DIC are still in talks.  Their big guns are now involved too. As are the smaller players. M & M.

A lot of hurdles to be cleared... but the progress has been very positive.  All parties feel that a deal is very, very close.

My source is in London this weekend to meet all involved, which includes high officials from DIC and the AmericanSSSS.

Don't be surprised if the AmericanSSSS are represented at the match on Sunday.

So, its all good so far, but just wait it out.

Any news on this weekend's 'meetings'?

The way i see it DIC will want to make their move before the share liverpool scheme gets up a head of steam, they'll want to be seen as the fans choice and the only option.

Hi everyone, I've been following this forum and discussion very closely for the past few months with great interest.

Anyways, here's my contribution of a summary of events.

1) Moores & Parry rejected DIC some time back because they thought DIC were in it for the money and did not have the club as priority.
2) They accepted G&H because G&H 'showed' that they have the club as priority
3) Now, after the whole fiasco, G&H are squeezing the life out of our beloved club and trying to extract every profit available, putting on purpose, the entire history and life of Liverpool FC on a very bad loan for the sole purpose of having more negotiating power and bigger profits, with whoever is interested in buying Liverpool FC from them.

Back to point 1, why were Moores and Parry reluctant to sell to DIC in the first place?? Better profits from G&H?? If that is true then its really sad. But IF Moores and Parry acted with integrity and had the club's wellbeing as #1 priority, then they were probably conned by the damn Yanks. Which brings us to the next big question...

Will DIC screw up also?? Because IF DIC screws up, God help us all...

IMHO, I'm all for DIC to come in as they are really the lesser of 2 evils and they represent better opportunities for the club. here's why...

1) G&H Finances vs DIC Finances
According to Forbes Magazine 2007, Tom Hicks has an estimated wealth of $1.3 billion USD. George Gillet, building his fortune through sports franchises and meat production with an estimated fortune of around £3bn (source: wiki). This brings their total combined fortune to be around US$7b. Note1, much of which are assets and not cash. Note2, US economy on the down.

As for DIC's wealth, based on Dubai Holdings which is DIC's parent company, too numerous to list down. A brief look at wiki and I estimate what they spend in investments to be nothing less than US$10b. Mind you, this is what they spent, not what they have. What they have is estimated at a few hundred billion dollars. Dubai is part of the UAE. The UAE has close to US$1 trillion in sovereign funds in various investment groups where one of them is Dubai Holdings.

Now... logically speaking, DIC would have been the ideal choice for a very stable future for Liverpool. IF DIC buys Liverpool FC, our club would never be in debt. Yes, perhaps the Americans could afford to do everything in cold hard cash but if anything happened (touch wood) they would never be financially able to weather the storm. They would become bankrupt and lose everything. Obviously they didn't want to take that risk and so guess what happened, they refused to dip into their own pockets, took a loan and slapped it on our club.

Again, logically speaking (I have to use logic here because I am not a businessman that deals with hundreds of millions) DIC would never have taken a loan. Why take a loan when you can afford it? Makes financial sense to pay $10 now than take a loan and pay $15 or more for the same item.

2) Fans vs non-fans
This part is speculation and part from the media. It is very well confirmed that before G&H bought their stake in Liverpool, they knew squat about football, in fact now they still know squat.
DIC on the other hand have not only football fans but Liverpool fans who are at the helm of the company. And the very fact that they are still interested in Liverpool even though they probably gonna get a :censored: deal from the damn Yanks might just as well prove how genuine they are.

The last billionaire who made his money in oil and is a football fan bought a certain blue club and delivered 2 titles to them.
I know.. manure has a yank owning them too and they won the title but manure has Ferguson and as much as I hate to admit it, ferguson is that damn good.

In conclusion, unless proven otherwise, I feel that DIC really is the best option there was and there still is. I'm perplexed as to why Moores and Parry rejected them in the beginning sigh...

S.O.S. DIC

Something is afoot here , why have we now deleted the gillett selling thread. If it was just a hoax , the mods on here and on rawk and on raotl would surely have said so .

Today's been like an episode of the x-files, I never normally go on other forums but because everyone has been name-checking them I have been.

All threads and post related to GG selling to DIC are being deleted. I think this smacks of a bit of McCarthy era paranoia! Surely the powers that be aren't on our forums are they???  :D

I understand that negotiations may be finely balanced but I think this type of censorship may be being caused by an over-inflated sense of self importance... ???

If there were doubts about it's validity couldn't it have been moved to the rumours thread?

That's what it's there for, isn't it?

I think some good advice from here on in would be to treat any "rumour" regarding tweedle-dumb or tweedle-dee selling up should be treated as pure bullshit until we either see G&H rearing up on their horses before riding off into the sunset, or Sheikh Mohammed touching down at Speke and a convoy of Bentleys parking up outside the main stand.

Until then  :talktothehand
