I dont understand, my grasp of this is maybe a bit patchy. Buy isn't it gilettes shares that DIC are trying to purchase and isn't the arrangement that if Hicks cant buy out George then he cant stop DIC doing so

I think if either wants to sell, the other has to consent to it.

We cannot let this man own our club , we have to make a stand . It's not about supporting the team on the pitch ,it's about THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB.We will end up like Leeds utd if this man is left in charge . Drastic situations call for drastic measures ,and if this tw@t wants to keep he club we must have a TOTAL BOYCOTT of the club to get him out . We can't let him ruin us ,it's our club and we must every last one of us MAKE A STAND NOW.

Here it is:

Tom Hicks, co-owner of Kop Football (Holdings) Limited and, through it, of Liverpool Football Club, today issued the following statement:

"Based on a meeting held earlier today in Dubai between my representatives and officials of Dubai International Capital LLC, as well as other recent contacts between us and them, I have decided to terminate any further discussions with DIC regarding their possible purchase of a minority stake in Kop and, in turn, in the Club.

"DIC made it clear that if they invested in the Club, they would want it to be managed by committee. Based on my thirteen years of successful experience as an owner of professional sports teams, and based in particular on the situation at Liverpool Football Club over the past year, it is clear to me that such a committee approach would not be in the best interest of Kop, of the Club or of the Club's loyal and passionate supporters.

"Accordingly, I have decided to exercise my right under the Kop Football (Holdings) Limited partnership agreement to veto any sale of any portion of Kop and the Club to DIC.

"I and my colleagues and representatives will continue to explore a number of other options with regard to the ownership of Kop and the Club aimed at achieving an appropriate ownership, financial and organizational structure for Kop and the Club over the long term."

What a whopper of the highest order

is it legal for Hicks to veto the sale of Gillettes shares to a third party. surely a directer of a company cant pull a stunt like that.

Forget everything except BOYCOTTING a few matches ..nothing else will work..absolutely nothing.

This toad will only walk when he appreciates that LFC fans are NOT going to line his filthy pockets..

What value will the club be if no-one goes to matches ..he will crawl out of here on his hands and knees..no-one will loan him a dime if they see ONE match boycotted - one mass boycott and he will  run.

Concerted fan action is the only way ..forget merchandising etc that's a drop int he ocean..gate receipts , TV rights, sponsorship etc etc  are wher he needs to be hurt.
Which sponsor will sit back and accept an empty stadium? They'll be up his jacksy faster than Julian Clary on Viagra.

If anyone has a better solution I'm all ears...if it doesn't affect the fat  tw=ts pockets I assure you it won't work.

How fucking dare he use US the fans as a reason for not wanting his grip on the club weakened. He clearly wants to run the club like a dictatorship going by that statement.

The fucking weasel is clearly looking for somebody to financially bail him out of the shit storm he's created with that massive loan whilst he still gets his own way in the boardroom. No doubt these other minority investors he's spoken of are some of his cronies and cuntry club chums that will help him fook us over even more. :veryangry

If this is the end of DIC's interest i really do fear for the future of Liverpool F.C. as we know it.

steve mcmahon left the swindon job after his family was insulted at a game. Hicks will walk but he seems like the sort who will destroy the club rather than give in.

"BOYCOTTING a few matches" is stupid. Our team is in high moral, how well do you think they are going to play when they have no fans while playing at home? Talk about kicking moral in the nuts, pulling them off, cutting each limb of with a chainsaw then shoving everything in a blender.

All this selling of the clubs doesnt help the players, they dont need to have no fans at home, they need to be cheered on louder than ever
"Fernando Towers won't triumph in the premiership.
And you can quote me on that. " - Sabre 2007
Sorry Sabre, but when i see stuff like this i have to quote it :D
