Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

You ask why?

Because they have a brain maybe?
First of all they went through our books and took their time
to negotiate a deal with LFC. Everything was done in a proper
and friendly manner.
Then when everything was set to be signed, in come 2 yanks storming with a 11th hour bid and took 2 hours checking LFC's books and DIC believed, that there was a gentlemans agreement. And with total disregard of those 2 yanks past or and proper research, LFC's board only saw the dollar signs and signed on the dotted line.

DIC was humliated and insulted and you expect them to just stump up 4 times what they could had paid then just to be the clubs saviours?

At that time it wouldnt be 4 times the amount. All they had to do was beat whatever bid the yanks gave. The difference is, DIC have the money, the yanks dont, and yet here we are, with the yanks, and the debt to go with them. All I ever read is about how DIC want to own the club. The chance was there, for a much lesser price but they refused to cough up. Why?

They had a chance to own the club, a price far less than what the yanks are pricing the club at today but they refused to pay it. Why?

Blaming DIC for the problem the yanks has put LFC into is low.

And hailing DIC as our potential saviours is deluded. They had a chance to own the club but decided against it.

The only way DIC will even own Liverpool now is launching a hostile takeover. But I cant see that happening. :censored: seeing whats going on with the world economy that will takes months, years to pan out. We need movement in the next few weeks!

So much for all that "At the end of May Gillette can sell" talk.

Hyypia - End boardroom bust-up
Veteran defender demands Gillett and Hicks settle differences

Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has called on co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks to end their boardroom bickering in order to allow the Reds to focus on success.

Gillett and Hicks - who took control at Anfield in February 2007 - suffered a much publicised difference of opinion last term, which saw Merseyside swamped in speculation about the future of the American duo.

Liverpool, who had been tipped to challenge for the Premier League, ended the last campaign without a trophy and failed to reach a cup final for the first time in manager Rafa Benitez's four-year reign.

And veteran centre-back Hyypia has demanded Gillett and Hicks settle their differences in the summer in order to allow Liverpool to land silverware.

Distraction

"I think Liverpool fans and the club expect success in a season and we didn't win anything, so I can't be satisfied," Hyypia said in The People.

"With what has gone on off the pitch I think everyone is professional enough to just concentrate on doing what they do on it and not get too distracted.

"But it doesn't help the football club to be successful and hopefully soon they can get things sorted so we can push on.

"I don't know the whole truth but I know everything is not right with the owners."

Hey, Kharhaz dude, I think if you were DIC and got the agreed price jacked up in the final minute especially when you already have the verbal agreement, you wouldn't be too happy about being played even if you have the money. The only way you are saying why DIC not paying the so called less money then is the money is not yours. I think the way the Liverpool board had acted was very unclassy and they are the main reason of how this mess has become. Blame Parry and the board but not DIC. Currently we only have DIC who had shown their interest on our club and unless there is someone else, DIC is our best hope. Based on what Hicks and Gillette had done so far, don't tell me they have done a great job. Not sure if you know this but Hicks and Gillette doesn't know each other well and had never done any business together. The fact that the board simply went for more money while ignoring the finances and their background was simply at fault here. Hope you can be more subjective here. We all just simply want the best possible ending here. Otherwise, it surely will affect the long term success of the club.

According to SSN Hicks has sent a letter to Hyypia asking for his resignation as centre back.

Thank you for your email, the raw economic facts might mean there is no other option, with the ecomonic downturn across the world, this could infact mean no new stadia for either club, wouldn't that be a blow?

Both clubs should be looking to invest additional resource onto the pitch to break the grip that the top three clubs in English Premier League have got; rather than into infrastructure.

Of course we could all be inward looking and not site examples of success were arch rivals share stadia - Milan???

I will continue to use commonsense to push for a result on stadia rebuild, whilst others pluck at hopeful dreams.

Well in Lynds , Bradley is a first class knob , all he gives a sh!t about is the bluesh!te and living of our status. He's a feckin parasite , and he wants to concentate on running our city properly and not on a feckin groundshare tha's never going to happen.

But isnt it how business works? If one party express an interest there are bound to be other interested parties, this case the yanks. They said themselves the club was a "steal", the yanks were struggling to raise the money, Gillett especially which is why Tom Hicks is here. Any kind of higher bid surely would not have been matched. If the club was a steal, any bid higher than the yanks would still be a bargain for them would it not? It seems to me that they spat there dummy out and wanted the club as cheap as they could get it. We all hope that one (if not both) of the yanks will go and it will eventually get some sort of harmony but it doesnt necessarily mean DIC are the answer to our problems.

No, because it's utter bollox.

In theory, if Liverpool could not afford to move to the new stadium, then Anfield would have to be redeveloped at probably a much lower cost than an entirely new stadium. The capacity would be reduced for a year until the Main Stand was replaced with a stand three times it's size.

Then a season later the tiny Anfield Road stadium would be knocked down and replaced with a much larger stand. That should bump the capacity up to around 60K. If the local council really wanted to help LFC, they could give us permission to wipe out the Anfield Road in order to expand the stand.

It's all this "planning permission" bollox that causes delays.

Both clubs should be looking to invest additional resource onto the pitch to break the grip that the top three clubs in English Premier League have got; rather than into infrastructure.

Liverpool are capable of breaking into the top three on their own merits. They don't need to sacrifice their independent identity in order to catch fooking Arsenal.

Of course we could all be inward looking and not site examples of success were arch rivals share stadia - Milan???

And what about all the successful teams in the world who don't share stadiums?

Real Madrid? Barcelona?

Fook off.

If he wants to make himself useful, he should grill Hicks and Gicks about when exactly this Stanley Park project will being.

Looks like the Glazer sceme will be coming into effect.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/tickets/fancard.htm
From May 31 2008 we will no longer issue new Fan Cards. If you are an existing Fan card holder your card will remain active. You will still be able to apply for tickets and have your attendance recorded.

From 1st July 2008 we will be launching a new membership scheme with a new card design and technology. This scheme will offer you a whole host of new benefits including exclusive access to match tickets.

Probably 30 to 50 pound membership will come into play here.

I can't really see the problem with agroundshare, it's not ideal but if it means we get more moeny coming in every week then surely that is a good thing.

BTW I agree with Karhaz about DIC screwing up in not buying us the first time around, they must bitterly regret not being a bit tougher back then becuase it will now cost them a lot more money if they want LFC. Good businessmen I don't think  :no

If Hicks and Gillett deliver us another big name signing in this tranfer period then I expect peoples attitudes will start too change a bit, they've already given us Torres and Mascherano, not too bad really.

Don't get me wrong I don't like either of them but I think we have to start getting used to them as they me around for a while, and yes I know I have changed my tune but I was expecting to hear something before now  :sniffle
