IMO -

DIC will end up having control at Liverpool in some capacity before long.

Back to the takeover topic, Gillet doesn't need to worry about Hicks' threats. If Gillet is a smart man, his new found ally will be DIC. Just look at DIC's portfolio... DIC Portfolio

And mind you, that's DIC only. DIC is just a part of a bigger body

C'mon DIC!! Get in there!!  :buttrock

If Dubai want LFC, they will get us.

Gillett already knows it.

Hicks will too.

Keane, McCliesh, Ramos, Keegan (this time round) O'Neill, Eriksson and Megson have all be managing their repsective clubs for less time than Coppell has been managing Reading, but Reading are lower than them all. Your explanations here please.

I fail to understand why you persist in going down the route of isolating one factor that tends to influence the success of football clubs, disregarding a host of others, in an attempt to prove something. You do exactly the same thing with money and it's just fu.cking stupid.

Joe terp did not say more time as a manager at a given club = more success.

If it did, Guy Roux would've won 20 consecutive European cups.

What I believe he's saying, and what is obvious is; Wenger's gained significant experience in the English game during his time with Arsenal, that has made his ability to build a young talented side on a relatively low budget much easier.

Yes and my point is Coppell has been managing at his current longer than the list I've already given at their current clubs but isn't doing better, so time isn't a proper excuse.

Benitez can perform better than other managers who've been in charge longer, Mark Hughes (blackburn) and Allerdyce (when at bolton) But nobody seems able to explain why. Not to where it actually convinces me anyway.

gbjh... if you keep doing that you won't be able to explain anything... so nothing is a good excuse... unless you go back to primary school and say that since 1 + 2 = 3, 1 is a good excuse for making 2 become 3....

Well if that is the case then Moores should do the honourable thing and sell his 1% to DIC then Hicks can go and :censored: himself. Moores should be ashamed of the mess he's landed us in, he's a complete bloody idiot.

Gillett turns down £80m DIC offer for his Liverpool FC share
Mar 5 2008 Tony Barrett

GEORGE Gillett has turned down a vastly improved offer for Liverpool Football Club from Dubai International Capital.

Sources close to DIC said the proposed deal would have seen the American walk away with £80m profit, plus add- ons, after just over a year at the helm at Anfield, or £203,045 for each of the 394 days thus far he has been co- owner of the club.

But the revised offer was rejected by Gillett late last night and DIC indicated they would not be raising their offer again, even though they still maintain an interest in buying Liverpool.

Gillett instructed his lawyers to attend the meeting at a top London hotel on his behalf.

DIC was represented by Amanda Staveley.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry also attended, having been invited there by both DIC and Gillett to represent the best interests of the club.

Gillett was unable to attend in person as he is recovering from illness at his home in Vail, Colorado.

But he was in constant phone contact with all parties.

Sources close to Gillett dispute the £80m figure, insisting the offer would have given the American a profit closer to £40m.

But what is beyond any doubt is the fact that DIC raised their initial offer dramatically to try to take over his 50% stake.

With Tom Hicks still sticking to his guns and insisting he does not want to sell his stake, the future of Liverpool Football Club remains delicately poised.

Unless one of the parties gives some ground the present situation is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

The impasse has caused uproar among many Liverpool fans with the recently formed Spirit of Shankly group planning a protest against the club’s American owners during half-time at tonight’s Premier League home game with West Ham.

Spokesman Neil Atkinson today told the ECHO the time had now come for Gillett and Hicks to quit the club.

He said: “We can only urge Tom Hicks and George Gillett to take the DIC offer and leave Liverpool FC

“Al-Ansari talks about Tom Hicks’s valuation of the club being ‘in dreamland’; Mr Hicks is further in dreamland if he thinks he will ever be accepted at LFC.

“He’s a rich man, a business man, but surely, being as rich as he is, he wants to be able to enjoy his investments.

“If he tries to grin and bear it then it emphasises what we already know – he’s only in it for one reason: the money and the money alone.

“Let Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett go now with profit and a modicum of grace. Let us start again with new owners, keep our eyes open and work with them to get that family silver polished.”

It's just sad that Moores finds himself to balme for this whole mess, Parry i expected to be an absolute joke but i always liked Moores and always thought he had the clubs best intrests at heart.

Why oh why are they doing this? do the yanks think they can do a better job? Do they expect that spending on the stadium is the only thing they will need to spend money on?? Can they afford to buy players come the new season of EPL??? Do they know that there is no draft pick in the EPL and that failure will come in the grand scale of relegation and millions of pounds lost sigh... :(

Can somebody please tell me how the hell can they afford to buy players next season?? :( :(

I know we all want G&H out and fast, and that DIC look to be our saviours, but i hope before the sale goes through they make their intentions public and that there is someone at the Club who gives enough of a shi t to ensure the deal is good for the Club.
