dic to go the way of steve morgan?   what not have enough money to buy the club in the first place !  steve morgan was full of sh!t,

i have finger crossed that hick announces he is a fat pr!ck and sorry for all the embarrassment and lies    not much chance on the truth making it out of his gob

the only turn up fot the books out of this whole saga is that parry will be down the road and away from our club, hopefully down the east lancs to the scum and in ten years of his magic he could take them down the sh!tter too

If Rafa walks then I will :censored: cry because depsite what people think it would be a :censored: disaster for this club financially to not compete in the champs league until we get a stadium. Very good post, but sadly some people still won't get it no matter how you try to explain it to them.

Caught something on Sky before that the interview will be shown after 6a.m. tomorrow.
I was hoping that the fat fecker had finally shown a bit of sense and decided that the time had come to stop doing this kind of thing in public.
What a foolish thought on my part.

Seems like Hicks is determined to draw Rafa into their little game.

From The TimesApril 17, 2008

Tom Hicks set to offer Rafael Benitez new dealJames Ducker
As one prominent former Liverpool player expressed last night the belief that Rafael Benítez would not be at Anfield next season, Tom Hicks, the club's controversial American co-owner, is expected to reiterate his desire to offer the manager a contract extension today as the knives are sharpened in the bitter boardroom battle.

Hicks has made repeated attempts to emphasise his support for Benítez after claiming to have resolved his differences with the Liverpool manager in the wake of revelations that he and George Gillett Jr, his fellow owner, held talks with Jürgen Klinsmann last year about the former Germany coach taking charge at Anfield.

Having indicated over the weekend that he would extend Benítez's contract, which has two years to run, Hicks is expected to offer further explanations as to why in an interview with Sky Sports this morning, although the sceptics believe that such declarations are little more than an attempt to curry favour from supporters as he seeks to drive Rick Parry, the chief executive, out of the club.

Benítez retains the backing of the fans and, by siding with the manager, Hicks believes that he will strengthen his chances of removing Parry, who has resisted the Texan's calls to resign amid support from the majority of the board, including Gillett. Whether Benítez would sign a new deal, if the offer of one is forthcoming, is another matter. Dismayed by the civil war that has engulfed the club and aware that there may be no shortage of suitors at the end of the season, especially if he can guide Liverpool to a second Champions League triumph in four seasons, Benítez may opt to walk away.

Gillett would be unlikely to support Hicks's offer of a new contract, given that he was the one who instigated the talks with Klinsmann, and that Dubai International Capital (DIC), the Arab investment consortium that is confident of taking control at the club, may favour the appointment of its own manager.

What is certain, however, is that Benítez and Parry cannot continue to work together. The pair have not seen eye to eye for a long time and the revelation over the weekend that the chief executive was present at one of the two meetings with Klinsmann served only to undermine their relationship further. Unless DIC wins control soon, or Benítez or Parry steps down, it is difficult to see how the crisis can be resolved before the end of May, when the “first refusal” agreement between Hicks and Gillett, which dictates that one must offer the other his 50 per cent share before doing so to a third party and vice versa, comes to an end.

With that in mind, Mark Lawrenson, the former Liverpool defender, believes that Benítez may decide that enough is enough. “The problems off the pitch could give him an excuse to leave,” he said. “If they win the Champions League there would be no shortage of takers and he probably thinks, 'Why should I turn up and flog my guts out for this lot when I don't know what is going to happen next week?'”

Of more immediate concern is the Barclays Premier League match away to Fulham on Saturday. Benítez invited fierce criticism by playing a weakened team in the corresponding fixture last season, which Fulham won 1-0, a result that helped to seal Sheffield United's relegation.

But amid calls from Gary Megson, the Bolton Wanderers manager, for his Liverpool counterpart to “retain the integrity” of the league, Benítez intimated that he would not play a weakened team as he seeks to all but secure fourth place before the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday. “We will think about Chelsea, but for us to be in the top four is really important and we will have enough energy to play against Chelsea,” Benítez said.

Aye, aye its the truth that. Forget about the CL and just concentrate on the prem the idiots say, forget the revenue that without there would be little in the way of signings? Forget the fact that top players want to play for us to be part of a team that does consistantly well in the CL? Forget the success?
When we do win the league ( if rafa stays ) it will be directly because of the success enjoyed in beating europe`s elite.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

The dirty :censored: liar im fumin after watching his interview how dare he sit with an empty :censored: brand new liverpool cup (suppossedly ful) while pretening to watch the Blackburn game with his family , one of the lads looked bored sh.itless.

Alls he went on about was money the greedy bas.tard an when he said he wants to make Liverpool as good as his teams in America i nearly choked . His team is S.hit there.

Never knew that Parry was with Klinsman on his own though for about 2 hours before they turned up for the meeting.

They even googled Klinsmans name to see his credentials and what he was about . Shame on you Moores for not doing the same regarding them two,

Raffa a new long term contract hopes wants him to be here when the new stadium is built .lol what a joke well all be pushing zimmer frames before a spade is even put in the ground . YOU LYING B.astard.

I for one hate him even more after that interview i :censored: hate him

Hi, is that John in Skem? This is Tom Hicks in Texas!

Apr 17 2008 by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo
Hi, is that John in Skem? This is Tom in Texas!

Hi, is that John in Skem? This is Tom in Texas!

THE Liverpool FC fan behind a petition to oust club co-owner Tom Hicks got the shock of his life when the US tycoon called to discuss the campaign.

Reds supporter John McCaffrey launched his online protest against the Texan as controversy surrounding the multi-millionaire’s Anfield tenure grew.

The petition has been enthusiastically received by many fans with more than 2,000 people adding their signatures.

At 11.30pm on Monday, as 22-year-old John sat down to a pint of Guinness at his parents’ Skelmersdale home, his mobile phone rang.

The engineer told the ECHO: “I just couldn’t believe it. I went as white as a sheet when I realised it was Tom Hicks Snr.

“I put him on loudspeaker so all my family could hear him and we chatted for around 30 minutes about the club.

“He asked me what I was playing at with the petition.

“But he was stuttering a little bit at first when he spoke.

“He said the work on the stadium was going to start in a couple of months and he mentioned Rick Parry a lot.

“I told him I was going to carry on with the petition which I don’t think he was too happy about.”
Tom Hicks

Mr McCaffrey today said he would present the completed petition to Mr Hicks. He hopes to attracts tens of thousands of signatures to his campaign which demands Mr Hicks sell his stake in Liverpool Football Club.

He added: “Liverpool FC is one big community, but the fans are genuinely hurting. These fans are the best in the world, but the way they are being treated is a joke.”

A spokesman for Tom Hicks said: “There was a wide-ranging conversation between Mr Hicks and Mr McCaffrey which was basically a chat.

“It’s not Mr Hicks’s way to demand things. He wanted to talk things through with Mr McCaffrey and understand where he was coming from.”
