Dundalk wrote:Interesting...

A day after Hicks broke off negotiations on a partnership deal with Dubai International Capital, the correspondence underlines the Dallas businessman's determination to stop George Gillett selling his shares to DIC.

In the emails, Hicks blames Gillett for the calamitous PR own-goal of approaching Jurgen Klinsmann as a replacement for manager Rafa Benitez last November before going on to criticise him for holding the club back.

"I have a large investment and plan to make a bigger one," Hicks told one fan in an email, later published on the internet. "Gillett has held us back financially, but that will change. In the end, one person must have responsibility for making decisions. It has been very difficult for George and me to agree on things (Klinsmann) and DIC wanted their people to have an equal vote on things like keeping Rafa (I will), signing players and managing the business.

"The club has not been run very well for a long time now. I intend to fix the problems."

In another email, Hicks writes: "I have taken huge risks because I believe our club can be the best in the world again.

"Gillett knew Klinsmann from Vail [Colorado]. In hindsight, it was a big mistake, but I have publicly, and privately, backed Rafa since our meeting December 16th.

"The finances will be fine. We are playing much better. DIC has been playing the press like a drum. Our new stadium will be the best in the world."

Hicks' exchanges with fans are part of a new charm offensive to persuade supporters to drop their opposition to his long-term ambitions to remain in charge at Anfield.

However, fans' groups have expressed their anger at Hicks' decision to call off talks with DIC as they closed in on a £170 million deal with Gillett for his 50 per cent stake. Hicks says he has the power to block the sale.

Les Lawson, secretary of the Liverpool Supporters' Association, said: "As far as I'm concerned, there is no way Hicks and Gillett are going to win back the trust of the supporters."

The email from hicks or his PR team was in reply to a couple of lads questions on rawk that they emailed to hicks. They sent the replies to the broadsheets to stir the sh!t between G+H . Hopefully it might have some effect. :D

no need for all that hatred just becase he didn't get you a prezzie for your birthday nanny :p

he's here for a long time unfortunately I think we just have to accept it. he doesn't look prepared to sell so we're in real trouble.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Gillett breaks silence
12/03/2008 - 9:14:23 PM

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett has finally broken his silence on his strained relationship with Tom Hicks.

Gillett has not made a public statement on the current takeover turmoil at the club since the controversial financial repackaging of the loans Hicks and Gillett took out to buy the club last year.

Gillett’s son Foster – a board member – was withdrawn from the day-to-day operations at Anfield as Gillett prepared to sell his 50% stake to Dubai International Capital.

Gillett, who also owns the Montreal Canadiens ice hockey club, was speaking at a sports conference in California when – answering a question on whether he would remain a co-owner of Liverpool – he said: “I would say, choose your partners wisely.”

That remark, in answer to a question from Abraham Madkour, editor of a sports business journal in the US, explained much about the differences between Hicks and Gillett.

Gillett was appearing at the IMG world sports conference in California.

He also said: “He (Tom Hicks) is a great guy – but he has just got a different perspective on the media.”

Hicks has this week been critical of DIC’s use of the media to support their plans to buy out Gillett.

Dallas-based Hicks has criticised DIC’s tactics and terminated talks with the Dubai-based sports empire on Monday.

This followed his complaints about leaked documents and comments from DIC that implied they would want management control despite only buying a 49% stake.

He was also upset with what was considered triumphant comments that suggested DIC would soon buy his stake.

For Gillett to suggest he did not choose his partner wisely when he bought the club from former chairman David Moores says much about the current situation.

Gillett initially wanted to buy the club on his own, but brought in Hicks’ financial muscle when he could not do the deal himself.

Why the feck did Moores agree to sell the club to someone who clearly couldn't afford it? Alarms bells should have started ringing then.

Great, a Texas style shootout right over our heads with no consideration for "collateral damage".

Self centered, self serving f.ucking w@nkers (and we have to include Moores as well).

I still think this is all just posturing and bullsh1t, they'll both end up selling, probably in June some time if not sooner. I didn't expect Hicks to be a completelty stupid stubborn :censored: but if thats the game he wants to play then there can only be one winner and as with most things its the guy with themost money, so it will soon be feck off Hicks and Gillett, welcome DIC.

every time either one of those tw@ts says anything other than thanks for the money we're off p!sses me off just a little bit more

this is the worst dragged out feck up since the stadium plans we,re announced   pre butch and sundance

gillett just stop being a fanny and sell your share as you couldn't afford it on your own and you fecked up with your bum boy texan tw@t that you've brought in and dragged our great club through the gutter press and are now tarnished with filth

i still feel parry and moores have got off very lightly as far as stick is concerned and i reckon as far as things to show our displeasure would be to demand parry get his p45 , as the bloke is a disgrace and hasn't even had the balls to come out and say that the club got it very wrong(or moores for that matter)
