maybe not static, he wasnt running with the ball half as much as usual tho

Yeh fair enough... I was bowing down to his goal, its importance to the 2nd leg and our season... Stevie's legend to us isn't he?  One of the greatest Liverpool players of all time.

I thought the ref got it wrong with the 2 yellows leading to the red card but even before that we were totally dominant.

Can't believe there was only one Italian playing in the Inter side... a superb defensive display from them for 85 mins though.

Stevie... what can you say about this man?  I haven't got the words  :bowdown

People had praised Mascherano big time. And deservedly so. He did both the sung and the unsung things superbly.

But it was a massive game also of other players. My point is that we had a great team on front, but our CB were superb, against a very difficult player to play against, that Ibrahimobic.

Torres was a bit in latin mode against the Italians, sneaked a yellow, dived another time... you could blame him for that, but at the end the Italians will do it to you if they can aswell (remember the first goal of the CL final). He played well considering the difficult match it was for his characteristics.

Gerrard made a great game and I confess I repeated 23 times his last goal. More than the shot, unstoppable with bounces, accurate, it's a pleasure to watch how he addresses that shot, the perfect body gesture, the quickness of the decission. Should be shown to kids in all schools that goal.

Absolutely happy for Kuyt aswell. He might deserve to be told that he's not good enough for Liverpool, but he should never be insulted.

I needed a win like this like you need a woman after 2 months without sex. What a relief.

Note also that he didnt look at goal between receiving the ball til after the shot, like all good strikers (?) he knew where he had to place the shot to beat the keeper by instinct.   :bowdown

Spot on Sabre, I have to admit I felt a bit uncomfortable with Torres' diving , not really the English way , but wha't the f'uck, as you say , the Italians do it all the time , so i'm not gonna complain if one of of our lads gives them a taste of their own medicine.

Last night was a fantastic performance from the lads, there is no mistake but they have shown that they cannot keep that level of performance up week in week out consistantly. Out of the 11 that started most played very well, but I do feel that Kuyt was out of position and looked limited (despite the goal which was well taken) and Sami looked shaky at times.

I was also shocked by the substitution of Babel who was a constant threat. I actually thought that arguably our best player was Aurelio, he got up and down all night and looked assured.

Rafa got everything right, and I do not want to be seen as someone who is wanting to dampen the ardour of everyone here. But one good result does not mean we are going to win anything.

It will still be a massive accomplishment if we go to the San Siro in three weeks and go through.

Strange how we differ so much in our opinions..... I personally thought Babel looked ordinary and to be honest I don't think he's come close to showing a real return on his transfer fee yet. Stevie Finnan on the other hand looked great to me, i thought he outshone Aurelio on the other side and linked up well with Jermaine when he came on. Finnan has been a bit of a constant for me in an otherwise stuttering season.
It wasn't Kuyt's fault that he was put out wide but you do know that he'll do a 100% job when asked...... Sami is performing admirably really considering that he wasn't intended to be first choice this year.
But......... frustrating doesn't even come close to describing this campaign..........!!

Be interestin if Rafa left that team alone to play Boro the weekend. Same starters, Crouchie poised for a second half barrage if reqd. If what he's said is true about playin on merit, then they deserve that I feel. Imagine Kuyt scorin 3 in 3........ mind blowin for the guy!!
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

The second leg will not be easy but in fairness we have given ourselves a great chance. Matarazzi is out and it dosent look like Cordoba will make it either.

Should be a great nights football in three weeks time.

Anybody know when the draw is, because we play after everyone else in the second leg, so will we know who we'll get or is the draw after our match?
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.
