John they make Abramovitch look like a tramp money wise :D

You only have to look at there other buissnesess they have to be number one in everything they do 20 MILLION is peanuts to the Sheikh to buy a player he payes more than that for some of his horses as yearlings. And they believe in tradition, If they dont buy and the other little :censored: stays in charge then yes i would be worried about doing a Leeds cause hes skint and living on credit

The liar said hed borrowed 60 million to get the new stadium off i havnt even seen a spade produced so weres that money gone. Afew months ago he wanted Raffa gone now hes his bezzy mate somethink stinks here to high heaven

I know this Nanny, but another of my posts explains why I'm nervous of their takeover. IF they give us the open cheque book many are expecting and we bring in for arguement's sake Eto'o, Villa, Lahm and Silva YET still don't win the league. So they give us another open cheque book for the 2009/10 season and we buy Lennon, Richards, Pato and Kaka YET still don't win the league. Then another open cheque book for 2010/11 and we bring in Messi, Benzema, Ben Arfa and Owen (for his final years) YET still don't win the league. They're just going to pull the plug and leave us having to find wages for the 12 I've mentioned as well as Torres, Gerrard, Mascheranho, Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Babel and Carragher.

If they take over, it'll be more imperitive for us to win the league to ensure they don't pull the plug and leave us in huge amounts of debt. That's why me nerves are janglling at the thought.

Dont be nervous John i dont think there gonna go that mad on buying  :D we dont need that many players any way but the funding will be there when  world class players become our targets before we lost out on many occasion because we couldnt compete

Money is a misread thing in football. So many people think it's the only way to win things, I feel like a parrott repeating meself about this arguement (I'm going to do to Nanny in me next post aswell) but it CAN be a bad thing. If one it's spent badly (veron at united) or two it's spent before you actually have it (leeds)
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

No ones saying were gonna spend spend spend but if we did try and compete in the transfer market for a player who the boss wanted to bring to the club hope fully they would support it at least we could compete with out borrowing  these Arabs are not stupid there not gonna be giving us an open cheque book but they will bring finacial stability back to the club

We missed out on world stars? Torres and Mascheranho are two world stars we got this season.

The other players we were after (if memory serves me right were)...Simao, Quaresma, Henize and Owen (to some extent.) Those four to me (right now) aren't word stars (based on what I've seen.) Plus other than Henize none of them are at clubs any better than us. Simao at Athletico Madrid (probably as good as us, so if he's only be bought by a fourth rate side in Spain it proves the best clubs don't want him so we didn't miss out on a player everyone wanted) Queresma is at Porto who I think are probably as good as Newcastle and Blackburn. So again top clubs didn't want him. Owen is in an average side and isn't a world star anymore (injuries helping that of course).

So I don't think we missed out on any world stars in the summer or January. We brought in a world class forward in Torres instead of Owen. A bloody good winger in Babel instead of Queresma and Simao and a lad who looks decent in Skrtel instead of Heinze. So I don't see us missing out. Just a personal opinion, obviously we all have different ones, but that's the way I see it.

In fact if you look at it, it was US WHO MADE OTHERS MISS OUT. Arsenal wanted Babel, we got him. United, Chelsea and Barcelona wanted Lucas but it's us who've got him. Every club around the globe wanted Mascheranho but he's on our books. Real Madrid wanted Torres but because Athletico wouldn't sell to their rivals (exactly like Henize and us) we managed to persuade Torres to join us. So in reality it's been who have caused other sides to miss out on world stars or potential world stars.

3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Can anyone get Dubai radio apparently The Shiekh is supposed to have made a statement on it today i read in another thread just would like to know if its true or not this came from here

AOL LFC forum.

For those of you who do not know me on this board, i am Dave Carrington a scouser of the blue persuasion living here in Dubai, the local news last night has been full of the DIC bid for Liverpool, apparentley it is nearly a foregone conclusion that they WILL be buying up to 50% of shares and hope to gain complete control of the board by the weekend (which is Thursday and Friday out here), don't know if you can get Dubai Radio 2 on the internet but there has been quite an interesting quote from Sheik Rashid Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (you better get used to pronouncing that .....he is going to be your next chairman) about already looking at building a larger stadium than has been planned in an area to the west of the City that would include hotels and conference facilitys, and other sporting venues (Altcar has been muted) ssooooooh repeat after me your new greetings when you meet on the Kop "Assalam allah cum" to which you must reply "Allah Cum Sallam"....THEN you must ask "Kefil Hal" which means are your camels well, thats no sh*t!

Couldn't care less about Newcastle or any other Club, they are not us. The reasons given for the takeover were that in the 'new' world we couldn't compete financially anymore and any chance of a new stadium would require outside funding and in general we all accepted that and understood it at the time. I think your point about money has very little merit,(yeah yeah it can be spent poorly, but it always has been, remember David Speedie?) the facts are that without money, and lots of it, there is no way on Earth that ANY team will EVER win the PL.

no worries love, the lad said he's scouse therefore he's having a joke like most scousers. Don't take it to seriously because if it is true I'm going to get the hump asking about his camels  :D  (alright oldest joke in the world but it has to be said)

IT cost lots and lots, my understanding is that most of their deals have tie ins, to that i mean additional money is paid, for example a player completes 50 games, 100 games, and even then the initial fees have been well into the millions,. not £4.50. And the last time i checked they won the FA Cup in 2005, and only just, nothing since or yet.

and they are only top of the league right now, nothing has been decided, if United win, its a totally different issue on how much the team cost? also Wenger has had plenty of TIME to build this team from cheaper youth signings

I remember Ipswich under George Burley in the premiership. They didnt have the financial muscle but my god they didnt half do well that season. George Burley got ipswich into the uefa cup and many teams in the premiership have to spend a small fortune just to achieve that. Money helps but its the attitude of players and backroom staff that make things happen.
