things are changing
and they dont like it,they will fu'ck off as quick as they appeared!
The Sport would be fu'cked!

No. Why ?
Wouldn't you buy him if you had no other sensible philantropic way to spend your money ?
If, instead of making the lives of the less well off a wee bit better, you couldn't think of anything else to spend your money on ?
If, instead of feeding the starving, alleviating poverty, and being an all-round good person, you chose to spend in a vulgar manner instead ?

This is not just a jab at the new owners of City, but at the vulgarity of money in football today....I was telling the wife the other night about the - almost - hijacking of the Berbatov deal by City "for a few millions more" and she was (rightly, in my mind) horrified. I think she's right too...She doesn't even like football but she has her priorities right.

It's truly sickening.
