so thanks for proving my point, these 3 players are a must for every  game and should not dropped or pushed out to left or the right in the hope that it will work, and especially do not fob us off with some bollox that birmnigham will sit deep so torres cant play against them

But Gerrard was pushed out to the right just two matches ago, in Newcastle.  A game that also featured Sissoko at CM and Kuyt up front.  Are you telling me that you felt that that was a sensible team selection? ???

BTW, the team selections and real rotation numbers match by match are now up in the rotation thread if you have any interest in talking about facts rather than myth.

lets talk when you have actually been a game eh bob then i might respect your views a little more

see i can make stupid comments as well    :eyebrow

That's not exactly what I'd call a good argument.

FFS we've just mullered a side that turned over the champions, and are capable of giving any team a game. The starting 11 was rotated substantially from midweek, and equally as substantially from our last Prem game. If you think the last 5 games are evidence that Rafa's policy on selection are to be questioned, then you're off your f*cking nut. Anyone reading about the games the day after in braille would get that.

When we weren't scoring, that's because our players weren't scoring. No conspiracy. Since our slump, we've had goals from Benayoun on the right, and Babel on the left and right. Kewell's had his hand in a goal or two since his return. Gerrard's set-pieces are suddenly finding their range, so we're seeing Kuyt put them in off his knee, and Sami stick his nut on one or two as well. These are all things that weren't happening in October. Rafa can't coach these things or select these players and make them occur - they either happen or they don't, and in my view it's entirely a form thing.

Today was the most recent example of Rafa using much the same personnel, but with the personnel making more use of their respective talents. Kewell and Lucas aside, it's a line-up we've probably seen before this season, but we currently look far more potent. That's due to our current good form and the fact that the players featuring are free of injury, and not some new selection policy. The fact that our new signings are all well bedded in now doesn't hurt either.

Anelkas miss today was an important turning point, big difference going in 1 -1 at half time to going in 2 -0. Incredible miss from such a classy player.

It feels like we've suddenly got a bit lucky with things like that. When you're out of form, those go in. Now that we're on a roll, those things are going for us in a huge way.

More power to it. We've got a cracking momentum about us right now.  :D

Even if it was 1-1 with Anelka slottin home imo we would of still finished them off, we did it to Porto who are a much better team than Bolton.

Still, Bolton are always a banana skin waiting to happen.

I can actually confirm that far from jumping ship, the sailors on the good ship anti rotation are merely swimming with the dolphins and having a party. Copious amounts of rum like grog were consumed last night as we toasted the team on another fantastic effort. The guys are also very happy that we left the express parked up at Crewe, it wasn't glamourous enough so we binned it.

The question doing the rounds amongst the learned die-hards who have stuck around, is will we get close enough at the end of the season to be able to say that the two consecutive games in which we sat Torres on his erse of our own valition cost us the title? Of course if that does happen, we will still be eating humble pie anyhow so there has been much sewing of cyanide pills into lapels over the last few days. Mick, Peewee and Bamaga have started a "they won't take us alive" club.

To be perfectly honest, one or two rats have made a swim for the good ship Chop 'n' Change which we can see riding high on the horizon (nice to see they've sorted out their problems with ballast, it did look like the whole thing was going to sink for a while) but we will damn their hides when they return, as they inevitably will. The feeling persists that as the team plays better and better, and wins games ever more convincingly that rafa will get bolder and bolder in his rotations. It must be time for Lee Peltier soon surely, or Torres on the bench against Man Utd? We will see, my hunch is both ships are going to experience choppy waters over the next few weeks.

blip my *rse, bad management cost us earlier in the season, just as it has the last few seasons and every season rafa suddenly wakes up and realises wat needs to be done, and if you trawl back through the forum you will see me saying exactly what has happened here to start getting results.

but hey, peewee knows nothing about football   :D

    now i am enjoying watching you all make out it was something other than what it actually was

Nothing has changed from the start of the season to now in respect of Rafas selection and set-up, we are rotating just as much, the figures bear that out. The selections are no less bemusing, see the Newcastle line up. Torres has played in all but 2 games IIRC, and has had a few really poor preformances, (I remember the Porto away game, he was awful) so there are games that he will be a passenger.

Player wise, Gerrard has picked up his form in the last 6 games, in a recent interview he said his form at the start of the season was poor, and that recently he has found it. Babel has got to know his teamates a little better, and therefore his performanaces have improved, Kewell is also back and done well in the games he has played, adding much needed balance. The defence has been as solid as all season. We were not rubbish earlier, the current best defensive record has been built up even during our blip.

We had a blip, a period where injuries, new players and poor form resulted in a FEW DRAWS, and 2 losses in the CL. We seem to have come out of it atm, and are playing well.

No doubt about it the team are getting the confidence together at last. The difference is amazing - a few games ago they lookid like strangers and made so many basic passing errors while now people want the ball and are trusting each other.

Does anyone feel we still tend to play a bit negatively with all those pass backs to goalie and across the defence when no need. It's like the natural instinct of the midfield is to pass back even when their is an obvious foward player available. I know it's a daft complaint given we are scoring for fun i but i wanna see even more goals! e.g. with a minute to go the defence were trying to keep the ball rather than kick it upfield - as if we were protecting a 1-0 :p

And what would that be, then?  Seriously, Peewee, look at the numbers I've posted in the rotation thread.  Look at the team selections listed.  When you do, you'll see that Rafa has not adjusted his policy towards rotation one iota.  So, he's not woken up and realized anything--he's stuck to his guns no matter what was happening.  You don't even have to be a regular match goer to see it, mate.  :;):
