Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Everyone needs to pull together. H/G need to support the manager, Rafa needs to bang the players heads together to convince them to actually win games rather than drawing them, and the fans need to support the club and players.

The "Let's Get H/G Out" protest fizzled at the Villa game. A few banners and little else.

It's time to move on.

Agreed, like I said earlier it looks like there in for the long haul and although many havent been happy with how they have run things the fact is the reinvestment is in place, the new plans are shown for the new stadium, building can take place and hopefully they will rush through the mascherano deal before the end of this month. Lets put the protests on held until the end of the season and support the team through to the end of the season.

Hicks had a 'holding company', Like Kop football limited, for Dallas Stars called Southwest Sports. It defaulted 4 years ago and shifted the debts onto Dallas Stars.

It is a good thing Dallas Stars owner Tom Hicks is a billionaire. Otherwise, he might not survive the mess he has made of the Dallas franchise. The team, which owns 50% of American Airlines Center, is saddled with $200 million in debt (the team's holding company, Southwest Sports, defaulted on $135 million of debt four years ago), a high payroll, and an under-performing team that can't make it past the first round of the playoffs. The natives have clearly gotten restless, illustrated by sagging ticket sales and waning interest in the Dallas market for the Stars. In the face of this Hicks has actually increased the team's marketing staff to boost ticket sales. What he really needs is a better product.

We are going to need a bigger boat.

Protesting with banners seems like the only option to me. Boycotting matches would be pointless because it would damage the entire club not just the owners. They have been poor since they took over but at least some positive news has finally come, although many would disagree with the refinancing being bad news by putting our club in debt.

We've been through that about 10-15 pages back mate.  :;):

I'm finding it quite bizarre that considering we've just been refinanced ("plunged into debt") there has been not a peep out of Gillett. Is he still alive or has CIGGY actually got him under her patio  ? :D  I'm now getting the distinct impression that Hicks is running ruff-shod over him. We've all heard the stories of him being reluctant to go down this loan road unlike Hicks and I now wonder whether or not he is taking a back seat with a view to bringing in a new stable mate for his share of the club (DIC ?).

I think if we were able to take Hicks at his word  then the loan wouldn't appear as bad as we feared. £105 million would be quite a manageable level for a club of our size but with the cost of the stadium still to be found and the fear that the first fucking chance this numpty gets he'll dump the rest of the loan at the clubs door.

I think now more than ever we need to get right behind the lads on the pitch and hope that this is the start of the end as far as the off pitch problems go and not the end of Liverpool FC.

here here!

What manhattan seems to pontificate is "Lets all row in behind the yanks"......(until they ruin the club with lies and debt and their sewer rat morals).......that kind of defeatist attitude is appalling to the extreme.
Liverpool FC have always been a family club and have a link between fans and the club stronger than everywhere else. G + H dont understand the culture of Liverpool FC and they never ever will. I accept football has changed but that doesnt mean that Liverpool FC should loose touch with its support base and become a soulless franchise like Hicks and co are used to being involved in. The sooner they realise they are not wanted the better.

Well to finally get started on the new stadium and looks much better with regards to signing mascherano, id have thought that was positive news.

Mug em? In all seriousness though wouldnt damaging there pockets be damaging for the club? What money has been made today so much is for the new stadium and so much has been made for players. Besides I dont think you can hurt there pockets, they have businesses elsewhere to fall back on.

There is no "Get G/H Out" campaign.

Just a few people here and there with some silly banners.

You speak of supporting Rafa and the team , Rafa is gone if the yanks stay , whether he walks or is pushed  can you really not see that??

If we can get someone better, it would not bother me.

The fans cheer for Rafa....and we draw.

you talk of us winning games , i don't support lfc cos we win games and not draw them, if we never won again all season it would still be Liverpool.

Unfortunately football is based on winning games and acquiring points. Teams don't qualify for the Champions League based on how well you support them when they lose or draw.

But there is a real danger that if G&H stay in control everything that really makes us LFC will be gone , and there wont be an LFC as we know it now
You move on and let those who don't want to watch while rome burns do somthing

Then go to Anfield with your dumb "We Want DIC" banner while the other 44,000 fans get on with the business of cheering on the team.

If we fail to qualify for a season, how else are we going to pay it back? It doesn't take a genius to realise that players will be sound to make up for lost cash.

I can very well see another Leeds United scenario.

Oh FFS, we are not Leeds, they were idiots who spent way more money than they could ever hope to recoup, their banks should never have allowed it. We are a much bigger club with far more stable revenue, we will not go down like Leeds. This refinancing is actually not so bad although I would stil prefer to see a takieover by DIC, although them having to sell assets to be able to afford us is a bit worrying.  ???

So you're employed to balance our books then?

No club, franchise, industry is immune to a Leeds style administration. FACT!

This season, I hope Rafa wins us the CL then walks. Afterwards he should speak his mind about what really went on. Out of all of this, Rafa really does look like a hero. He started smoking these two b@stards out last May after the CL final, and continued to do so. He's been criticised for going public about his feelings when he should be praised for it. He knew these two c*nts were no good for  the club. What boils my blood is that there are so called fans that wanted him out before those two w@nkers. Shame on you!

From here on I will make my own personal stand by never buying any more LFC associated merchandise, and by not attending any  games. I had planned to get over within a month or so, but I'm scrapping that plan now.
